Thumbs up My review

Basically, Viva never disappoints. Great party, I'd say 8/10. Except tonight, it did disappoint in one category. It was probably the smallest crowd I've seen at Viva in my few trips there since last August, maybe beating out the Chinese New Year's Party by a few dozen heads. But it was alright though - the bouncers were very friendly, and they surely tried to keep the place smoke-free, up until 4 am, and after that things got out of hand a bit (I saw people smoking weed, and bouncers saw it, yet decided not to do anything about that after that time). Overall, I'd say the place had 45-50% less cigarette moke in the air than usual, a great improvement! Finally, I was able to breath! Sorry to all you smokers.

Walter had another great opening set, especially I liked the last hour, it was fantastic. Mixing was superb as usual, Lots of hard trance/techno melodies, and some uplifting/trance tracks at the end! I heard some TAs say, "Whoa, that's a big improvement he had since last time I heard him". Well, what was the last time you guys heard him? Last September? I've seen him spin at Viva few times since then, and he's had great sets since, in fact I think his previous mix in January at Viva was better . But he was great tonight!

Cor, the highlight of the night, had some great tunes out, and the last hour he had was very impressive. Almost as awesome as the set of his at Trance Energy. Swamper posted that set up, I think, yet he decided not to show up for the party! (?)

Mark Oliver - I didn't really catch on his performance, lots of uplifting, melodic trance ... bla bla ... I was too tired by then anyhow.

As for the track played that night, as some of you might know, I don;t have any tracks from this year, so all the ones I recall now are like from 2003 and older ...

Filo & Peri - I95
G&M Project - Sunday Afternoon (M.O.R.P.H. Remix)
Basic Dawn - Pure Thrust (Nu NRG Remix)
DJ Tiesto - Theme from Clockwork Orange
William Orbit (I think) - Adagio For Strings
Cor Fijneman - Venus (DJ Tiesto Remix)
Benny Benassi - Love Is Gonna Save Us
New Order - Strange Love Triangle (??? VERSION?)
Benny B. - Satisfaction (??? mix/version)

Sending out thanks to :

Smuncky, for giving me proper direction and instructions to the party, otherwise I was not gonna come.
Matt, for keeping me company throughout the night ... too bad we got separate rides to Country Style.
Nat, for checking up on me, when I hid in a corner in VIP lounge for almost an hour ... you are awesome.
Rabbit Joker, for saving us some money and giving a speedy, sporty (whoa), generous ride to the Finch Station. Nice car!
Also, nice to see/meet all regular TAs, nice chatting and partying with emono, Tordan (you're cool, dude), as well as Kevin and his GF (oh boy, she really didn't have much fun, but at least she tried! - plus they were munching each other all the time ). Didn't get to see Swamper (cause he didnt come!) ... Plus, I dont think I met starsearcher, nor did I see Ari .... Shout outs to all other cool people I've met at the meet-up, at the party - sorry, I am terrible with names, I get to meet a lot of people all the time, so please pardon me if I didnt mention you ...

One more thing. Every time I go to TO by public transportation, I get bugged by so many homeless people trying to scam you for money, like telling you they have this and that, and they just need a quarter, or whatever ... I HATE THAT!!!! THEY SHOULD GET A JOB!!! LAZY BUMS ... I got like a minimum wage part-time job, and I can still pay my rent and have enough for parties.

Overall, the whole event cost me just about 75 bucks, the most expensive party for me yet. But it was worth it. I got to ride subway for the first time in 8 long years, and first time since coming to Canada.

Now, back to my everyday crap .... ugh, thanks for giving me one happy night out of the past 100 or so tireless worked-out days ... first party in a while for me, hopefully not the last. Thanks, TAs!

First time at Viva. Layout, sound, lasers, and decor were awesome. Packed house for Dumonde musta been amazing. Club was empty when we got there, which really worried us.

