i like the look of the 6-series, its sleek and stylish. the rear of it is very porsche carrera ish, its definately close to the new shape mercedes clk.

of course the RUF's would destroy porsche's on the road, they are tuned porsches and i dont think they shouln't be classed as stock cars, as the base model is the stock version, and RUF is not an in-house tuner, but one with very close links to porsche, it is not in the same category as AMG or the M Division.

The Z8 is ok, but it has been slated by a lot of people. the only good thing is the looks. the chassis is poor and the engine is straight out of the last generation M5. its more of a posers car, and it costs far too much for what it is.

Slyee, the maserati quattroporte is very very nice, its got such a presence on the road

yea thats the one very sleek and different. my friend is getting ready to get a new ride and he is considering that. its in the same class as maybe the new audi a8 or 745li, only a little better. i'm not a big maserati fan, but that is nice!

all u porsche lovers.... GT> GT3RS> GT3> GT2> 911 turbo> Carrera 4s> Carrera 2 ..... if u dont go by that order, u dont know ur cars!

Fuck the CL-55 and its heavy ass automatic gearbox. THe Porsche GT2 however is my favorite since its a no holds barred RWD monster. HOwever, one of the most badass sportscars has to be the Pagani Zonda C12 S. The exhaust note on that thing is jawdropping

I would argue that a GT1 is greater than the GT and I would argue that the GT2 is greater than the GT3... and so would about 5 million people.

gt1 is not a production car anymore....
GT2 is faster than then gt3 on a traight line but noone cares about straight line performance anymore.. what matters is how fast u go around a track... and the GT3 destroyes the GT2

I think the 6 Series is great looking and has good specs to match. I think the front reminds me of a shark, not sure if thats good or bad. I think think the current M3 is their best car though.

Call me crazy but I hate porsches. I think they are funny looking and outdated like the Acura NSX. Their styling never changes at all. Sure they are fast but for that price range I'd probably get something like a Modena, S7 or SL65 etc.

ahhh there she is. i'm liking those rims a lot too...they're nice for being stock.

and btw, i did post links to pictures...i don't have webspace to host pics so i had to just link

I like the wheels in the first pic more than the others. The others have too much wheel and look a bit too chunky. But for 70K+ I think every car should have nice wheels.

That is too general a statement, and i don't like it

Remember that every single porsche up to the Carrera 4S is about 30,000 cheaper than the Modena, and even more compared to the Saleen S7 or SL65. The turbo and GT series solidly outperform the Modena, and the Stradale and Challenge series are good competirtors for it, but even so, cost more than the Porsche competitors (GT2 costs 115,000 pounds, Stradale, is 110,000, and Challenge is 115,000 (i think))

The high performance porsches all have a fully manual option, not a paddle shift or auto, such as the Merc AMG series cars. Although the cars are similar of similar specs, the porsches' represent the best all round choice due to their price And isnt the S7 super expensive, and in a different weight and power class to the porsche's? Isn't it more comparable to like the Zonda and Konigsegg?

Hah, ok I'll visually make my point about them all looking the same. Here is a chart I just made that shows every year porsche from the 60's to today and they all have the exact same shape. No doubt they have gotten much more powerful from the 60's sluggish models.

I wasn't using directly comparison to the Modena or S7 in terms of price to performance. I was merely saying that if I had $100,000 to spend on a car, I'd most likely be loaded and have like 10 cars anyways so spending an extra $30,000 for a Modena isn't unreasonable. It's not like now where I have a $13,000 car now and going to a $30,000 is a huge step. Yes the S7 I'd say is in a different league, its more of a supercar like the Enzo, Ford GT, Mclaren, etc but priced way less. I'm not sure what the Zonda is though.

I can't say that porsche is best all around because the looks department is stale to me, I wouldn't be happy driving one honestly. I'd rather have an M3, unless I was on the prowl with the mere purpose of picking up chicas

We've got a new 2006 E90 (3 series) over in our lot where I work. It's heavily camoed but looks like it's taking a lot of design cues form it's older upper market siblings. Don't know if that's a good thing... The BMW styling is pretty.. interesting..

I don't know why people are calling BMW's overrated. I really see no reason. They have about as many reliability issues as any other german car manufacturer. Plus you can get any BMW with a manual transmission...

And the design of the porsche kind of limits what shape the body can take. The whole rear engine rear wheel drive has really been the deciding factor in the shape of the 911. Look what happens when they don't do it... they get weird stuff like the 944...

Posted by gabor3000gt on Jun-18-2004 06:16:

Yeah, interesting... I think I would stick to the 5 series as of right now, I might change my mind in a near, but until then...
