thats low...tsk tsk tsk...I was pretty close to being right tho...wouldn't you agree?...Detroit up 5 points with less than a minute left...Cmon, even Jack Nicholson was sweating and praying next to the Detroit bench...Haha...but the Lakers won't win a game in Detroit for sure...Their defense is good on the road but their defense at home, well as the infamous Donny Brasco once put it, "forget about it". I'd have to agree, they are making defensive basketball look pretty.

I doubt detroit will win all three games at home. They haven't been able to win three games straight since the first round(excluding the fact that they lost one at home), what makes you think they can do that in the finals? Detroit's lost at least one game at home every series, I see the same in the next 3 games.

What determines the winner of the finals is if detroit can win 2 at home, or if the lakers can pull 2 off the road. I guarentee one win for the lakers at the palace.. But if detroit wins say, the games 4 & 5, i dont think the Lakers can win game 6. Their morale will be too down. But you never know, the lakers this year are way unpredictable.

that is true..everybody counted them out in the san antonio series..who would have thought after losing 2 games they would sweep the champs..if anything lakers play thier best when they are down..

Detroit will win games 3 and 4 DEFINITELY...no doubt bout that...there defense will just be too much of a factor in the first two games back home...the third home game, game 5, will be the test of truth obviously, because if they lose game 5 and head back to LA for the final two games, up 3-2, they may lose the final two in LA...that is very possible...so the trick is to win all three in Detroit or chances are, they lose series...And i think the Pistons understand their position and know that they must win the next three or they could let it all slip away...the recovery from the devastating loss in game 2 will be tough for the Pistons but the home advantage, with the NBA's best defensive team in the last 5 years, may turn out to be too much even for Shaq, Kobe, Payton, and the flaking Malone...

PS. In life I have realized certain things..One thing that seems to be more certain than not, it's when predictions and certain guarantees are made, they almost never or rarely hold up...Its just murphy's law at work...Everyone, I mean EVERYONE, had the Lakers winning the championship in the preseason this past year...Starting off slow, the hype calmed down...Speculations were being made bout chemistry and too many all stars on the same team...Kobe in legal trouble, Shaq getting hurt, Payton whining all the time, Malone just getting old, but then they start winning again, like the lakers of old...and they go on a hot run to end the season giving them a strong record to end the season and ultimately giving them home court advantage in this years Finals...But this is where murphy's law likes to come into play...Everyone now, and still rightfully so, think the Lakers will win...The novice fan understands that they are over-loaded with talent...The experienced fan understands that they are good and dominant, but the last year it will all hold together for that team...Then you have me, the doubtful/cautious/risk-adverse fan and I believe whenever Murphy has a chance to screw things up, he does...I particularly don't like the Detroit Pistons but I don't care for KOBE and the non-charismatic Lakers...And from my observance, this finals can only end up in an upset by Detroit cuz everyone, and i mean alot of people still think the lakers are too good for Detroit...are they you ask?...i think they are loaded with more talent but when did Murphy ever care about that?...Sorry for all those that bet on LA this year...

There is absolutely no way Detroit will win all 3 games at home. I'm pretty sure it has never been done since the 2-3-2 series has been around.

Posted by Hanki on Jun-10-2004 20:28:

Well, we'll see who's predictions are better tonight! I think, that after these 3 games in Detroit Pistons will lead the series 3:2.

I'm pretty sure your right. But records are meant to be broken. If a team hasn't done it yet, why not now?

Okay, but isn't that what I already stated? Detroit knows that 3-2 is probably what will realistically happen after these next 3 games, but if that does occur, they will most likely lose the series in LA. Therefore, they need to sweep next 3 or chances are, its over for them, and they KNOW this. LA is hard to win at, we saw it in game 2. So, sweep or lose for Detroit, really no other alternative if you think about it.

And for those that want to argue that Detroit could win another game in LA is dreaming. If LA wins one game in Detroit and gets home court advantage back, Detroit loses the Finals. So with these several outcomes possible, what do you think Larry Brown and Company think that they have to do?

Its sweep or lose. Simple.

A lot of teams have been in sudden death situations knowing they're finished if they don't win. It doesn't automatically mean they're going to win on heart alone. The whole "I want it more" just doesn't work in this situation, because even though the Pistons know they have to win, Malone and Payton would shove their mothers off a train for a ring. So there are arguments for both side of why they need to win, and why they "should".

As for records are meant to be broken...not this time.

After watching game 2, I believe Kobe will have his way in this series, and Shaq as always. I doubt Kobe will dominate the Pistons in game 3 since they'll probably make major adjustments in guarding him, but I guarantee he will atleast have a significant impact in all the games. Shaq is unstoppable. Put all 5 Pistons on him, he'll still tear them, 'nuff said about that. The Pistons are a worthy contender considering how much depth their roster has, but Lakers are just too much for them. Lakers will win their 15th championship of their franchise by game 6.

Damn the Lakers got SPANKED tonight. Final Score 88 - 68 PISTONS. That Piston Defense is amazing.

Phase 1 is complete...as for the next two...just a matter of time...

Game 3 stats:

Shaquille Oneal: 14 Pts 8 Reb 38 Mins
Post Season Average: 21 Pts 13 Reb 41 Mins

Kobe Bryant: 11 Pts 3 Reb 5 Ast
Post Season Average: 25 Pts 5 Reb 6 Ast

Hey matt...Atleast you got one-half the equation correct...kobe stunk like poo-poo...and the wrong half of your equation was shaq-diesel gettin shutdown and detroit's defense owning LA for the majority of this game...and after seeing the game Detroit put together tonight, to say that the lakers see game 7 at this point is reaching...15th championship will have to wait till next year at the least.

the lakers will not sleep tonight hahaha
if they are at the bar i am oging to tonight i will tant them and make them never wish they cam to detroit lol

Posted by Hanki on Jun-11-2004 15:07:

Lakers wasn't themeshelves today - Malone's knee injury, Kobe's poor shooting and Shaq's foul trouble, short bench was their biggest trouble. Pistons agressive defense and Hamilton's scoring night let them win easily. I hope to see more interesting game on Sunday, because watching so one side contest isn't the best way to spend whole night...
