Oh yea baby, that was pretty intense, and dam Kipper is insane, we would be dead without him.

Posted by j_spot on May-10-2004 00:52:

despite the score and the SOG story, I dont think this game was as close as it looked on paper.
besides being on their heels for the 2nd, the flames really did own this game. If Donovan scores on that breakaway (gorgeous poke check from whats his name) its 3-1.
kipper stood on his head, while his rival was simply ok. I think we can take this in 5.

Posted by Dmatrox on May-10-2004 05:51:

I think the Flames owned 1st and 2nd period, but were being majorly pressured in their zone in overtime. They won and thats all that matters It was an awesome game with an awesome goal from an unexpected guy. May be even lucky from a turnover in neutral zone while Sharks were changing.

I don't agree with you guys in the fact that we owned or outplayed San Jose. I thought they came out like we usually do and that kind of suprised us a little bit. We didn't play to our best potential but still got the job done. This is something that has made me more confident in our team and what they can do.
San Jose can't play any better than that, and we can definately play a lot better!!!

GO FLAMES GO!!!!!!

Posted by DjCommisad on May-10-2004 22:30:

give san jose credit. they beat st louis, who is always trouble when they put their minds to it, and they beat colorado.

calgary's defeat of an aging detroit was great, and their defeat of the canucks, well, that should have happened anyways with the way we seem to play every postseason.

im not undermining calgary, im just saying, dont underestimate san jose either.

calgary in 6.

man, the eastern conference is a lot stronger this year compared to last years.

Posted by j_spot on May-10-2004 22:34:

all hockey columnists seem to think that Calgary got outplayed, but I stick by my side!

Posted by chig on May-11-2004 07:11:

fuck the critics. Outplayed out shot out who gives a fuck we won game one we did what we needed to do steal home ice. Plain and simple and what the fuck is cherry doin on HNIC talkin about the leafs. I know hes a leafs fan till he dies but come on they were out like a week aggo let go of it cherry. Back to the critics everyone can underestimate all they want but calgary has a ligitmate chance to do something they havent for 15 years i dont wanna say it cause it may get jinxed but calgary can float under everyones radar right to that thing they win at the end. Even ESPN said that of the 4 teams left only one has one the cup then go on to say that philly hasnt won since 197whatever. Fuckin idiots. Well game two will be wicked and ill be watchin with my eyes glued to the tube as always. Go Flames Go
im spent

Posted by Dmatrox on May-12-2004 03:31:

Yeah!!!! 4-1

Posted by Sean Walsh on May-12-2004 03:35:

Flames played a great hockey game tonight and thoroughly deserved the win. Wow, getting the first 2 wins is huge.

Posted by j_spot on May-12-2004 05:34:

I didnt see it cuz I was working, but I sure heard the cheers

up 2-0 coming home
could you imagine a sweep(I still call flames in 5)
17th on sunday would be madness!!!

Posted by chig on May-12-2004 13:10:

What the fuck do the critics have to say now! This team has been and is going to earn the respect around the league. And ron wilson saying after game one that theres more to come after they fired 50+ shots at kipper that was clearly there best effort of the post season and i dont think they can duplicate or top it. Wow unbelievable way to goy boys. The dome will be rockin on Thursday, they said that the pres of san jose put the hp pavillion as the loudest arena in the nhl, hahaha van nor det could handle the dome i dont think san jose can either. What a great time to be livin in calgary. GO FLAMES GO

Posted by jesten on May-12-2004 13:46:

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!

hehehe

Posted by r12 on May-12-2004 15:46:

shark fin soup anyone ?!
i think ill take out my broom right now and do some cleaning at the dome!

That second goal was unbelievable. Best play by Calgary this year. Sutter is a genious...those late season pickups...Nilson, Niemenen and Simon seem to be a perfect fit.

I also loved how the Flames overcame the bullshit calls against Simon in both games 1 and 2. Honestly, what is the likelihood that two guys in striped shirts can have their heads up their asses at the same time. The odds must be astronomical.

Unfortunately I'll have to tape the game on Thursday and watch it the next morning..I have tickets to Dido in Banff.

Go Flames!

P.S. I wish I could find those absolute p.o.s. losers who are stealing the Flames flags from cars. My 8 year old nephew was in complete tears yesterday cause some fuckin' bitch broke the Flames flag off his mom's car. I gave him mine...but man, I wish I could find that guy and treat him like an Iraqi prisoner in an American military prison.

