well
contracts and residency agreements are by territory not by company. because a company i am a resident for in one city expands to another it does not automatically make me a resident in the new city...

| Originally posted by Your Mother Dude, get a fucking clue... I said they were residents, I never said they are going to shut down the Guv. Who does the Guvernment have as their resident(s)??? Mark Fucking Oliver... not bad, but not great either, and to suggest he's even in the same ballpark as the DJ's I mentioned would show how little you really know. When a promoter can have that level of talent as their resident dj's then just think of the type of talent they can pull in on any given night (I've seen it happen many times). If the docks (with Spundae/GK) went up against the Guvernment head-to-head on Saturday nights, the Docks could easily steal the Guv's client-base. All they have to do is provide a comparable sound-system, comparable light-show, and a better DJ lineup. The first 2 are most likely in place due to the recent renovations, and the last will be a joke with someone like Spundae/GK backing it. Whether or not Spundae/GK backs a Saturday night party remains to be seen. Why does the Guv typically bring in many of the top DJ's on Thursday nights and not Saturday nights? Its because they don't have nearly as much pull or respect as the big promoters in the global clubbing community. The big boys get who they want first... they have the most money, and they are the promoters that everyone wants to play for. The level of power and influence that Spundae/GK has dwarfs anything the Guv can come up with. -Your Mother |

funny how the only retort to what i had to say was "he only plays 8 hours"
Well i have news for you. I have yet to see a night when hes not there by 10.
But since you only come on New Years Eve you know it all i guess...

Not to mention you show up on a night where the theme of the night is club anthems of years gone by. Come by on a normal saturday night, stay the whole night and then give me a proper review please. |

Trust me.... i HAVE watched him
Jayx1, Why dont you tell "your mother" what you do? In my opinion Mark has more upfront music and a stronger selection than many of the spundae residents. G&D as producers are without a doubt fantastic but as dj's need to grow. J Bonham does nothing for me at all, but thats just me. Max Graham is solid and deserves his props. lets not shit on Mark since he has outshined many guests at Guv over the years and does a good job at supporting the music. Guv could easily have z103 in the house with Biggs and Danny D. Just like the Docks did in the past.
Bottom line its a nice change for the Docks and TO

East Londoner, thats exactly my point. IMO the more clubs the better. But since guv bashing seems to be the cool thing to do i just had to say something about it. And anyone who denies that certain local residents have had a huge impact here have their heads in their asses. Im not saying you should like or dislike a particular DJ. What i am saying is that their acheivements should be seen for what they are. I dont like paul oakenfold for example but hes definately made a huge mark on the electronic music scene.
Ill keep saying it, the more options we have in Toronto the better...
Period..
