-- Mastering, do you do it?
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
In the studio i work in we have the waves plug-ins for mastering and they are wonderful to work with especially in pro tools. I'm sure your probably getting sticker shock when you see how much just these plug-ins are, but trust me there are some other spatial plug-ins that cost way way way more used to make the sound seem like its in a different type of room. When your talking pro audio as i'm sure your well aware nothing is cheap and you pay an arm and a leg for the best but the best is worth it in most cases.

I can generally do most mastering using a limiter, eq, and that is usually about it. I generally also use some noise reduction plugins to remove clicks and pops and other record noise. |

Soundforge has a pretty good set of plugins that you can use. Try using the wavehammer, and the eqs. The best thing you can do is experiment and learn how to use these plugins. 13 |
since it seems you've lost your waves CD..
another option for you is to fire up kazaa and type in waves plugins
i can't believe you people use limiters on your mix, that's just silly. If you new what a limiter like wave hammer/ultrimaximiser, etc is, how it works and what it does to a signal, then you wouldn't be using these plugins. The songs have already been mastered for you. All you are doing is reducing the dynamics in the tracks and making them sound dull and flat. If you want it louder, normalise using a normalise plugin (this simply rises the amplitude), and turn up the volume on the amp at playback.
