I'm confuzzled

i dont know, thats confusing. maybe since he wont go on until after midnight they are considering it the 23rd...possibly

Posted by UWM on Jun-24-2004 01:08:

If this is on Thursday instead it's going to really suck because I planned on making a weekend of it with the Holden / Mazi / Tripwire show the following night.

Now I might have to ditch on PvD and just go to Holden. I'm not missing that show and I can't pull off a 3 day weekend.

I saw PVD in Central PArk and I thought his performace was so-so. He did do some funny stuff on stage what I thought was cool , like the time he passed out napkins to the crowd as the rain was pouring. I thought his opening track with the thunder was so perfect. Just as the bass kicked in it started to rain heavily. I do think that the heavy rain that plagued the event did change his programing alot. there seemed to be alot of the "raver types" who were going nuts in the rain. Given the rain the feild was packed with alot of younger fans (i.e. 15-18). I guess PVD thought he should play more hard banging stuff for them. He did a good job of satisfying the crowd but imo I really wasnt diggint those hard beats.I enjoy more of his melody and vocals trakcs he plays. He did play Thats Life which I love!( did not know he sings the vocals for the tracks) I was hoping to hear a more uplifing beautiful trance set from the king but given the rain and the crowd it was kinda expected. I just hope in chicago PVD plays Thats Life, Time of Our Lives, Connected,Nothing But You, and Time of Our lives. I just love his music he makes and the stuff off his record label ( Vandit). Im going to bring my record sleves and show it in front of him to make sure he plays these tracks. I strongly beleive that this man is a true class act. Unlike Tiesto, he really loves his fans, takes time to sign auotgraphs, doesnt screw around when mixing a set like talking to club hoes etc.. I love his music, I love his personality, and an example of what an artist/Dj should be. Let hope the energy and music from his sets in Ibiza a few days before his Chicago show will be prsent!!!

Be Cool!

After seeing him in March, the only thing I fear is I might expect him to somehow top himself. Soundbar seems scary based on reading other posts, but it's still bound to be a great time. I got a flier the other day that mentioned there was a store on the 2600 block of Clark that sells tickets in addition to Wantickets' website. Do they take cash there? In any case I will not forget to buy a ticket again and stand drunk outside a sold out show, yelling at the bouncers that I will stand there all night until they take pity on me at 3 am.

soundbar isnt a scary place. its pretty clean there but it could cost you tons of $$$ if you plan on getting drunk there.

i think the tickets are at grammaphone(sp?). i dont see why they wouldnt take cash.

Be Cool!

Cool, thanks Jonze. Expensive drinks, eh? Sounds like it will be a good night to pregame. See y'all for PvD.

Posted by MrSquirrel on Jun-29-2004 11:03:

If Gramaphone has tickets they will be CASH ONLY. It is how they do their ticket sales, I think it is totally separate from their usual business.

I just hope PVD doesnt play hard beaty stuff. I am getting real tired of this trend which I saw PVD do at central park and tiesto do here while in chicago. I honestly think their just scared to drop some "euro" stuff on the midwest crowd

Bring back the melodies PVD!!!!

Posted by Dave Piazza on Jul-06-2004 04:22:

Just trying to figure out the crowd that is hoping to see PVD in chicago.......if you could just choose one would you want to hear a) alot of PVD songs b) vocal /melody tracks choosen by PVD c) hard banging PVD stuff d) ab e) ac

Sorry Dave, but I'll take the set pvd dropped at vision (live at least) any day of the week over some of the other nights I saw him. I didn't stop moving all night long...

I say this as I listen to 01_paul_van_dyk-live_at_sensation_white_(amsterdam_arena)-cable-07-03-2004-twclive
which includes PVD - nothing but you. And I like the set.

but given my options, I'll take what I saw @ vision in april any day of the week.
hands down.

(besides, I do want to sleep on the plane )

yup. musically, his april vision set owns. the only reason i really had fun at summerstage was because of the downpour and atmosphere. musically, the set wasn't all that. if you want more of his melodic/vocal stuff, grab any of his 2003 sets; tracklists are pretty similar. I'm liking the harder stuff he's been pumping out lately. and yes, that sensation set is pretty sick too

dont think I'm gonna make it to this one afterall.

Its either PvD or Holden, Tripwire, and Mazi the next night.
The latter sounds better to me now, unless Paul is gonna spin 3+ hours. Then I might be convinced
