I wonder how many people are pissed off now, that's all I can think of for now.

LoL, I bet people are thinking FFS, who does he like, Christopher Lawrence, JooF, Regis, Elite Force, Plump DJ's, Hybrid, Sander Kleinenberg, John Digweed.

I think you are a little bit bored with the dance scene

It definitely sounds like you've developed very specific tastes in electronic music, torontotrance, but i think that's only natural after listening to the music for so long.

I think it is analogous (did i just say that?) to the mass of reality television being released at the moment. If we continue to be bombarded with show after show of reality TV, much of it the same, it can be great at first, but it begins to become boring after a while and you get sick of it. People look for something more, something that is lasting and meaningful. That's when you start watching the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, the History Channel etc

Maybe i am just talking crap, but its about 3AM and i'm staying up to watch the Italy game which starts at about 4:40AM, Sydney time.
Too much coffee?

I LOVE THIS THREAD !

TorontoTrance is to funny, just going off.

I can't stand Paul Okenfold, he is nothing more than a damn good salesman, not to mention he's short

I think that most of the top Djs that I've loved at one point or another have fell off a bit. Guess its hard to stay at the top of your game for a long while.
One person who I think is getting better and better at Djing is Armin Van Buuren. I agree that ASOT is a bit of a Sleeper at times, which I dont like. But listening to Armins live sets for the last few years he has progressed so much and just gotten better and bettter. Every time I've seen Armin play he bloes my mind more. Which is awsome and I love it.

Actually those names are real held opinions, no joke about it. People just think I'm ranting for the sake of it. I listed the deejays I disliked, you have to remember, when I got into trance, I was into PvD, Tiesto and Armin but they have lost the plot.

Posted by Tranceguy1 on Jun-18-2004 18:41:

I can't name one good canadien dj by the way....

Posted by torontotrance on Jun-18-2004 19:58:

Luke Fair
Misstress Barbara
Preach
Greg Benz
Max Graham

that's all I can name

proof?

just because YOU don't "feel" their tracks anymore doesn't mean they don't put their heart and soul in their productions anymore...

there's always a story behind their tracks....

on topic: the track is what matters, not who made it. so there aren't really any producers i dislike.. well, maybe Mike Shiver

Posted by idoru on Jun-18-2004 20:27:

I don't really have any DJs that I hate. There are some I'm not fans of, simply because they're just not my style.

As for Torontotrance's list, damn, what a long list! Can't say that I agree with a couple of your choices/reasons, but then again, that's personal taste. We feel different things in different songs, so I can't really say that you're dumb or anything.

wow, thats a really bad attitude towards people that are really doing their best to make people happy!

It's his personal opinion... evidently those producers may make other people happy, but not him

Mine would be Markus Schulz by a country mile... never heard anything outstanding from him at all... all completely bland to me.

PvD (as a producer) also stands out... his DJing isn't anything special but I like some of the stuff he plays, bar his own tunes. MIKE as a producer (everything since Legacy). Above & Beyond too, although they're pretty good DJs.

Maybe he would be good enuff to send me a cd of a good mix so
I can change my mind...

Gabriel & Dresden - too much hype during the ATRC phase

Posted by Absolut_Vodka on Jun-19-2004 04:55:

Alice fucking deejay

Posted by beats and beeps on Jun-19-2004 05:07:

its hard to hate a dj/producer...besides those ones that are way too horrible to mention... i mean id say tiesto, or maybe oakenfold, because alot of thier stuff is way over hyped...but a fair amount of it is really great to! I guess i dont really like one hit wonders, because its like...you had a great chance you were on the platform...what the hell did you do with it??

how do you feel about it? I mean do you feel disappointed, because at one point you loved them but doesn't upset you when you find out that it's not what you thought it was and they changed , I agree with a lot of things on your list but I don't know, I just try to hold on to it like a rare commodity

Yeah that was a weak stunt. Bell eventually got some compensation though... as far as I heard.

Posted by trak_one on Jun-19-2004 15:07:

Most of the progressive trance dj's (Tiesto, PvD, Paul Oakenfold, etc...) just because they're music is so damn boring.

Posted by noikeee on Jun-19-2004 15:37:

above & beyond (in productions, they eventually pick a couple good tracks when dj'ing) - too 'poppy'

gabriel & dresden - too 'poppy'

anything with vocals from justine suissa. just.... argh

the dozens of producers that follow the uplifting trance formula religiously

but all producers put a lot of work into their tracks, and i respect that

really?

I should ask bell myself if he got compensation, he is arrogant as well as Wink. As far as I know, he did not get compensation but I'll check.

I just think tastes evolve like deejays, I mean I loved James Lavelle's work for years but he has recently gone sour in my book, I mean he made the brilliant UNKLE album and then the brilliant GU023 (not in that order ) but GU026 was what I call the Look At Me UNKLE + Meat Katie album (I bought it for cheap yesterday) and I'm disappointed with it. The way I look at it, there are 100's of DJs and 100's of producers, brilliant at times, poor at times, that's music, you like some, you hate some. Just my dislike list seems to all the deejays that people love. Paul Oakenfold is not doing much now but no matter what he does, he still will be a legend in my book for 1997-2000. Same with PvD and Tiesto, who were responsible for getting me into trance music, even tho I cannot stand their style now, they did give me some great times, when I went to see them.

Well, I'm not 100% sure. It was quite some time ago I read about it in some article from a music mag I can't even remember. If you have the possibility to ask him then go ahead. Would be most interesting to know for a fact what happened with that dispute.

Oh, and tell him we all loved "Loosing Control" when it came out
