nah man dont you know ? if you live in the city, driving is a must !

Confused Tickets!!!

Tickets blow, especially these Nassau cops. They are so stiff. I live in Queens abd work in long island. I was trying to make it there and back to work on a lunch break. I always fly and never once have I gotten stopped, and dammit I should have invested in a radar detector. I got caught by a Nassau doing 85 in a 50. So bascially thats 31 plus miles over the limit so I got a summons. He could have spared me the greif and rounded it off to 80 so I would just get a ticket and pay it, but nooooooooo. The first and only time I get caught and I get a prick....I tried to play the dumb chick roll...hehehe. thats didnt work either. So long story short I paid about 300 and change for the ticket and surcharge and has to sit in the damn DMV court room and got and insane amount of points on my license. 3 more points and I am suspended so I need to take it easy for the next 18 months. Not to mention when I renew my insurance I am going to faint when I see the new quote.

ive never got a moving violation or anything , just god dam parking shit...fuckin nyc/boston...

Posted by euphoria on May-11-2004 20:19:

: (

Only 1 moving violation. Parking tickets suck too. I am in Queens and we have alternate side parking, ususally when I call in sick and dont plan it I forget which freaking side I parked on and I get a nice surprise the next day.

Even when I was moving they ticketed our u haul truck, but we were parkied in front of the building we were moving from and I specifically asked the ticket cop, can I park here. I am moving, he says dont worry, these are partial commerical plates you wont get ticketed. Not only did I get ticketed once, I got ticketed twice. Once where I was moving out from and 1 more to the place I was moving into and there were only 2 of us doing the moving so there was no one really to stay with the car....so they charged the tickets to our u haul bill even though we were fighting the tickets so its 1 big mess. Then U haul also charges a ticketing fee themselves, so now we have to get the tickets thrown out and have uhaul credit back the money. Its like 2 tickets for 85 and 55 each and then the Uhaul fee.

if you live and work in manhattan + own a car, you're a moron

Posted by dcougar99 on May-11-2004 20:44:

I think i may have you all...
I drive about 26K miles a year on my personal car. And i just got back from a trip for work... drove around the US for just short of 4 weeks for a total of 10,000 miles! So this year i figure a total of 35,000 miles total.

I was not bitching about the gas price, you were.

I only explained that you could reduce your exposure to gas price changes by reducing the amount of gas consumed. You can do this in mutliple ways:

1. own a car that gets lots of MPG
2. drive less
3. drive slower
4. avoid braking

lolz i know, im just joking. I only put premium/ultra in my car 2 so...
and drive slower pppppppppssssssssssshhhhhhhhh

i thought fuel efficiency was best around 70-75 mph in a car...

Posted by sandstorm03 on May-12-2004 19:24:

actually it depends on rpm...higher rpm, more gas going through the energy...so its possible for 110 mph to conserve more gas then 50 mph

ic ic... either case, driving slower MIGHT not be fuel efficient i like that.

Posted by sandstorm03 on May-12-2004 19:31:

i may be wrong, but i think thats how it works...

next time that happens ask to see the radar. You have the right to ask to see it. If he can't provide it then he has no proof thus rendering you free to go. It's only happen to me once . But I have never been pulled over again thanks to this love in my life:

not entirely true, but close... efficiency depends on a lot of factors. You can run your engine at low rpm, yet still use a lot of gas. Just drive your car at 30mph in 5th or 6th gear and you will see that you have to put down the accelerator a lot, which means that the amount of gasoline put into the engine is pretty big.

Similarly, going downhill and put the car in a low gear, which will cause high rpm, but if one does not touch the accelerator, the engine -provided that it is 'new' enough- will not use ANY gasoline. At least recent BMW engines are programmed to shut off the gasoline intake if the car's inertia is able to drive the engine.

So, in the end, it is a combination of speed, gear ratio, accelerator depression, car weight, road conditions etc.

that is a myth:

it is his word against yours. Whom do you think the court is more likly to believe? A cop, who supposedly has no motivation to give you a speeding ticket apart from your speeding, or you, who is motivated to escape punishment?

Ps.: of course cops are motivated to give you speeding tickets. I heard that promotions are based on 'performance' which is assessed by the amount of tickets handed out...
