Got to stay in a big castle that had been converted to a Youth Hostel, in the middle of nowhere, Scotland. Got the room which is said to be visited by the ghost of a hair stroking nanny...
Nothing happened.
Figure she must have been put off by the Aussie chick who bunkered up with a "boyfriend for the night" in the bunk below.
I don''t know which experience was more disturbing - the one I put up with or the one that didn't happen. Hooray for earplugs...

Have a couple of friends though, who have lived in haunted places - one woke up to the sensation of something "not very nice" hovering inches from his face. He couldn't bring himself to open his eyes.
He met (by coincidence) someone who reported a similar experience - it turned out this guy lived in the place next door.
They think it was the ghost of a dog (on account of something that growled in the room) at another person who was visiting.

My other friend (previously a non believer in "that kind of thing") shifted into a house that had a poltergeist that knocked on doors (in the house) in the small hours of the morning, busted lightbulbs, drove the dog mad, (they'd find her off her chain every time she'd had a barking fit in the night, and she was a pit-bull, so it was unlikely to be kids joking.)

Ghost stories intrigue me. Never experienced one myself though.

I notice that when people tell ghost stories they always say my friend or my friend's friend has seen a ghost. I haven't seen one and I don't believe in ghosts. Probably what happens is that people's senses become more sensitive when they expect a ghost so their mind starts playing games with them or they just fall prey to someone's joke.

There's this old insane asylum out wher ei used to live called Dixmont. That place is freeeeaky as michael jackson. About once a year i'd go out there with a group of friends and sneak in. It's a incredibley scarey place at 2am. You'll hear doors slamming, footsteps, moans, groans, and the occasional walking ghost. I read up no the internet about the place and where all the hotspots are.

I had a couple really scarey thing happen to me that weren't just groans or bumps in the night.

First thing that happened was I was sitting down about 20 feet away from my friends on this step and everyone was just kidda flashing their flash lights around when I just hear this heavy breathing that sounded like it was coming from right ontop my head, hairs on the back of my neck stood up - i bolted upright and no one was behind me. That freaked me th efuck out.

Second time was we were sitting on these windows in like the second floor at th eend of this long hallway. First we hear a door slam and then we all see 2 shadow figures start walking down the hall for about 15 seconds until they disappeared. One was tall the other was short, and they just walked down the hall together. Just dark shadow figures - you could see right through them. We all got the fuck outta there real quick.

3rd scariest thing that ever happened to me was I went up there with this chick and my friend. We got into about the middle of it when hell broke loose. Now I know that a door slamming doesn't really qualify as a ghost, could just be the wind ya know but not this. All over the entire place you could hear slamming doors and it sounded like something was running down the halls really fast. We got outta there real quick.

ha, ghost stories are funny. But I dont' believe in any of it since your brain can fool you so easily.

anyways, the closest thing I experienced to a ghost was when I was napping, I woke up and felt someone sitting on my bed, kinda leaning towards me. however I knew the mind plays tricks when you are wakin, so I just opened my eyes and that lil feeling of someone there slowly faded.

funny part is that I was still tired and I fell back asleep, and the samething happened.

another thing is with those scam artist like John Edwards that say they can speak to the dead.....HA, check out this site and tell me its real..

http://www.re-quest.net/entertainme...dward/index.htm

I alos used to visit those closed down asylums, they were freaky, only because they were dark, and at first, we didn't know the people and bums there that scared everyone. it was hilarious when we met them though. aaahhh good times, it was like a year round haunted house.

just realise what reality is, it is a neural signal in the brain, now just imagine how easy it is to fool that neural signal. theres your ghost.

in the same house i was playing in the living room while my mom was cookingsome shit in the kitchen when we heard a loud knock on the door that was located in the kitchen which lead to our garage...when we opened it it was pitchblack and no one was there

about like ten years ago my family went to reno, and it was about 2 in the morning and i was still awake for some reason when i heard a random knock on our door...now what kind of person for whatever reason would knock on our door at two in the morning...weird

sounds like u got a case of a crackhead bum that lives around uyr house

Well, my mom once felt like the door to the basement was being kicked and tried to open hard. There was only her, my dog and me in the house (I was sleeping). Anyway, she opened the door, made the dog run down, woke me up, and me me check out the basement (might sound funny, but really happened).

Also, my aunt told me when I was a kid, that my uncle when he was like 5, almost got kidnapped by some dwarfs from another dimension

Other than that, some shadows appeared to some friend and a virgin in a town in Venezuela (which turned out to be fake).

Once I went to Spider Gates cemetery at 1am, but nothing happened...

My girlfriend had an experience soon after her great grandfather died. She came home and was walking up the stairs one evening when a white figure appeared at the top of the stairs, came down and passed right through her and out of the front door

Also a colleague of my Dads lived alone about 3miles off the end of the northern runway at Londons Heathrow Airport. She was in her mid twenties and was talking to others at work about strange goings on at the house, she said things like she would unpack the groceries from her car and put them on the doorstep then go to fetch more from the car and when she returned they would be gone. She'd then find them in the kitchen even though the house hadn't been unlocked. She said she would often hear uncontrolable sobbing and wailing and a voice whisper 'It was all my fault'. My Dad being the person he is put two and two together and said that it could be the ghost of a pilot of a BEA aircraft that crashed about a quarter of a mile from the house after taking off from Heathrow in the 1970s, a plane that crashed due to pilot error hence the 'Its all my fault'. The young lady in the house knew nothing (well claimed she knew nothing) about this plane crash and had the fright of her life when she saw the ghost of a man in pilots uniform at the top of her stairs one night.

Well, typically I dont believe in much of anything but I did have something really weird happen to me.

My great grandfather is buried in an old graveyard in Bethesda, Arkansas and once while driving with my friend, I passed through and stopped off to see his plot and pay respects. Now this graveyard is really old for the parts, with Civil War victims in the center and surrounding graves going through the outer (It even had an old, old "colored" section which was discontinued back in the 60s). My granpa was on the far side of the graveyard.

The other interesting thing is that it had a moat in its front entrance with a bridge. I couldnt drive my car up over the bridge so I parked and began to walk with my friend in the car. About halfway over the bridge, I hear a "maaaaauuww" and look down and see a ratty old black cat sitting near the small stream and looking at me. I said "hi" to it and continued on.

Now getting up to the other side of the graveyard was a chore since it was the middle of summer and everything was roasting but I made it, sat down next to my granpa and paid my respects for about a half hour.

I am walking back and start reading the gravestones and become interested in the oldest ones in the center so I head there. The biggest one is this huge stone which looked like someone chipped it with a pickax out of solid stone and had an extremely old iron gate surrounding the grave with everything overgrown inside it. I head to this one and try to begin to read the faded old lettering and pick up this person was there even before the Civil War. There is some lettering hidden under the weeds so I bend over and tried to brush it aside to read.

Something hissed in my ear...and I mean like a snake was 2 inches from my head. I jumped and fell backward and butt scooted back, thinking there was a rattler in the weeds but nothing moved. The next thing that happened was in 2 parts: One the cicadas and crickets stopped all at once and Two, it got cold. I mean a temperature drop to where my skin goosebumped immediately and I could swear I saw my breath. It scared the ever living shiat out of me.

I jumped up and half jogged/half ran the rest of the way and stopped at the bridge because I had the shakes, more from fear than anything. I looked down and there is the cat again, same place.....dead. And dead for a while.

I tore out of that place. Scared the crap out of me.
