Dude, some rock bands still play tunes that are 20+ years old and the crowd still loves them.

you're not hearing what i said. If he wants to do that's fine.

BUT

he can't expect to play 20 shows a month like he used to

rock bands obviously don't play for the same audiences on a regular basis, let alone are those shows broadcast over the internet for everyone to listen to. he can't play one month a set of all of his tunes at say Gatecrasher, then come back in a month or two and play the exact same set...that'll get old real quick.

DJ's like PvD, Armind, and Tijs all just seem to be playing the same style they've been playing for a long time and not changing at all.

#1, armin is a turd, and changed his stly to 100000% boring uplifting

#2 tiesto isnt 100% tech trance like 00-02

#3 Paul has basically always had the same style.

Now are you looking for these djs to play more techno, breaks, prog? What are you looking for?

tiesto really needs to stop trying to ride this "i'm an artist" wave he's been on lately.

he said himself that he wanted to play more of his own material and he has started in that direction, but its not working. you can't just play your tunes every other weekend and expect people to come out to see your ass...

The best djs in a few years, will play 1000000000000000% of their own tracks, its just not tiesto. That is the direction trance is going in. Esp since they all are afraid of mp3's messing up releases. Which they do. And since people like Fagboy sign every asot style track, and over inflates the market. Leading to more trance, but the quality is shitty. Fuck You Armin. Paul used to play 1000% stuff you wouldn't ever get/find. He still does that today, and even more so with fs. Sasha does it a lot also, just every track he touches, i dont think gets the rework title thrown on it. He does have a few remix albums though. Tiesto is just going to be the same, nothing wrong with it, so stop bitching. Mabe its you that has to let go and move on.

the trouble is, although i love most of his earlier work the production on tunes like sparkles is so dated, it would be impossible to play this tune nowadays without sounding cheesy. apart from classics sets, and private collections, where would you put this tune?
urban train is a true classic that wont date, same goes for flight 643.

what about tiesto's co-productions? stuff like allure - no more tears, kamaya painters - endless wave... again it would be very difficult to play these tunes in a set nowadays

im sorry but sparkles, isnt dated, id love to hear that in 1/10000000th of a heart beat, so speak for your self. None of these would would sound cheezy if the dj built his set correctly. I dont see how its tough to drop any of thoes tracks, sorry.
