Why is Tiesto boycotting Calgary?
How many people were at his show in Calgary?

Hit and miss

I went to see him the last time he was here....I think it was May or June 2003. It was at the Whiskey and they put him on the stage/raised dancefloor part...not up in the rafters. Right there...you know that ticket sales weren't very good cause that set-up definitely cuts capacity. I can remember being very surprised at the lack lustre turn-out when I arrived...especially compared to the December 2002 show at the Palace. (That show was amazing...the Palace was packed and rocking). I can only imagine his disappointment when he arrived at The Whiskey...a much smaller venue and crowd..As a result, he wasn't into it..the crowd wasn't into it...no encore...nothing.....I'm not surprised he avoided us this time.

Well im seriously upset with the promoter who booked the number 1 DJ in the world at such a small venue!
Now we all gonna have to go somewhere else to see him, very dissapointing.

the whiskey isn't small its probably the biggest place that hosts dj events in the city now that the palace is gone, the capacity is at least 1000, has nothing to do with the venue pvd and ferry corsten, john digweed and many others have played great shows there

don't know how true that actually is don't think the crowd would turn him away maybe certain promotors, but most djs love calgary digweed said it was his favorite stop in north america last time he was here and jules had a big write up about it with nothing but good things

I apologize if my previous post was a bit misleading...Like Mr. Bacardi said...I wouldn't really blame the venue...it was more the timing and lack of promotion..in December, it was on a Sunday at a larger venue with a packed house. In June, it was on a Wednesday at a smaller venue with an average crowd.

Sometimes it can be quite detrimental to raise expectations and set high standards if you can't consistently meet them.

The reason that he dislikes Cow town is just that. When my good friend was in Mallorca a year and a half ago he saw tiesto there and caught up with him afterwards. He was talking to Tiesto about how great it was last time he came to vancouver. though Tiesto just kept on bringing up how much Calgary sucked cause of the stupid Stampeed. Seems as though he didnt like the beer funnelling redneck roping shit that was going down at that time of year. The funny part about the coversation that he had with Tiesto was that my friend kept changing the subject and Tiesto kept on griping about how stupid Calgary was.

Sorry to rub it in but just telling the story makes me laugh.
Its a good thing that him and the rest of the world LOVE Vancouver.
But all you TA's are welcome to come down and see what an amazing night at the commodore is like.

I talked to Dimitri at blackhole/PrimeTime Management, they are still in negotiations for his Vancouver show. They even pulled the date off his website. ( www.tiesto.com ). Not to burst anyones bubble, but Vancouver is yet to be confirmed. I want to see him there too. His set last year blew the roof off even with the nasty ass dancers on the stage Hope they are not part of the deal this year. I know he was pissed about the show in Vancouver 2002 because someone threw a bra or pair of panties up at him and it landed on the turntable making the needle jump.

I heard that last year during Tiesto's gig at the Stampede the organizers simply have cut the power at 2 am (right in the middle of his set), because of the by-law regulations and that is why Tiesto is pissed off at Calgary. Is any of that true???

That was two years ago at the Coyote's tent. He has spun here twice since then so I doubt that is the reason.
