No no, I start off my mix knowing the first 5-6 tracks that Im gonna spin. The last track that I know Im gonna spin is the track that sets the tempo for the rest of the mix. For example, lets say I start out with a track thats 136bpm, with in the next 5 tracks I will work up to the speed/bpm that I like. When I reach that speed, I stay there, and from there forth, my job it to maintain that tempo and flow.

I just recently bought Sennheiser HD280 headphones, cost me $75 USD (that would be like 45 quid), they are good headphones for what they cost... they are clear and punchy.

In that case, just order it from the US and have it shipped to the UK. Mind you international shipping might cost alittle more than the norm, but it would still be less than what they charge just for the headphones.

I don't understand why the 6th track would be the tempo setter. For me the first track is always the tempo setter. Unless I am going to do an ambient mix in there somewhere. But once my first track is playing all the following tracks are at that bpm.

Liam, I am with you... Unless you are switching types of music, there is no real reason to let a future track designate what your tempo will be through your entire set. Find a nice solid tempo (I like the 132-134 BPM area), have my first track in that range and play through the set in that area. No reason to always be adjusting the tempo faster and faster unless you are working your way through different genres of music.

its really a question of personal style. i like to mix in alot of different genres. if i start off very proggy then it will be slow but if i end with trance... those tracks dont even go as slow as the proggy tunes do, or even if they do they sound funny pitched all the way down

alot of djs spin only one genre in which case the tracks is what drives the mix forward. some djs [like myself] want to mix different genres in which case the tracks, genre, and tempo all progress throughout the mix.

personally though, i dont change the tempo too much but i do try to edge it alittle faster as my mix progresses. i like to start slowly as a warmup and then pick up the pace becuase that makes sense to me but thats just my personal style.

That's cool man, definitely a very different style. I play different genres as well (speedgarage, uk garage, 2step) but they are all in and around the same bpm. So this concept of tempo progression is strange to me.

haha i guess i see what you mean.. i just like to start everything off slowly. heh...

I use the 6th track because I do alternate types of music. I start off in my mixes around 136, use those 6 tracks to warm it up and go up to around 140.
