First of all congrats to Emz and John for running things this far. You both fucking own. Next, hearing all the djs that I managed to hear that night was just wicked. I only feel bad that I couldn't get there earlier because of work. As for the overall vibe? NOTHING beats it, partying with people who you can look at as being very close friends doesn't compare to anything else partywise no matter who the dj is. Here's to the next TA party. See you all tomorrow night.

grrrrrr.....after reading all the reviews i wish i had gone...decided to stay home friday and saturday after a tough week at work....

glad to hear everything went well and the night was a success...congrats to john and emery on all your hard work in puting these nights together...

the only thing that could possibly over shadow the talent of the dj's is the quality of the people involved in these parties, behind the scenes and on the dance floor...looking forward very much to attending the next one...

Interference One Year

WOW. What a night! What a fitting tribute to a years worth of so many people's hard work. John, Emery, thanks for everything. And Carlos, you're so right when you call the TOTA nation a family: so many wonderful people, so unitary, I feel so priviledged to have so many amazing friends.

As for the evening's performances:
Mossey&Schryer: Holy shit. You guys played so well together. On all counts, that was a great performance. I really would love to hear you two do that kind of thing again!
Eric: So solid
Deepgroove: Guys, it was such a pleasure playing with such a great act @ Decadence, and it was such a pleasure playing with such a great act again. You brought the house down.
Deko-Ze: So bangin', so good.
Mobius&Fuzion: Great work guys. Great transition from tech to trance, especially given the weird situation @ the beginning of your set.
Eso&24/7: Guys, you rock. Such a great team. Can't wait to record this week's ETS show w/ you today. Rich: I love that Diablo tune/remix.

My tracklisting:
1. Agoria--Organic(VinylEdit)--Peer
+ Versa--ChantingSouls(accapella)--SAW
2. Lizana&J.Chab--Drastic--Tekktonn
3. Funktion--Seduction--AlternativeRoute
+ SmashingPumpkins--Disarm--Hutt

Wow!! What a great night!! The vibe was off the hook!

All the DJ's spun amazing sets! You guys had me bouncing the whole night. Eventually had to call it a night at 6pm....legs...soooo sore.

Shoutouts to everyone I met over the course of the night, you're all sooo great to party with!!!

Thank you to John & Emery for putting on (another) wonderful event. I can forsee other nights just like this in the upcoming year. Happy Anniversary 1NT3RF3R3NC3 PRODUCTIONS !

Jason.

I was wondering who dropped this track. I was buried in further back on the dancefloor (holy shit it WAS a crowded one) and couldn't see if it was you or one of the deep groove boys. Thanks Matt..love this one. As I said, not one second was spent off the dancefloor during the Vagrant/Deep Groove set and this song just made it all the sweeter!

i started a review yesterday ... but got sidetracked falling asleep ...hehe!

i think this was probably the best party i've been to at system! everywhere i went and looked i got hugs and kisses left, right and centre from all of you, ... huge, happy smiling faces everywhere i looked! it was overwhelming! ...

the best part of the nite was the handing over of the present to John and to see him all touched, holding back some tears! it was a wonderful & very moving feeling to see everyone of us standing around him, hands up in the air, cheering for him, and everyone giving big hugs and kisses, - guys and girls! it really was the get-together of one big family!!

the love, vibe and energy in a club all to ourselves was definitely unprecedented! the tunes were pumping and energetic all nite long, and all the DJ's did an amazing job!!

thank you so much John, and Emery as well, for providing us with all this! i think i speak for everyone when i say that you make all very happy!

this was definitely another landmark event for our group!

i will see many of you tonite at Freedom!

Malek - i'm glad that you came down from Montreal to spend a long weekend with your new group of friends! it was great seeing you on fri. and to be able to spend some quality time with you! it's been a while cos i've been missing you a lot, sweety!! ... my one and only true friend from Montreal ... after all we've been through!

Every now and again, certain moments in time set themselves apart as a memory you instantly know will stay crisp and fresh in one's mind. For me, this night was one of those rare moments. The degree of togetherness and support from so many angles was no less than jaw-dropping.

