I hope all those bleeding hearts that vote liberal because they like the soundbytes feel real good right about now.

"Choose Change"... yah, choose someone who changes his mind/word @ every turn.

The man has us paying over $500 a month for his Tropicana Orange juice fetish out of our pockets for fuck sakes, evn when he was in the official opposition.

We also payed for him to go to the States and get PR and Media training to transform him from the spineless weasel he shone through as in previous elections.. around $30,000 was the initial tab for having this cluster-fuck led the province.

God, I actually miss the NDP.

if u don't like living in Ontario, then leave!
it's just that simple.

I know it's hard in Ontario and we get it up the ass but honestly, there are other places where it's not as bad in Canada. Canada is one huge country. U can go live in BC or something where u don't pay as much taxes.

other than that, quit ur bitching. it won't help anyone.

Posted by Nephilim_X on May-18-2004 01:38:

it's not as simple as simply moving away from Ontario; all my friends and family are here and besides as far as my preferences go I know of no nations with an energy-based economy anyway.

Posted by Brindor on May-18-2004 01:39:

Rocco: Exactly!! Shit or Get off the Pot! Everyone likes to complain and no-one likes to do anything about it, I don't complain about the government because I know I'm not gunna change it.

i know. my friends and family are here. There are always compromises that has to be made.

live a shitty life with good ppl or live a good life with shitty ppl.
this is how i see it.

The weakest arguement anyone can ever have is "if you dont like it then leave"

Meanwhile we bitch and complain about it because we love our country/province but we dont like what is happening to it (big difference here)

To tell people to leave because they dont like a particular style of government, some particular laws etc is truely pathetic. Why should people who want change for the better be told to leave?

As for sweden: last i heard the health care system was bankrupt and they were turning to public/private systems. And no this doesnt mean 2 tier either like the scare mongers like to say.

And although Mcsquinty is just as bad or worse than bob rae.... ILL NEVER MISS THE NDP!

Yeah, and once you vote all these bastards off, you should look into what Sweden has done and maybe set something like that up here. I am not sure, but I think they pay like 75% in taxes, and in return everything is free (health care, education, etc).

good thinking! same counts for germany ...perhaps not 75% bit over 50% anyways!

I don't think a General Strike is the answer however McGimpy is breaking election promises left, right and centre!

I haven't been following the news lately but is he going to remove the taxpayer's protection act thingy he signed with the Tories a few years back? It is my understanding that any sort of tax increase must be consented upon by the voters of Ontario?

Hopefully those who voted for him in the previous election will "choose change" once again and toss this out of office.

Then again, all politicians are skillful liars...

Posted by Brindor on May-18-2004 01:49:

Can't we just vote something like an ape into office? atleast the shit they fling around would be amusing

Posted by Jayx1 on May-18-2004 01:49:

If a general strike isnt the answer then what is?

Petitions, editorials, voting, and angry letters to MPs obviously arent working.

What else can we do thats non violent????

Posted by ShadoWolf on May-18-2004 01:50:

I want to recall my MPP.

see my friend, in north america, politicians will ALWAYS lie, the people will ALWAYS get screwed over.

it shouldn't take that long for an educated person like urself to realize that. Execuse me if i'm pathetic or uneducated but this is truly how i view the whole political issues.

Personally all i care about is a roof over my head, food on my table and clothes to cover my back. Enjoying that in a country that is not suffering from a war defecit or always on alert for terorist attacks is an added bonus.

some of us should feel really lucky to live in a place like Canada. lotta ppl envy us. We're just too spoiled to see it. Government sucks cuz ppl don't do anything about it. Ok it's a fact we all know and we'll always remain passive since most of us are immigrants and all we care about is this country to remain safe. It's the only reason my family is here. Otherwise i rather enjoy living in my 6 bedrom villa facing the Red Sea back home and i'll have summer all year round.

Yeah but I do think our government needs at least something in the way of revisionment; when you look at it the majority of Canada votes for a party that didn't win. Is it really a good system if 72% of the people are not satisfied? Obviously not everyone is gonna end up happy; you can't please all the people all the time. Perhaps an N-round system (where n is the number of "rounds" of elections; weaker parties are eliminated each round so you eventually get a true majority vote) or Approval Voting... ah well I'm hardly a student of politics....

Posted by Jayx1 on May-18-2004 01:53:

We are spoiled. The effect is opposite though. We sit back and let people walk all over us because we have become detached from the world around us. Sadly, we are letting our country slip away little by little and most of us wont realize until its too late.

Remember that 60 years ago, countries like the Ukraine, Afghanistan and Argentina were some of the richest countries in the world. Now think how corruption here is becoming more and more frequent and how many of our civil rights are being taking away.

If that war happens we should build a battle-bus like in Dawn of the Dead <3

and Quebec will start it!

LOL

Seriously though... take a lesson in politics and have a look around you. The classic signs of decline are very evident in Canada.

Yeah but every nation goes through birth and decay; in a sense the end is inevitable. Perhaps through strife and challenge the new nation(s) born of Canada's fall could become better? Some might say "look what happened when Rome fell" but Canada is hardly the world superpower; plus secularism has a pretty firm grasp on this region of the world.

The Bible Belt on the other hand... *shudder*

Posted by Jayx1 on May-18-2004 02:04:

i for one wont let the decay happen without a fight. Im sick of politicians like mcguinty. Just wait until the budget comes down tomorrow. I swear, somebody with balls like maybe the opposition leader or some of the union leaders need to start calling for general strikes to oppose this lying, law breaking premier.

why don't u run for office yourself? or at least get in to the gov't in some shape or form ... other options are too weak without the necessary public force!

i for one am working on the int'l level and trying to work it through int'l law on a more global level. we may not see results in our lifetime but at least we're setting the stage for more substantial change in the long run!

Posted by Jayx1 on May-18-2004 02:15:

the common man cannot run for office in Canada any more. Thats half the problem. It takes alot of $$$ to get into office and getting it is what makes these politicians so corrupted by the time they actually do take power. This is why i say a general strike would put the power back in the hands of the people for the cost of a day's wages.
