I hope DT decides to go to Boa... I think they have done a fantastic job of getting in talent to Toronto; a lot of this talent being DJs who seldom pay a visit to our fair city...

I'm not knocking the Docks in any way but Boa has lived up to it's name by putting Toronto "Back on the International Circuit"

This just shows you how important good marketing/advertising is.

Posted by Durafei on May-16-2004 15:36:

This shows that BOA is really good, nothing else.

If BOA had the best marketing ever but the club itself was shitty - noone here would even be talking about it. IMHO, if a club is really good, good marketing is important only during the first few weeks. After that, minimal marketing, word of mouth and consistently good line-ups will suffice.

I also noticed that people here on this board are generally very loyal. This might explain the hostility towards Docks. Imagine all of a sudden a competitor appeared that might somehow hurt BOA. Of course all the loyal fans will get offended.

not only that but the Docks have traditionally marketing their services towards a crowd that TAs are generally hostile towards (ie. the Z103 folk). however in this business, if the Docks wants to be able to compete with powers such as Guv and Boa (and soon to be Lucid) they're going to have to try hard to make this scene appealing to the mainstream audience which they're obviously trying to do with the George Acosta openning nite..

whether or not it'll be successful only time will tell ..

dEsidEL,

You're right, Toronto wasn't exactly "off" the international circuit as in we were starved of good talent... By no means. However, if a club can get Sander Kleinenberg twice in six months when he rarely stopped by TO in the past few years it's certainly a testament to the club/promoter.

Like yes, we've had the big names like PvD, AvB, Ferry Corsten and co. stop by the Guv a few times a year which is really cool, but now we're getting other big name DJs (non-trance) coming by. It's actually a lot like Montral, the Def Mix crew are regular visitors to that city. Now we have them too to a certain extent. Oscar G from Murk is a resident and so on...

Tenaglia hasn't been here since he closed Industry and this bidding war is great!!!

BTW, Interference is doing an excellent job, this summer will be kick-ass

damn right, it'll be the first summer where theres a lot of parties happening! no need to be headin' for Europe

Well I'll tell you this people...all of your comments and concerns are heard and understood. BUT...If we do get Danny Tenaglia at the DOCKS...it will be with the New Sound System, The Renos and it will be on AN OFF DAY From other party nights so the SOLE FOCUS will be ON HIM!!!

I would expect him for a Long Weekend perhaps! Who knows...it is still up in the air, and it is all up to "THE MAN" himself!
I am just like all all of you...JUST PLEASE COME BACK DANNY!

Peace

Styles

I would just like to add that I have to agree with most of you!
BOA and Carey over there have done StylesONE HELL OF A FANTASTIC JOB and THEY KNOW HOW TO THROW PARTIES and THAT PLACE WAS MEANT FOR WICKED ASS PARTIES! BOA IS AWESOME and LIKE CAREY said...we both have the offer in! Either way I WIN! If we get DANNY...I get to help run the show and party side by side with him...If we Don't get DANNY...I get to head over to the BEST AFTERPARTY in town and hang out with the great team that managed to get DANNY!!

It's a win win situation for all of us. I know all of you have your concerns about the DOCKS...but Don't WRITE US OFF YET!

Come down and try it once!
IF not the opening...wait until we get A WICKED DJ you like!
Email me at [email protected] and I will take care of you. Unless it is a super huge group of people...I will PUT YOU ON THE GUESTLIST AND GIVE YOU VIP treatment so that you can at least TRY to have the best experience possible.
Everyone's feedback is great and like I said, I JUST HOPE DANNY COMES BACK! (By the way...who's going to DJ VIBE at BOA this weekend)?

Peace

Styles

Wasn't he at the living room (or somewhere like that) a couple years ago for a big dj/small club type show?
