About junior year of HS... so that makes it around 2000 (now a junior in college).

dance music wise since the very early 90s and euro stuff for a start, capella, prodigy's old works, JX etc, the hardcore/old skool phase like zero b - lock up, acen - trip 2 the moon & 808 State/Altern8 stuff, and then onto trancecore in about 1996/7 where still hearing like agnelli & nelson, cafe del mar, storm-storm, tilt & the first rls of grace - not over yet, olive - you're not alone, and then more into the dutch/german sounds from 97-present finding ppl like ferry, tiesto (when he could produce) Armin (likewise) rank 1, early pulsedriver stuff, green court, nostrum etc

TA joined in 2001 tho

December 1999. No vinyl to speak of.

Late 1995/early 1996... Robert Miles - Children was the track that changed it all for me but I can't stand it now

Didn't know it was called 'trance' though until about 1998 when I first heard Binary Finary, Cafe del Mar, El Nino, Ayla, etc. First vinyls were York - The Awakening, Taste Xperience - Summersault & Space Brothers - Heaven Will Come, in 1999

Ahhh AYLA, DJ Tandu is a king!

Velvet was an amazing track.

Posted by isoterra on Jun-19-2004 18:54:

Can't say I remember that one... only heard the one track ('Ayla'), and it was the 'Sasha vs Space Brothers collision remix' (although I think it must be a different Sasha cause it's nothing like what he'd have done) which did it for me, was one of my favourite all time tunes at the time I heard it

I would reccomend trying to find Velvet so you can listen to it...its about a 9 minutes song with an incredible firstg 6 minutes...one of the best songs I've ever heard to open up a melodic trance set with.

but i dunno, i always liked dance music, i mean i loved eurodance and back then when i was younger and you didn't know what was what and i heard some of the stuff that i would listen to later. but i seriously started to listen to trance in 1996/97 with the 2nd euro-wave and then i left trance in favour of hiphop in 1999/2000 and then i returned back in 2001/2002.
my first bought trance cd-single was antiloop - purpose in life ep (but i have lost it somewhere )
first bought cd: nordic rave 1 (same thing, i have lost this one, and this one is a classic, sorta)
1st bought vinyl came after i started to listen to trance again in 2001/2002 and that one is
iio - rapture (riva/creamer & k remixes)

Cool, I'll give it a search

Just remembered, there was another Ayla tune I liked called 'Into the Light'.. holds alot of memories for me

I have been listening to trance since about 1994 after my friend gave me "Paul Van Dyk - 45 Rpm". The first cd I ever actually bought was about 3 weeks later "The MFS Trip"

Tranceaddict since: 94/95. I discovered Orbital with Halcyon, stuck with Orbital and Underworld and later moved onto PVD/Oaken/Tiesto. During that time I also found Prodigy back around the mid 90s.

First vinyl: Yahel - Voyage

Started back in 93 when I bought 'Rave til Dawn'

Some mint tracks on there to this day.

Yep, isn't THE Sasha but Sacha Collisson who's behind Aurora (of Ordinary World, Hear You Calling,..) together with Simon Greenaway.

The actual mix title is: "Space Brothers Meet Sacha Collisson Remix"

After or before they banned me?

Ahh I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I guess can only blame it on... *ahem*, mislabels

Indeed. The world of mislabeled mp3s is always oh so wondeful, isn't it?

Been a TA'er since October... that's it. Still green.

And whats a vinyl? Heck...it's hard enough trying to find trance of ANY medium around these parts.

Hehehe.. you sure you don't know what a vinyl is? They are the records/discs usually in diameter of 7, 10 or 12 inch (mostly black, sometimes coloured). CDs are plastic too (d'oh!) but either 3 (mini-CD) or 5 inch in diameter.

Got it? I surely believe you were only sarcastic tho.

Been listening to trance casually for about five years now, but actually switched to it one or two years ago from "real" techno ;-)

Remember "We are alive" from PvD as one of my first favorites ...