Before I get into the review I must honestly say despite all the amazing music and performances by my fellow DJ's, the pinnacle of my night was by far the moment a circle of faces converged around our friend and promoter, John. In that moment, every reason I love this scene and the people it calls out to, was clearly visible. As DJ's, fans, and friends, we all were thankful for the tireless support and often overlooked work behind the scenes by this great person. John, I hope you now see your work DOES touch people and have great value. It amazed me when looking around at that point, the sheer diversity of the friends we have come to know and care about within this microcosm. I do not think one could cast a more varied group of people, and that is what amazes me. So many diferent backgrounds, cultures and outlooks all converged together as respected friends strictly on the power of our love of the music and it's community.

Now for the review. First off, playing with Mike was something I've long asked John to make happen. Upon meeting him and Jenna, I instantly realized an uncanny similarity in our approach and style as DJ's but more inportantly they were both people I knew right off as special. Going into the night, neither Mike or I had played together, let alone attempted a full versus set on 4 tables and two mixers. Not even we, I don't think expected to hammer a set as well as we did playing off eachother and setting each other's tunes up so well. Mike, It was truly my pleasure to play with you!!!!!!

p.s. - Just so you all know how similar we were up there: Twice in our set, one of us played a track the other was planning to play. When you think of the countless tracks and remixes out there, that's pretty amazing.

Vagrant & Deepgroove: Holy freight-train of a set. The energy of the dark proggy-trance and techno laced beats was pure delicousness. Matt, I think it was you that played the pumpkins vocal.....just so you know, when the drop came, everyone one the floor was singing along.....pure bliss!!!!! Eric, as always I get so excited to hear you play. You are the master of the DEEP prog!!!! As for Ariel and Alex, you guys are SOOO killer. The proggy-trance near the end OWNED me and I trainspotted a few from my own case as well!!!!

Dekoze: What can I say? Every time I hear you I feel happily raped!!! There was some serious "Roland Clarke style" vocal madness going on and your mixer work is a 12/10. Where you find all that head splitting tribal techno, I'll never know........but in the words of Release reviews......that was MASSIVE!!!!!!

Mobius and Cinar: Firstly, Carlos showed amazing class in starting his set with LKD & Max's remix as promised despite following Dekoze's Mayhem. You gained a lot of respect from that playing it despite knowing the flow would change. Peak time all the way from both of you...can't wait to see the tracklist to pick out some of the killer tunes you both played.

Eso and Rich: People need to realize how amazing it is to have two people who were there from the start, still have so much love and energy to give by the time you guys went on. I was in awe. Rich, the second track you played, blew my head off with a crazy blend of techno proggy funk and Eso, holy techno madness. I will definitly be aching to hear your set again on the recordings!!!!!!!

Other thanks to Sgt. Foo for the dedicated work in recording the night for us, the countless people from TA who always show such world-class support (way too many to mention....ok RJ has to be mentioned.... DOOODE) and all the regular system fans who gave this night a chance and were so happily entertained.

Saving the best for last: Without a doubt, I would truly be nothing without all the constant help and support from my GF, Heidi (Angelgirl). The effort she put into recruit and pack the guestlist was unbelievable. One a daily basis, the support and work she volunteers for my benefit as a DJ is infinite and I can only thank her everyday!!!!

Ok so when is the next one???????????????

peace

FF

What can I say that wasn't already said?

That's the earliest and fastest I've ever seen the floor mashed up with TOTAs!!! wOOp! wOOp!

Was great to see everyone out, I'm just sad that I had to leave a little earlier than I wanted.

I really, really look forward to the next big one!

And John...you DA MAN!!!
Thank you thank you thank you for all your hookups and being a great guy to boot! (Sorry for trying to steal your beer too btw... )

Next time I'll be staying later for sure!

Posted by Max Q on May-25-2004 04:20:

Yeah, isn't it hard to write a review when everyone else has already said what you wanted to say?

Nonetheless, i'll break it down anyway...

Aaron and Mike -- Wow.. you guys opened up really well!! Bangin' tracks -- loved to see you guys work together SO well. You guys definitely make a great team! Can't wait to hear you guys again!

Vagrant and DeepGroove -- What a great followup to a great set! You guys kept it goin' and I enjoyed every minute of it!

