Water polo?! What about stuff like Shinty? Now there's a crazy sport.

Thetoughest sport, in means of actual toughness, has to be Ultimate Fighting. Those fighters scare the shit out of me. The thing is, if you look at most of the champions, they are wrestlers, justa thought

Tito Ortiz was an asst. coach on my high school wrestling team when I wrestled a few years ago.

Huntington Beach High nukka.

There seems to be a misunderstanding somewhere in this thread. Some people are taking tough to mean most difficult or tricky, whilst others are taking it to mean most physical or strong.

It's a silly concept having the 'toughest sport' because there are some sports that the majority of us couldn't do, ever, no matter how much we trained.

I see in your profile you like skydiving? How many jumps have you done?

I started a couple of years ago but ran out of money Hopefully some day I can take it up seriously.

tennis, basketball, and baseball are all above than football(soccer)?! haha..thats a joke..

i mean for god's sake theres nothing easier than using ur hands and arms in a sport!
use ur legs and then talk about control and difficulty!

I only did 7 but I couldn't afford it any more.

It's expensive enough as it is without a 50 mile bus journey to the dropzone. Even though it was summer I rang them some weekends and they said the winds were too high And the longer I waited for the weather, the more fussy the instructors got about me forgetting the routines.

I'm gonna wait until I've got a steady job and do an AFF course in Spain or somewhere, with a British company. The weather doesn't let you down over there

Snooker is a really tough sport to play. The pockets are so tight and the balls so small, you have to be exact with your aiming. I stuggle to pot 3 balls in succession and when you see pro's like Ronnie O'Sullivan playing breaks of 100+ it makes you see how good they really are.

In terms of 'ball games' a sport over here in Ireland called 'Hurling' can be very tough at times. Great game to watch. If youse are ever in ireland try and go see a game to ye see what i mean.

But the toughest would have to be any of those cage fighting sports.

and i would think racing the tour de france is pretty difficult as well

as for tuffest id say Mixed Martial Art competition like UFC, Pride ,ect makes boxing look medicore.

my vote goes for nascar. Flame me if you want, but these guys do for 3 -4 hours what formula 1 does only for 60 minutes. Withstanding temps of 160-180 with flame suits on. high amount of Lateral G's, Having to avoid otehr drivers and drivers mistakes at 190-200 MPH and keep their lane at the same time.

I dont know how many of you have beenin a real Nascar vehical, but if you can imagine this. You are pretty much sitting on the ground, you have a 1 foot high window to lookout, you can barely move your head to look around, and You have no way to look behind you. It is constantly changing, no one person dominates *cough*Ferrari*cough* You also have to think about engine factors and winding a V8 out to 9000 RPM, your aerodynamic factors to stay competitive, debris on track *coming at you at 180-200 MPH* Staying within 2 feet or less of everyone around you, yet not coming in contact. If you watch the driver going througha corner you can see how much he has to fight the car to keep it in line.

I would have to say it is on par with wrestling for how good of strength you have to be in in order to compete.

On par with soccer for having to counter everyone elses moves while still working out how to get yourself tot he front and stay there w.o any problems.

RIP #3

EDIT: also, unlike soccer or basketball you cant "holdonto the ball" in the final few minutes to ensure a victory, you race to the VERY end, and often it only comes down to a few inches.

Curling or Golf!

Either way, these both sports suck!

What about Mountain Climbing

that's a true bitch and it is a sport

I mean you carry a 40-70 pound sack on your back, while trying to climb a high icey (even in summer) mountain and one small slip or the mountain gets pissed off....you are a goner

I think that's a truly dangerous sport, weather as well.

Like that Ed Viesturs guy (who has climbed 13 of the 14 highest mountains without use of oxygen) and everest 5 times and nearly died once. I mean that's an athlete if I ever saw one, I mean you are 45, carrying a 70 pound sack for 10 hrs, climbing a 8000 m mountain, while trying to keep your concentration, one wrong move and you are toast. Btw..that dude tries Annapurna (the meanest of them all for the 3rd time next year to complete the 14), only one person did that without oxygen and he lost his brother on K2, italian Reinhold Messner. I mean that's physical endurance to the extreme.

Posted by PhloTron on Jun-06-2004 19:29:

woohoo...I play the second toughest sport! ...And I enjoy the weakest sport alot too (fishing)! LOL

My "where is that sport on this list" vote goes to Irish Hurling ... Now that's not only tough...it's insane. LOL
