How the fuck do you score with a backwards heelkick while in the air?!?!?!!?!?

Nevertheless, Italy ruled for most of the game, defense was tight as hell and stopped nearly everything the swedes tried, while Zambrotta and Cassano exploited Sweden's weak flanks and got paid for it. Sadly, they fell too far back later on. The swedes charged with all they had, and in the end it paid off. Looks like another group is up for a thriller of an ending.

lets hope denmark and sweden draw the last match.

and that italy dosent score to many goals against bulgaria.

laurent robert did it for newcastle this season, quite a goal too...

fantastic goal

didn't see almost the entire second half, but it seemed like one hell of a match

i want to see italy, sweden and denmark on the quarter finals can't we just drop greece from group A and let portugal be the only team from that group to pass?

Posted by chesco on Jun-18-2004 21:48:

imo group C has been by far the most entertaining of the tournament. Italy were unlucky tonight, but q-dos to sweden they have been great thoughout the last two games.

Posted by Blik on Jun-18-2004 21:56:

beautiful goal from Zlatan, but Sweden didn't deserve to win. Italy had them in their pocket.

but it is good for the contest I play in

And Trapattoni is a dickhead, he changed his 2 best players (Del Piero and Cassano) for two midfielders... What a tosser

Excellent game, Italy played some brilliant football in the first half and should have scored more than the single goal. Was good to see sweden make som attacking substitutions and bringing on Kallstrom changed the game imo, and were rewarded with Ibrahimovic's stunning goal.

It will take something special to beat that as goal of the tournament

... assuming that Portugal finishes second...

About the game: saw the first half, and Italy were pummeling thw Swedes. The second half I missed alot (including Zlatan's goal ).

Posted by Madjer on Jun-19-2004 00:09:

I missed most of the match (which was good as I was for Sweden )

and then O M G

that in-the-air-back2goal-lifted-heelkick

Madjer's (though mega important) heelkick soon 20 years ago with FC Porto in the CL Final ag. Bayern...was nothing against it

-> Ibrahimovic = genius

Italy were playing incredible in the first half, but then they started playing their trademark all out defensive style in the second half and they payed for it.
Im worried about our right back Mikael Nilsson. He's a midfielder and hasn't got what it takes to play in defence. Most of their attacks came through their left side mostly from the amazing Zambrotta and Nilsson didn't cope. Panucci, Cassano and Del Piero played really good too, while Vieri was a joke. Italy looked alot better with Gattuso and Pirlo in midfield than before.
For us Linderoth did an amazing job in midfield. Svensson didn't do much and when Kllstrm replaced him the game changed. Ljungberg was always a threat and Zlatan amazing. That goal, what can you say. Too even try something like that is crazy and he pulled it off.

I'm happy with the result. Now we only need a draw against Denmark to advance.

Zlatan rules What a beautiful goal by him

Posted by Nando25 on Jun-19-2004 01:10:

italy wanted to play with 3 goalkeepers and in the end they didn't win

haha bad luck for them

lets go Sweden

Posted by Virus on Jun-19-2004 01:13:

Forgot to mention Andreas Isaksson, our goalie, who kept us in the game. He made some great saves especially when Del Piero shot from outside of the box.

The best game so far! What a play from both sides! I was watching and I couldnt believe what I see: great team work by Italy, nice trocks from Del Piero, great ball playin', fantastic play organisation by Italy and of course amazing goal by Ibrahimovic! How has he done it!?!?!? I can't believe it! I hope to see games like that today!

A really enjoyable match, I've slagged the Italians for their style of play on many occasions but they played good positive football last night and for the first half played the best football of the tournament so far. But Sweden held in there and now the group is set-up for a very interesting finish!

Posted by chesco on Jun-19-2004 15:56:

I really am unsure about trappatoni. The subs he made were all wrong.

Italy need to send out a message by hammering the bulgarians like sweden did and also hope one of the teams wins in the other game, hopefully sweden.

ZLATAN What a goal!!!
I don't think he will play next season for Ajax anymore

Posted by SilverX on Jun-20-2004 07:34:

I've heard that Zlatan already has signed with Juventus FC

i really hope so because trezeguet is the most over rated forward in the game. Zlatan is a fantastic player, definately player of the tournament so far.

Zlatan to Juve!!
Zlatan to Juve!!!
I would love to go to stadio delle alpi watching Zlatan next season!
But Trezeguet will stay after all it seams? I'm loosing control of who is going were, they are changing their minds too often...

Trap says he made the substitutes because the players were tired. True or not? Can understand it though, they WERE running circles around the swedish defence in the first half.

good game though! Can't really decide if Sweden really is good at getting a high percentage of the conclusions IN goal or if they just have been a bit lucky in these two games. We'll see in the third round.

So it took me two days to download this game over BitTorrent, but well worth it. I didn't know the exact score before watching the game- but the goal at minute 85 was amazing. BTW, was that hot chick sitting next to Totti his wife?

good job, Swedes