Deko-ze -- Bangin' as usual. Didn't expect ANYTHING less from you. (although your presence was a surprise )

Mobius 'n' Fuzion - Carlos, I feel bad that you were put in an awful spot like that. After a pumpin' techno set from Deko-ze, I won't lie -- i was very worried that our track wasn't gonna fit (and kinda hoping that you weren't gonna go through with playin' it -- we would have TOTALLY understood why if you chose not to) but at the same time like Moss said you showed lotsa class by droppin' it still. You're a great DJ and a great guy as well. Thank you very much for the opportunity. And great job bringin' the crowd back with the rest of your set!!

I had to leave shortly after that, so I ended up missing the rest of your set, and missed Peter 'n' Rich's as well

But what a great night nonetheless!

John and Emz -- thanks once again for all your hard work and dedication to this! As you saw that night in the Front Room, your efforts DEFINITELY don't go unnoticed, and definitely are appreciated and loved by all! Can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of this year.

Hello to everyone I talked to and saw that night! Love all around

Max

1NT3RF3R3NC3 PRODUCTIONS
1 YR ANNIVERSARY EVENT!

Thanks to all those crazy people who came out to our 1 year anniversary event in the main room of System! You guys really showed System what we're all about!

I'm so speechless and have no clue where to start this review. It was a nerve racking week for Alex, Emery and I. Couldnt stop thinking about how the turn out will be for this event. Just like last year with the planning of Invasion 001, but 10X worse, b/c it's the main room this time around. Both events I had a lot on the line, but its was worth the risk for TOTA.

(Personal log, skip it if you want; this explains the zombie/drunken look I had on Friday)

Few months ago Emery, Deep Groove, Ryan Parks and I have been thinking about this event for a while now and the planning and organization to some time. We wanted to try something very special for you all you guys for the 1 year Anniversary, something different and something a little bit bigger then what we had in the VIP room and Front room. So we approach this idea to the managers of System and he pointed out some real problems with this event. Such as, the first long weekend of the summer! (Example: people will be out of town) So we thought about it for a month and confirmed the green flag. If we didnt hit a certain number, we will never get the chance to use the main room. It was do or die for us. As Emery said, "Come celebrate Interference's final party!" It was so hard to pick this line up; so many good DJs have spun for us in the past and such little time to work with. (I hope you guys like the line up though and understand what he had to do) I've waited so long to organize a VS battle event and this was the time to do it. Alex from Deep Groove suggested we should hook up 4 Turntables, 2 mixer and 2 CDJs for the setup and shortly after speaking to the 2 sound guys, it was confirmed! (Danja!)

Finaly, the day of the event arrived and sometime in that afternoon, I got a call from the Alex saying the managers of System and some very important people are requesting Deko-ze to be added to the line up. We had up to one hour to figure something out. Emery and I were so stressed and under pressure at this point. "How are going to fit him in? The time slots are rammed jammed, as it is!" Then the lights hit me, cut some sets down and get an extension to keep the club opened a bit longer. We got the confirmation and things were cool for now. I got to the clubb at 9pm with Ryan Parks, to setup and to meet up with StgFoo. Everything was ready and the setup time didn't take too long. Slowly all the DJs arrived to test the sound system and to play around with the DJ setup.

10:30pm rolls around and I was checking the amount of people in the front room. Now at this point of the night, the hardcore pressure and stress started for me. The front room didn't seem to be packed enough for the main room yet. At 11:00pm, the doors open and the main room. Suddenly I see all the people rush to main room and I saw how empty it was, "OMG I"m fucked!" Through out the night, slowly the place was getting busier and when 12:00am hit, I was felt this is it and we're done for. There were a lot of people but, still not enough to hit our target. I found out a few minutes later that the line up was pretty long and wide, I heard it was wrapped around the front doors of Tonic at one point.

Later on the night, while Deep Groove and Vagrant were on the decks the club was filled up nicely. From this point I was feeling a bit better and the stress wasnt so crazy anymore. I looked at Emery and said I guess it turned out ok and he said "there's still huge line to get in" Once Deko-ze came on, pretty much everyone was inside and things were cool now for me. Thank goodness for the Karma Gods!