Mark Oliver was playing some solid tracks before Cor. Can anyone ID that one hardstyle track right b4 Cor came on?

Cor is the fucking master. 3 hrs of bangers. Recognized almost all of first 2 hours and last half hour. Sitting down now to ID. I think he opened with Dream Machine. To add to wat others already said he played Naranja, Loops and Things, Age of Love, Love Comes Again (Mark Norman mix??), and Venus. Can't think of others at the moment....

Can someone please ID that track right after Naranja??....fuckin banging hard track

That night was 10 times better than Tiesto. That chubby bastard laid it down forreal. Only bad thing was the crowd, attendance was way too low. IT was cool with TAs and other ppl into the music at the front. But whats with the 40 year old asian coke heads?

Only slept 45 minutes. Im out.

Cor is a BOD MON forreal.

Walter Rosati opened, not Mark Oliver

Great party

Man I had a great time ...Lots of TAs and tons of room to dance & move around...It was great to see Nat & Graham again and my friends John & Ashley ...I even had a change to chat with Cor F. and he's a very kewl guy...It was also my first time at a club with the non smoking by-law in effect...I even saw security take a cigarette from someone on the dancefloor and put it out (weird seein that)...I also got to hear how Tiesto @ the Guv was and I was glad I didn't go and instead went to this event...very wise choice ...Now i'm looking forward to Johan Gielen @ the Docks...Its gonna be a VERY busy summer.

Outstanding job by Cor. He really does have amazing set programming abilities. Really played to the crowd (as lame as most of it was) so I was glad to see fellow TA's make it out to represent. Aside from the rest of the crowd we had a great time. Fantastic music - it was the only way to follow up Thursday night! Lasers / lighting were great as usual and sound was pretty good. I'm definitely in agreeance with others here that the crowd sucked and if not for Cor playing, we never would have made the trek out there. I really do like the club but I suppose its just location - that place would be great downtown as an alternative to Guv. I really don't think the no-smoking law is the reason for the lack of crowd since other events these past couple of weeks have been busy. The smoking area outside was hardly ever busy anyway. At any rate it was a good night thanks to Cor throwing down an energetic and uplifting set. I really started liking his stuff after WEMF last year and he definitely didn't disasppoint this time round. Thanks to TR for bringing him back - look forward to the next time he comes back. Shouts to nat, rj, graham, jenna rae and all the other ta's I met - good times guys!

Finally back from my cottage, so I'll post my comments.

First of all, WOW! What a great first experience. Had a ton of fun, and Cor's set was unbelievable. Great track selection.

To all the TA's that met at Country Style: Thanks, I would have been lost without you guys.

To all the other TA's I met during the night, you were a great crowd that I'm now glad to be a part of.

Too bad I had to leave early though, it was shaping up to be a great party.

Now that you mentioned this track, I also remember him dropping

Scott Bond - Naked Angel,

cause I was listening to one of my MP3 CDs, and this track was on it, and yeah, I realised I heard it that night Too bad it's such a crappy track (please no posts with regards to this comment, its purely my opinion, and may not reflect the views of TA or its members ).

Dudeman...

Cor played a much more melodic trance set compared to Tiesto's driving style.

If you're into the melodic more traditional trance sound - than Cor was a better night for music.

I fall into this group. Cor was better (for me) than Tiesto.

Yes, i meant the overall experience. I'm sorry but partying with a bunch of 50 year old high asians isn't exactly worth my time. Not even the music can make it any better. I went to VIVA that night and left after 20 minutes.

quite a good night, but i just can't handle trance like i could a year ago. by 3am i was completely out of it and the beat had turned my brain to mush, so i apologise to anyone who might have seen me after that time or tried to communicate and found me to be unreponsive or even somewhat sketchy
i had also just flown in and was exhausted and hungry, and the last party i attended was Dumonde back in September. all factors trying to take away from a good night but not successfully enough. i still say it was a good night.
i'm Serg, by the way. formerly 'emono'.
