Shame / Disagreement Lies...ALL LIES!!!

Jeez, this list is mostly pro-British....Something that the Ministry of Sound would come out with...More props to the other European dj's, like Tiesto and Van Buuren!!!

Peace

ok, all i am trying to get across is that just because something is great to you does not mean it's great. my little sister thinks the backstreet boys are great, is she right??? you tell me. i don't like radiohead very much but can i appreciate their music as great...yes. it is creative and they are making an effort to music move forward. i don't like when producers are content to leave things the way they are and i think it is worrysome that they are being hailed as "great" and "genius". i am not telling you not to like them i just think you should step back and think about who are the musicains and who just put out "tracks". what is so great about this music is that stuff from six monthes ago sounds dated but that is starting to change. half of the dj's and producers who are around these days are content to be cheesy rip offs of paul van dyk and man with no name who were making this stuff years sgo. a perfect example is tilt, they made solid trance years ago that takes a shit on the majority of new releases, they have moved on and are now trying to push the genre into a different-and dare i say it-better direction...

Now thats what i call a well thought out, coherent argument. Better than the usual " you're wrong 'cause i say so and there !"

Peace

wow a list!!

I will admit i was curious to see this list.. but now i have seen it, it doesn't show me what i want to see.....

commercial or not this list is prob something to make you buy that mag.

Whatever you listen to you is your own choice!!!!

The dance/trance scene in the U.K is quite disapointing at the moment! Media sure know how to fuck things up!

This list is a moot point, not only is it skewed towards the brits but it's very old, maybe over a year old. So many of the DJs who have only recently begun their rise in "popularity" may not included on this list i.e Armin Van Buuren. So stop arguing because "You're wrong, cause I say so, and there!

Smoking ..umm..something

I pity people who compare Backstreet Boys to trance/house producers... You see, the difference is that producers MAKE their own music, BSB just sing the songs some nameless dude wrote for them.

And then one other thing: paul van dyk and tilt??? I admire PvD for his DJing skills, but the traxx he produces... talking about cheesy. And not just the last couple of songs, but also the traxx he made a few years back. And for Tilt: Sure they made great music, but what's with them lately? Copying Robert Miles' traxx!! Now THAT's someone who was a major influence in trance!

And ehm, who are musicians, who are "making traxx"... you oughta listen more carefully to the traxx guys like Armin and Tiesto "make". The music they make sometimes sounds a lot like classical music (e.g. the stringparts). Try the stuff they did for ARIA ONE once, and you'll know what I'm talking about... That - to me - puts them closer to guys like Beethoven and Bach than most of the rockbands out there...

I know I'm kinda glorifying Armin and the likes, but rather them than Sasha, Digweed, Armand and friends... All they make lately is monotonous noise. It can be great, don't get me wrong, but that's not comparable to "Tiesto" music, and never will be.

Shame / Disagreement

No one did compare the BSB to Trance/House producers. It was only an example showing that everybody has and should have his own opinion of what is good and what is bad.
I absolutely agree with "defeated" and it doesn't make any sense to force your own opinion on someone who thinks otherwise.

Bye,
P.

Thumbs down

Alright I know I'm going to get some crap for saying this but here are my opinions.

Ok, first defeated I agree with you...somewhat. I understand what you are saying with the styles between Tiesto, Tenaglia, and Digweed etc.

Give me a god damn break alright here we go, Paul Oakenfold is so fucking commercialized now it makes me sick. I don't even listen to him anymore. His song selection has gone down the drain and now it's commercial, commercial, commercial. Oakenfold can move a crowd and blah blah, shutup. The little respect I had for him is now gone. You mean to tell me that Ferry Corsten, responsible for SYSTEM F, MOONMAN, AND GOURYELLA is 22? He has inspired so many DJ's, seeing that 22 by him makes me ill. Have they even heard any of his songs?

Judge Jules can bite my left nut when it comes to Tiesto, Corsten, and Fontaine. And why in god's name is Christopher Lawrence 78? Hmm, does Trance DJ of the year say anything? And I'm not just going off of awards, listen to his mixing, for god sake. Personally his songs that he himself makes, aren't that great but his mixing is incredible.

I think the order should have been:
1. Paul Van Dyk
2. Tiesto
3. John Digweed
4. Ferry Corsten
5. Christopher Lawrence
6. Veracocha (teehehehe)

Thank you for your time in my rant, sorry if I offended you.