(This kinda gets bhatti here ... so pls bare with me pls)

I was in the front room when Jon Tremblay and El Duren were just switching over and I noticed the whole front room was rammed jammed with everyone! Emery told me he wanted to film some girls and we went to the middle of the room. Now this was beyond fucked up here ... all these TAs were surrounding, starring and smiling at me for some strange reason. "Ok, this must be the part where they going to give me some kind of Anniversary beat down!" Trust me, if you were in my shoes, you would have felt the paranoia I was going through. Suddenly Emery hands over this card to me with all these people signing shit all over it. "Oh shit, what the hell is this?" Then I glanced through it and it was the coolest card Ive ever gotten in my life, with the most thoughtful and meaning full words from everyone. I was in total shock and happiness rushed through me. Then suddenly people were covering my eyes for some fucked up reason, and then a box was handed to me ... Jesus I couldn't believe what was in my hand. I almost cried, for fuck sakes! Then everyone tells me to open it! My god, that deck was the slickest shit I've seen. (Thank you so much you crazy ppl! You really didn't have to do this at all! Just your support when one of our DJs is spinning, it's more then enough happiness for me! THANK YOU!)

At this point, I went to the office to see if they were happy with the turn out. Sat down and the big smile and the good news came from the managers! They were really happy with everything; of course this made me jump up and down like a mad man! We are allowed to the return to the main room!

Now to the Review of the night!

-MAIN ROOM - 4 decks, 2 mixers & 2 CDJs, powered by one of the most talented & creative DJs in Toronto!

Aaron Mossey & Mike Schyer

You guys were excellent; the mixing and track selections were so slick! Huge smiles on your faces! You guys we're having fun and partying it out like you were on the dance floor! I'm glad pairing you guys was a success! I hope to see you guys become a team one day!

Deep Groove & Vagrant
This classic teams spinning with each other was a sight to see in the main room! I've always wanted to see this happen and last night was the night! All four of you guys were just BOD MONs behind the decks. Amazingly impressive!

Deko-ze (Guest of Honor)
Interference was so honored for you to join us on our 1 year Anniversary! My God, that was such a nice set! This was the first time I got to see you up close behind the decks and you were so busy with that mixer! Bangin' set! As Carlos said to me, when I told him about Deko-ze added to the bill K ya cant go wrong with Deko-ze! Thank you sir!

Cinar Onat & Mobius
Just like Carlos said in his review, it was a tuff act to follow after but, IMO you guys held it down proppa! I knew deep down inside you guys would fit as a team and I was happy to see you guys together! You guys covered all genres and programed that set perfectly. Just like the opening act, I hope you guys become a team as well!

DJ Eso & DJ 24_7
I was wishing you guys weren't going to play so hard, b/c I was dammed tired from the night K but, I was wrong in a good way! Nothing like bangin' hard ass tracks with the nice blend of trance to finish off the night! Wow, so many nice tracks I've never heard before were being dropped! A lot of people stayed behind for you guys and from crowd response, they loved it!

Front Room

Jon Tremblay
You never let me down, always on top of things and always know how to hold it down proppa! Thank you sir!

El Duren
One of the most underrated DJs in Toronto! Always busy with the mixer! Thank you for joining us on this special night! Respects Alan

Hecate
You spun a very good set, thanks for keeping it sharp in the front room. I hope to hear more of you in the future!

Back Room

Out of Hand
Thanks for keeping that back room full every week! Simple one of the wickest breaks, week after week ... you guys always do a great job!

Well, I'm not usually one for reviews, but I owe such a debt to John, Emery, and the rest of TA and it's talented DJs.

From the houseparty last year, to System on a Friday, you all have made up a signifigant party of the good times I've enjoyed this past year.

This Friday was a prime example... not 30minutes removed from discovering my own deck had been ripped out of my car, and lots of stuff stolen, I made it to System to be tackled, hugged, kissed, and greeted with the biggest smiles and enthusiasm that it made any negativity seem miniscoule.

I could break down every set, and each person that made the night memorable, but "YOU ALL KICK ASS" sums it up nicely.

Thanks to you all, it was a helluva night.
