Well, if you pay for the brand, the least they can do @ GK is properly support you by posting your events, and some detail other than the location.

It's a little hard to Promote if head-office doesn't hold up their end...

Uh-oh, you've got a sense of humour... might not last long on this board.

I can't see how you can criticize something that is so new. I think it is very difficult to start a club and expect it to be bumping from day one. I think the Docks is doing a great thing for Toronto, and if people criticize new things, it will make it less likely that companies will try new events. Toronto needs a new infusion of great club nights, and with some of the talet Godskitchen is brining in, the big nights will be off the hook.

Great looking club, with crazy ass sound....keep the big names rollin in

Peace,
Rich

I don't really understand trance (and prog house fans) at all..

1) they bitch at people for listening to crap music, and should give trance a try.. THEN

Bitch about tiesto, avb, or anyone else listening to trance on the radio.

2) Complain about no trance nights, or any good party's in toronto anymore, and how everything is filled with rap

Bitch about the name or promotion ways, or a slower night at a certain trance party

3) Complain we don't get enough International trance dj's here, and always want to see the big names

Bitch if there's alot of people there to see the party, or if it's more than 20$

Give the docks a chance.. Rome wasn't built overnight..

I too think the Docks is a great venue, love that they have invested in new sound/set up and I have no issue with the talent they are starting to line up for their GK nights. My critism was directed at their marketing material and in how they advertised the night. I work in marketing and promotions within the entertainment industry and the first flyer presented by the Docks was just laughable...especially if they think their demo is the EDM crowd and not a hiphop/top40 one. The Docks won't fill their club with a respectful EMD crowd if you use the likes of the bad ass bitches to get people in the door. The venue and the djs would be enough. Actually, the patio will most likely be full all summer regardless of the talent you bring in because of the venue and its proximity to the lake. So the question becomes: what type of crowd do they want on that patio? All I am saying is that if you are looking to fill it with people other than a sleezy spring break crowd, then you might want to rethink your marketing strategy. First rule in marketing, is know your demo! If the Docks wants a classless crowd, then the flyer was a good fit. If they want a dancefloor that is full of people who are attending their GK nights because they love the DJ and his/her music, it wasn't.
Personally I would rather dance along side those people who actaully know who Johan Gielen is as opposed to along side a messy drunk who was drawn to the club because of the pole dancing and porn marketing ploys. But that is just me.

i couldn't agree more with this post...b4 it used to be EDM vs. world. becuase we thought(think) we have the better music. Now its EDM vs. EDM????! it doesn't matter what we try to do anymore in this city, its always bitching and complaining...i am so thankful that big international djs actually come here, and ppl are always complaining about the guvernment, now the docks among any other club basically. and then you have the prog lovers that hate trance, and the trance lovers that hate prog...and the list goes on and no ones ever satisfied.

Halliwell & Lashes :O

Relax people. Its only been two weeks and please don't compare the Godskitchen events here with those in the UK. Keep in mind how different a scene it is over there compared to here. Don't forget how long promoters like Gatecrasher and Godskitchen have been doing parties over there. Don't expect anyone and everyone that knows electronic music here to jump at the first mention of the name Godskitchen. You'd be surprised at how many people here don't know the name or could care less about it. Also, keep in mind the kind of lineups that the Godskitchen events over there consist of. You're looking at 2-3 of the top 10 DJs at least. So far we've had George Acosta and Jimmy Van M - good DJs no doubt but not names that would inspire thousands to come out. Doubtful Tommy Lee is going to bring out the numbers (of non-star-gazing) clubbers. Let's give Gielen, Lashes and Halliwell a chance and see what happens. After all, its seems that in this town it takes big names to bring out the kind of numbers you're looking for.
