Trance has been around for yonks and people that think it started in 1999 need to do a bit of research, early 90's was when it first emerged as it evolved out of techno.
For me alot of the best trance records pre-date 1998, although there were some corkers produced in 1998 and 1999. 1999 was just the year it hit the commerical mainstream and when most people got to hear about it.
A few tunes for people to seek out who dont know what pre-99 trance sounds like
Lil Kwan - Point Zero
Vernons Wonderland - Vernons Wonderland
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar
Nalin & Kane - Beachball
Age of Love - Age of Love
Jam & Spoon - Oddysey To Anyoona (Album edit)
Orbital - Lush 3.1
Orbital - Halcyon On+On
Orbital - Belfast
Marmion - Schonenberg
Chicane - Offshore
Salt Tank - Eugina
Future Sound of London - Papua New Guinea
Sven Vath - Accident In Paradise
LSG - Netherworld
Paul Van Dyk - Forbidden Fruit
BT - Flaming June
Sasha & Marie - Be As One
etc etc etc
Theres loads ive left off, but if you dont know what that sound like you really cant comment on trance pre-99.
fuck that , i dont care if it changes, I'm always going to stay true to trance

| Originally posted by Prodigy Child I was just thinking, I been looking into a bunch of threads and there was alot of bashing going on about producers not producing tracks like they used to, I've come to the conclusion its 1 of 2 things: 1)its missing that surtain something that sends a screaming shiver down your back. 2)we are just getting older and don't want the music to change into where its going. just a thought, anybody else got ideas as to why music doesn't "seem" as good as it was 5-6 years ago? |

Music was different in 1999, life was different. Everybody was dancing on Gouryella, Britney Spears and the gang... it was cheese, and that was it... Nowadays, I'm part of these people which just can't dance on this kind of music, but prefer stuff such as Dresden & Schultz, or even good old music, which is a music which will never turn outdated because of its nature... it's like trend... trends change, people change, there is no sense turning back: we've got to live our life based on our feelings and not about the ways we used to feel some years ago. It's the same question if you ask yourself: will I call back my ex-gf ? No way ! |
