I once went for an interview for a company and position that was a big step up from my then current job. Meant dealing with high profile people and a big pay increase to work for a very sucesssful company right in central london.

Had the interview all, all went well, the owner liked me and sent me an email afterwards to thank me for coming in.

Meanwhile I was having a email conversation with a mate about a certain pretty well known DJ we're both friends with, mainly with a few borderline racist slurs and a lot of talk about said DJ disappearing down the K hole the night before.

....which I managed to send to that prospective boss as the reply to his thanks.

I don't know how, but I got a call to come in to speak with him and even though I was shitting it, I brought it up and before I could even start my lame excuse, he said he found it hilarious and offered me the job.

I actually think the board was, for the time I've been here, mostly depressing during 2010-2012 or so. While there have still been far too many posts in MD about how great the past used to be, there have also been a number of more upbeat posts lately.

2004-2006 were the best years. So much random. I remember when within 10 minutes the entire front page of the COR could cycle.

I first joined in 2004 but I didn't post in the COR until at least the middle of 2005. I think 2006 and 2007 were pretty great.

Yep I definitely recall ppl back then being much more friendly. Starting around the mid-2000s I think a bunch of fuckwits and trolls started to join and their snarky, biting responses I think did a lot to drive away the friendlier ppl

It's probably a function of age more than anything. You can't stay a PLUR-kid forever. Well, some people do try, I guess...but Peter Pan-ism never looks good on anybody.

These old threads from 2000-2002 read like exactly what they are: a bunch of teenagers talking inane shit to each other. No surprise, given that trance was always the gateway genre for teenagers.

I don't know about the COR, but my favourite year of TA was probably 2009. It was still very active but we had some great high-level music chatter in MD, pretty sure the COR was in good form and DJ Promotion was responsible for some classic mixes I still listen to today.

I had a few random texts from a girl. I texted her back and ask that she stops, unless she was cute than she can continue.

Guess she wasn't cute after all.

I used to get a lot of heat for not censoring/banning people back then... mainly from DJs who didn't like some of the things being said. The funny thing is that Twitter is 1000x worse for directing anonymous insults.

Oh, the PMs I used to get... good times...
