I am a real dj

I am a real DJ the thing is, my tables are inexistent. I had them back in victoria, but now I'm back at my parents over the summer and have no tables here, so traktor is the best i can do.... unless you want to sponsor me with $1500 canadian, then I could get myself some descent tables. I've made a couple with traktor and i think they rock, just have to perfect a great trance one.....

you'll be amazed to find out some PCDJs are actually able to put up very good sets that might even sound better than many vinyl djs.

Last year this question came up, about using software to mix the set. And the response is going to be the same. You can use software to mix the sets, but ulitmately the person who chooses the winner is Markus Schulz who knows what he is listening for. He said that he can definetly tell the difference between software vs a real DJ.

HHHHMMMMMMMMM, interesting. The man must have quite an ear. But nonetheless, I've never entered into a comp before, it sucks that it can only be 55 minutes though. I guess they need to fit it into a time slot.

oh come on! there's no way he can hear the difference. who said there is a difference? they both can sound just the same

Posted by Stilez on May-26-2004 21:19:

If we have an existing 75min mix... could we cut it down to 60min?? or does it have to be exactly 55min... and not eidted to fit that time span?

Posted by globalgirl on May-26-2004 21:21:

55 mins

the sets we air are 55 mins, and the 5 mins are usually commercials. So in order for your set to not get cut off in the middle of a song if you win, we are asking all sets to be 55 mins in length.

having a go at it for sure

I wanted to possibly make my set more creative by putting 1 or 2 of my original tracks or remixes on there, that have never been released. I was wondering if thats ok or does there have to be only released tracks?

May I send in someone else's under there name because they are away for a few months?

Hmmmmmm Interesting... might consider getting into this... even if you don't win, you may get noticed by someone listening to your set... Then again.. I might also be dreaming...

This does looking very interesting. Especially since I am in the middle of putting together a demo dj mix. I am curious of one thing though, do the tracks in the mix have to be brand new or can they be older tunes? Considering I don't have many of the newest tunes on vinyl, I would like to know.

Well, I'm guessing they don't have to be BRAND new, as long as you make the set enjoyable. I'm, for instance, not going to be here in August, but I'm going to buy some 2004 tunes and mix them with some I already own, and hope that the demo is good enough

is there a prefernce between a 'demo-cd vibe' to a 'live-set vibe'?

I believe live performance (assuming it's peak time) would be way more dynamic and less 'intelligent'. Way too many of those 'beautiful-home-made vibe' sets out there.. If your set is intelligent (demo-cd vibe, as you call it) and brilliant, I believe they'll broadcast it, but in order to play out live you need to show above all you can rock the crowd.

Rasta

Looks like I still might have time. This is dope!

Posted by DanAX on Jun-16-2004 16:54:

how do I register for this from their site?

Posted by globalgirl on Jun-18-2004 15:49:

the sets have started pouring in and they are amazing! thanks so much for everyone who has already sent in their set and we're looking forward to those sets yet to come. remember the cut off date is August 2, so you still have plenty of time!

I have done a mix just over 55 minutes (approx 58 minutes). Is it okay to use soundforge to snip the little bit off the end and fade out?
