I've got to agree also, at this point, as I'm sampling future purchases, I'm just waiting for these horribly cheesy vocals to intrude on the track and ruin it. This happens more often then not, and it's so frustrating when the track is really well produced.

Posted by Snooper on Apr-24-2004 21:43:

Funny you should mention "Raging"; first time I heard it I heard the Flutlicht Dub, and I thought wow what a tune. I then heard the vocal mix, and damn was it horrible. Has to be some of the worst vocals ever produced.

Posted by Psionic on Apr-24-2004 21:48:

Although I usually don't prefer vocals, sometimes they can make a track even more powerful and forceful (Kosheen - Catch You is a great example of this).

Posted by Nik Novo on Apr-24-2004 21:48:

The worst vocals ever in a track were the ones in the vox mix of M1 - Heaven Sent

Posted by DjSimonB on Apr-24-2004 21:53:

A lot of vocals these days are crap, I agree... although I think the ones on Tiesto's tune aren't too bad. Jan Johnston... ye, some of her stuff sucks, but remember she's the one who did Skydive and Flesh :

Way out West - Mindcircus... now that's an amazing vocal track. Lovely smooth vocals, and I can always relate to at least one line in that song if there's something on my mind. Above and Beyond - Far From In Love, also an amazing vocal trance tune. I could go on...

Justine Suissa isn't too bad really, listening to Sky Falls Down now and it's a decent track As for Southern Sun... well, it sucks ass in my opinion. I know a lot of people started to say they hated it after it got over played, like ATRC or Satellite, but I'm happy to say that I hated the vocals on Southern Suck the first time I heard it

The worst thing is putting vocals over good tracks, and ruining them. They're hardly ever good. Points in case:

4 Strings - Take me Away/Diving. Perfectly good tracks, ruined by vocals. At least after that Carlo made Let It Rain, which was a crap track in the first place so the vocals didn't really worry me that much.

Plastic Boy feat Rozalla - Live Another Life. Argh...

Warrior - If U Want Me. It's quite funny, by the time it got vocalised and remixed, and on to the daytime radio playlists, it sounded nothing like the original tune that Micheal made.

Meh, that's all I can think of for now, enough ranting for the moment.

Cass and Slide - Perception (Vocal Mix)....done correctly
Hybrid - Blackout ----done correctly
Delerium - Silence ---done correctly
Subsola - So Pure ---done correctly

but all these people are loving the lameass shit

Raging, Venus ----both dire useless horrid vocals and it was played by deejays.....horrible...made my ears bleed
Just Be, UR -----more horrible vocals
Justine Suissa, Jan Johnston with PvD
and the worst is BT with Tiesto - Love Comes Again.....all crap vocals....utterly crap vocals

why can't producers not use vocals if they suck and the person cannot sing like suissa and co.

they need to get the hint...the crappy vocals are not working.

1.Easy first because they are not as much good vocalist our there who like to sing to dance records!

2. If you want you records sold you need publicity, if you want publicity you have your records spined on the public radio and tv stations, public radio and tv stations play you only if you have voclas!

LOL

Imagine Chicane - Saltwater or Andain - Beautiful Things without the vocals

Vocals in tunes

All too often I hear a really good tune on sets in the Essential Mix or sometimes Judge Jules show (probably committed a cardinal sin by mentioning his name now!) and then I notice them in a record store, take it home and its been slowed down 5% or so and a really bad vocal has been added.....or god forbid they've completely scrweed the tune over. Prime example: Narcotic Thrust - I Like It . Whoever put that through the commercialization machine and decided to release the newer version should be killed

As many have said though Cass and Slide - Perception is a sensational vocal

used to like vocal trance a lot but ....now it seems to change cuz i agree with most of what have been said previously now a day a lot of vocal trance songs are just horrible ....lost some quality ....the voices sometimes are just ok ,or when the voice is ok then the lyrics are bad ....or the music doesn't fit or blah blah

by the way ....how do they find all the singers?cuz ....most of them only sing in 1 or 2 trakcs and then it's over .....

my question is ....how do u become a vocal trance's singer?

Posted by timmyboy2 on Apr-25-2004 20:00:

Dancing Dude there are some good vocal tunes like satalite

by oceanlab and some awful vocal tunes like nothing but you SUX!!!!
I think vocal tunes are a way to make trance more mainstream
I would love to hear trance on the radio instead of hip hop, R&B and that happy house diva shit

Well I won't claim to know, but i'd guess it takes a good voice and connections in the industry. Maybe good looks too...I haven't seen an ugly trance vocalist after all. Then again I haven't seen nearly every one...

Posted by torontotrance on Apr-25-2004 20:36:

My initial point was that people are not using good vocals or good vocalist or just bad music. The trance producers of today are pushing vocal trance more now but they seem to not do it well. I love vocal trance, I love trance period but when you have a great song with a shitty vocal, it kills your enjoyment. We all know Ferry,Tiesto and Paul van Dyk know how to do vocals better...so why are they turning out rubbish now.

Posted by smokeape on Apr-25-2004 20:36:

I'm a vocal freak and I don't insult the dubs, so give it a rest.

I just happen to like a female singing in the background. And no, I don't like male singing, so flame me on it.

To each his own. Don't believe we need threads insulting each other's tastes in music. We all like the same genre. Peace Out.

Blank & Jones - Perfect Silence

Posted by Soeder on Apr-25-2004 21:05:

they shouldn't add vocals to a good song just to have a vocals in it...but if they have a good vocal they could make a song about it
lots of vocals are unnessesery in my opinion, with exeptions...

not one? wtf.... i got so disappointed when i found out what maria nayler looked like, i still like her voice, but i can never go back to fantasizing whether she was hot or not when i listen to her tracks.

i'd say for most of the vocalists whose pictures i've come across, they don't strike me as hotties.

yep too many crappy vocals, which is a shame because i love vocals. I love female vocals (and to much lesser extent male ones) there is just some ethereal quality about it that can take a track to new levels(this is referencing the female vocals, there are no ethereal male vocals.) Assuming the track meshes well with the vocal.
