What a class night.....and all on Heineken too...does it get any better than that? Only thing was with all those empty green bottles I can now only remember 2 things about Tijs set....the hairs on the back of my neck standing up as I heard the awesome Montana remix of Traffic kicking in....brilliant.....and the Mark Norman remix of Love Comes Again....sure it's a bit cheesie but hell it works

K managed to id another tune twds the end of his set, Michel DE HEY vs SECRET CINEMA - Another Sweater....

It was one of those sets that I absolutely loved at the time, thinking shit this is brilliant but now its all a haze....at the time I remember thinking how it was much less techy than NYE (a more stadium tech-trance night) and much more intimate, also found his tunes much more bouncy, reminding me a bit of a DJ Remy set I saw last year

Pete Tong was class too, great almost deep-house set....much better than when I last saw him back home....and Andrew Padula's set was very tight, showing why he was a deserving winner....even if the NSW guy might be wondering what he had to do to win......

Great closing set by JPL....including a track thats on the Sasha San Fran GU09 but it's name escapes me now, with some banging tunes....shame the legs gave way at 5.30...

Nice to meet some more TAs there...got some good stuff signed by Tijs too so all in all top night!

Shame i had to play soccer yesterday too....lost 3-0 too

Posted by JulesPLees on May-03-2004 06:54:

Awethome!!!!
Tiesto signed my Traffic Tijs...not Tiesto..
He ended PLaying for about 2 years...PLayed the original of Loves comes again...(of course, tis much better )
I got really pissed..asked him for promos and had got to PLay half hour longer than I was sposed too..

I think the track u are thinking of is Breeder - The Chain, Marcob..

Posted by JulesPLees on May-03-2004 06:56:

heheh...and Melbourne got a full 2 odd hour epic for free...

(and a copy of his set may be available quite shortly...shhhh)

Yep thats the one....awesome tune.....nice to hear it played out and about...class

Did the big man give you any promos JPL?

Posted by MarcoB on May-03-2004 07:03:

yeah getting sent xclusive Magik trax would be very cool

I dont know how anyone who witnessed that set could say Armin is better

Posted by sezzy on May-03-2004 07:10:

Armin is a god.

There is no one above Armin

Posted by JulesPLees on May-03-2004 07:11:

I digress...
but u know beauty is in the eye (or ear) of the beer holder...
he was so much better than new years.

Posted by MarcoB on May-03-2004 07:12:

yeah...for me Armin was too up & down intensity-wise....and he played ots of percussion-led stuff that I didnt think fitted into it very well...

oh well I guess that's the beauty of opinions

LETHAL INDUSTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! w000000t

haha i loved it
when he started his first track im like hey this sounds pretty cool, then i think what, it sounds like lethal industry and i started going nuts, but it wasn't the original mix and thats the only one i know and the intro was going for a while so i said to some complete stranger (he had a plain white t-shirt with tiesto written on the back) 'this sounds a lot like lethal industry, is it?' and i don't think he heard me right because he said 'no this is tiesto' lol so i said 'yeah i know but the track, its lethal industry?' and he pauses, we look at each other for a second and both yell 'yep!!' and we went nuts

the rest of the night was pretty cool too
i enjoyed the dj comp, i liked the melbourne and the nsw guy, i think the ones in the middle i didn't get into that much and the last guy got points for playing 'rage against the machine - renegades of funk' which i would never have thought i would hear in a club but it was great

i enjoyed pete tong as well, especially whatever he played at just past 1am, he had been going for about 20 mins nearly i think and his last few tracks too. who was the guy with the chick singing after tong? i really liked that as well. it was a good night, especially as it was for free

sorry i couldn't stay for your set jules had family commitments early in the morning. what time did you end up playing anyway?

i think the only thing that could have made the night better was hearing pete tong belt out some classic essential mix mc moments on the mic lol
NICE ONE BRUTHA!

I paid $80 for the Sydney leg of the Thirst tour... Tiesto played for 3h.

Posted by matt.h on May-03-2004 12:55:

the advantages of calling melbourne HOME!

the free drinks were heinekens, so if you're a beer fan, it was great haha.

the passes we got only allowed us free beers till 11pm, after that they were only serving free heines on the other side of he bar in the vip area, and you needed a different pass to get into there *shrug*

but free entry and tiesto for an awesome 2hr set...i aint complaining!