Posted by TranceForever on May-12-2004 20:54:

Well, Well, Well...
Look out Calgary!
The sharks are done plain and simple. There is no way they win this series. The Flames have all the confidence in the world and are hungry and smart enough to know that they still have to play 100% for 60 minutes in every game to win a series.
I will be coming back to Calgary on Friday and hopefully going to game 4 with my dad. I hope for the team, the fans and the cities sake that we win games 3 and 4 at home in front of the most deserving fans in the league.
If the Flames do sweep the series at home, then I have a feeling that a lot of people will be calling in sick to work on Monday because people will be partying all night long!!!!

I am looking forward to watching the Flames continue to dominate the Sharks on thursday, and hopefully wrap up the series on Sunday with a sweep at home!!!

GO FLAMES GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. If I see anyone disrespecting any Flames stuff, I will take it personally and kick some ass!!!!!

Posted by DjCommisad on May-13-2004 14:47:

go calgary!

btw... WTF IS BETTMAN DOING NOW?!?!?

No games wed.
Two games Thurs.
No games Fri
One game Sat
One game Sun

making room for baseball again el fckheado?

Posted by j_spot on May-13-2004 16:51:

DONT BLAME BETTMAN!
blame US Television

I know that in the case of Calgary/San Jose, the arenas are both booked on saturday nights, which is why there is no satrday night games.

Posted by DjCommisad on May-13-2004 23:59:

i blame USA tv and bettman.

Posted by TranceForever on May-14-2004 05:10:

I am so glad we have someone on San Jose that everybody hates, and the fans will boo everytime he touches the puck. In both previous series we had Jovanovski and Hatcher, and now we have Koraluck (or however you spell that fags name!).
The Flames weren't the Flames tonight, and Nabokov played well, but now we have the fire under our ass again. We hate losing and it showed in that few minutes of the game.
I am so glad that Iginla and Simon went after that little prick!!!
Who does he think he is trying to rub it in by waiting till all of the Flames are around! What a piece of shit!!!
Boy I hope the Flames come out on Sunday and absolutely get nasty, and play our game. If we do that we will win the game!!!!

GO FLAMES GO!!!!!!!

Posted by Dmatrox on May-14-2004 06:07:

I think thats the most fights i have seen in one game so far

I didnt see any point for pulling Kipper when they were down 2-0 in the first place.

Yeah i agree. The 2 offside calls on the 2 scoring chances were annoying And those refs are unfair towards Simon, like that brief "hugging" call last game and one call this games. Anyways, the game was okay, at least there were some fights

what, like hitting people after they score? doesn't matter how bad you hate on an opposing player, trying to hit someone after a goal is probably the lowest you can go in sports.

shame. could've ended on a more solid note than that.

anyways, the last period was pretty intense, can't wait for the next one.

Posted by DjCommisad on May-14-2004 07:34:

I think Korayluk was showing off a tad, but I figured he also wanted to make sure he got the shot off.. imagine missing an EMPTY NET from like 15 feet away, like holy smokes! He could hear a calgary and san jose player or at least a guy or two behind him so he stopped to let them go around him..

So he scores an empty net goal, and I agree with Caleb here.. a calgary flames player hits him, then two more throw him into the boards... like come on, this guy looks like he weighs less than i do and you got 3 flames players attacking him?

Why didn't the flames play that passionately the whole friggin game, rather than wait til they were down 2-0 to start going all out and throwing their bodies around? I mean, San jose has got nothing for tough guys, Calgary has Olliwa and a lot of tough grinders and tough guys, heck even Iginla can take care of himself.

As for the refereeing, it was a joke. The two times they called both penalities to make it 4-4 was a joke.. the second one for sure. cheechoo was just pounding that calgary guy and they throw simon and the san jose guy off?

I thought Niemenan ran Nabokov a bit.. reminds me of what they kept doing to Cloutier and Joseph. He was interfered with a bit but he took out nabokov for like a good 3-8 seconds beside the net.. im glad they didnt call nabokov for slashing or kicking or whatever he did to niemenan.. hehe.. (you can argue that of course, but if anything they should have called them both then in that case).

Lots of offsides, 2/3 of the close ones were legit.. REAL CLOSE, but legit calls, 1/3 of them were so close that they should have let them go.. if they were even offside to begin with.

Oh well, we can all blame jesten for saying "sweeeeeeepp" and jinxing it hehe.

Go flames!

Posted by r12 on May-14-2004 15:42:

calgary played half assed in game 3... nothing like how they played game 1/2... honestly i really didnt see calgary take the play to the sharks, sanjose basically dictated taht game the way they wanted to play. hope game 4 is much better!
