Originally posted by mezzir i actually think a lot of it's really really good music, and there's some great talent out there but the music still bothers me in that i can't listen to it for very long without it taking over my emotions i'm a strong believer in the fact that your mood can be easily altered by the music you listen to, and it seems to me that only listening to really depressing music non-stop can't do anything but hurt you and i suppose maybe some people only like sad music in the same way that some people only like happy music or chilled stuff, but the happy and chilled people can still get by as normal, which doesn't seem to be the case for emo so my point is basically that its good music, but it just tends to take over your life and you end up wallowing in regret and self-pity and anger

Originally posted by Poncho I about 90% of the emo bands are all the same. They all write about the same shit, with the same whiney emo voice. I also believe that music can effect you on how you feel and think and decisions you make. Emo to me is emotionally shallow music much like rap is. Yeah they sing about breaking up with their girlfriends and what not but the music itself just sound emotionally devoid.

I used to be punk rock, and then my girlfriend dumped me...

only thing worse than an emo-head... is a progwhore
exactly, Thursday and Thrice have good lyrics and do not revolve around breakups. Dashboard Confessional does do, i think.
bashing on stereoptypical cliques is always deja vu and sooo cool ;p

I still don't quite get what "emo" is. Someone post a pic of some "emo" type people so I can get what you mean. I couldn't find anything on Google.

Originally posted by trancepixie17 Someone earlier in the thread was favoring "gansta" because of weed. Well scott wiland from STP did and still does crack. That's why he's not allowed in the band anymore..... not sour girl, sour dumbass.... stp was a really good band..... btw, kurt kobaine had an addiction too.... some people need to know the facts before they talk personally I fuckin love EMO music I like dashboard because it's better than hearing FUCKIN rap that it's music; it's a bunch of horse shit put together for people to "dance" to. There's r and b like usher who doesn't rap in all of his songs. That's fine. Coming from an emo, take my advice, not all skateboarders like emo music. so STFU unless you know your facts. Enoc agrees.
as it says in my msn name "it all started at age 3 with a fisher price boom box and taped album of licensed to ill"
do not diss hip hop for most of u know nothing about it...tho i agree the commericial shit u hear nowadays is utter crap cept for maybe a few artists who have skill and try to throw u messages under the whole image they front with
one thing though thats slightly unrelated, but still i feel very important
generalizations aren't the same fucking thing as stereotypes
saying emo is about girl problems, from all of my experience, would be a generalization, since for the most part its true
just because there are a few instances where its not true doesn't make it a stereotype
generalizations generalize
so they're not right 100%of the time
