Wow

Beats the absolute hell out of most the mixes I've heard of this song.. I'm impressed.

I absolutely LOVE what you've done with the Vocals, the layering and filters turned out incredibly well and added *so* much to the Atmosphere of the Tracks.

This'd sound killer in a well mixed Breaks set.

It's a shame you missed the Deadline.. Congrats!

thanks for the comments

jimmi: i wish i had some test pressing lol

djjeesh: i'm glad you like the breakage

zerovii: i'm glad you liked the vocals and the 'atmosphere' of it all hehe. hopefully i won't miss the deadline for the tranceaddict remix competition.. haha

Ok, your task, get some test pressings

Well my mate has a CD deck on loan at the moment so we can give it some abuse till then

This is very impressive stuff. You could go along way with talent like this. How long did this track take you to finish? How much tweaking and adding of FX to samples did you actually use? What program did you use? And which vst's?

I'm intrigued, as you can tell. =)

UPDATE

Well, Ex.. Loved it, as I said earlier..

So, I just included it in my Latest Promo Mix.

This one's getting Hand Delivered to Armin van Buuren as well as Tiesto.. I hope you don't mind the usage in the Mix.

It's very breaks-esque, but The Intros / Closing rhythms are Trance friendly, so they add a nice spice to mixes. This one's a keeper!

Here's where it Sits:

Ilo - The Rapture (Riva Mix) [MINISTRY OF SOUND]
ATB - Marrakech (A&R Mix) [NO LABEL]
Scirocco - Scirocco (Shane 54 Mix) [FENOLOGY]
Aalto - Rush (Super 8 Mix) [ANJUNABEATS]
MK-S - Illuminate (Mind One Mix) [COMMUNICATION]
Oceanlab - Sattelite (Extalin Mix) [NO LABEL]
Cor Fijneman - Venus (Tiesto Mix) [BLACKHOLE]
BT - Force of Gravity (Tiesto Mix) [BLACKHOLE]
Tiesto - Love Comes (Original Mix) [BLACKHOLE]

I'd post the Mix, but I can't find any hosts.. So.. Oh well.

hehe, it took me about 4 months of working on and off. i started a little before the new year and finally finished around the end of april.

i did tons of tweaking

i love effects and cutting up waves and whatnot, so i used them throughout the entire process. i did most of the work in cubase sx 2.01. i produced some in reason 2.5 (the percs started in reason and then i exported to wave and used the waves in cubase). the bass after the 2nd break is subtractor from reason, and there was one other reason synth.

for the strange vocals in the beginning, i reversed the vocal track and cut out syllables and words and then made them into samples using sound forge. then i loaded all the samples into an nn-19 and patterned out the samples to make a new vocal track (also having lots of effects). then i exported that and used it in cubase and did further effects and editing to it in there.

the whole vocal track was time stretched to 133 bpm from 140 before i did anything with it, using prosoniq timefactory (bad ass time stretching tool).

the rest was done with vsti's in cubase. i used vstation, hypersonic, atmosphere, battery, synthic (vsti made by rb2k1, thanks bro! ). there are probably some i am forgetting lol.. but those are all that i can remember.

for effects i used a ton of stuff, eq, filters, reverbs, phasers, flangers, compression, limiting. i just keep tweaking stuff till i'm happy with it.

one thing i love so much about cubase is how you can chop up waves and move them around and copy and paste... i used that feature a whole lot.. it's even useful to cut up your drum wave and repattern it to do easy change ups on the fly after you've already exported it to wave.

hope that give you an idea of what i did.

peace,
-rob

Cheers, extalin.

It's refreshing to have an aritst so open about their work. Some people are so tight-lipped when it comes to revealing their techniques.

Your remix sounds really nice! the vocals are great the way you treated them and I love the arrangement. I think it would be definitely one of the winners when it was finished in time.

keep up the good work
