Schranz techno is complete shite.

People like dj amok, sven wittekind and robert natus churn out tunes at such a rate, I think they forget to listen to them first. Some of their releases are pitiful.

For decent hard techno try stuff from the anxious, glenn wilson(old stuff) and carl max is quite good also.

Used to spin Schranz a few years ago.. 98-2002 or so..

When CL-R and Clau were new labels and some primate releases still sounded good.

Always preferred the more intelligent german/italian/sweidish sound, but the more straight ahead techno sound of UK labels like template, punish, planet rhythm etc definitely had some good stuff at the time. Glenn Wilson is still good. So is The Anxious. (Tho I prefer his hardtrance sets

As with most genres, when it becomes popular the quality instantly inflates and everyone starts to sound like the high-end of the sales chart.. So i left the genre. At least the bang-churning sounds.

When i see the bigshot bandwagon DJs of today pickup techno/tribal and even schranz I just laugh at them..


The favourites I still pick up records by these days are people like Johannes Heil, Alexander Kowalski, hmm.. The Advent is awesome and so is Marco Carola.

Often hard, but it's all quality and definitely not produced with the sole purpose of making people stomp their asses off.

Occationally my old fav Ben Sims also blows my mind, but for some reason he's not as big in the UK, why is that?

Oh and Surgeon rocks too.


I'm probably outdated on the techno front. 99% of what i buy these days is hardtrance and I'm unable to keep track of what's happening in techno!

This thread could be written in German and it'd make more sense

hmm maybe it is shite.. or maybe it is genius. just cos its hard as hell dosnt mean its not intelligent. schranz basically is techno but with more intense sounds, frantic percs, and distortion. a lot of the schranz ive heard has a japanese vibe to it, only ofcourse its harder...and to be fair, japanese techno is fucking excellent .




and for your information ive heard picotto drop the odd schranz track before

actually, I listen quite a lot to Schranz and yeah, I have to admit that a few tracks by Robert Natus, Sven Wittekind, Frank Kvitta etc. are kinda unoriginal

I personally prefer Marco Remus' style, his new album 'Neubauten' rocks, as he tries to mix harder stuff with hiphop, sounds kinda funny

ever listened to one of his recent sets? I like them, cuz he tries to bring in some variation to the "regular" schranz-sets, like e.g. starting off with some funky (hiphop) tracks and then all of a sudden putting in some hard techno

lol i wasnt implying he makes mistakes.. im a picotto fan too ya know, just wanted to point out that picotto drops [or has been known to drop] the odd schranz track, which [no offence by this] considering hes your fave DJ, youd say he his track selection is great, and initiative of set building is ace... so therefore for him to be dropping the odd schranz track, maybe it isnt as lame and unthoughtful as YOU personally say it is just because you dont like it.

nasenbluten produce [or used to] all theyre tracks in 8bit mono sound, yeah its all hard beats and swearing, and awful sound quality.... diabollically shit to the majority of the population, but nasenbluten is a respected name in its field, as is natus and co to schranz

gayle san plays schranz? oh i never knew... not heard a lot about her for a while actually. i thought she was just a techno jock.. i guess ill have to check her out

This techno sound by Viper XXL, Natus, Sven Wittekind and companions is pretty popular at the moment here in Holland.. Lots of old gabbers and people who have gotten sick of hardstyle are into this sound at the moment..

It's definitely not my cup of tea (not at home, not when partying), but let's face it, it appeals to quite a lot of people.. So it has to have some attractive parts (energy?).

actually, its also quite popular here in Austria, as most dj's try to play more harder than they usually do, like adam beyer or dave clarke when they were here

if I'm correct schranz means "noisy" in German, so technically the name wasnt made up out of the blue :-)

I'm not sure what Schranz means in German, but Liebing described Schranz as a direction of techno with variations of dark noises and sounds...so it could be correct.

Adam Beyer and Dave Clarke don't play Schranz. Yes Beyer plays some harder tunes...but I think that he and the rest of the Swedish producers don't consider Schranz to be music...and Clarke doesn;t play Schranz either...for example Andreas Kauffelt - Noischamber, that he has played isn't Schranz...

I know, I was just generally saying that they play some harder stuff especially here in Austria, not that they usually spin harder stuff

i was into schranz ~a year ago but now i can listen to that only @ parties.

actually you're talking about ghetto-tech. it's much better than hip-hop. tunes like Marco Remus - Booty Bitch are ghetto-tech.

clarke has played some really dirty tunes also.

I thought Natus, Remus... was just hard techno.
Anyways I prefer straight techno all the way.
