I just heard this today. Good remix, nothing spectacular, but good nonetheless.

HAHAH funny reading the comments regarding rollo
IMO his in his element atm, having completed the faithless album no roots, produced both of dido's albums and been working on his side project dusted.

To say dido is better than him is quite humerous, considering she is a vocalist and he is a producer, you really cant compare the two

Hmm i like the original track more then this, very bad remix. Hope we get some more G&D tunes soon, only thing i like so far this year is their remix of no one on earth.

Posted by speedracer_mec on Jul-13-2004 23:12:

Nice track

i thought of it as a nice solid tune

G&D can do better though.

Id be jamming to this tune out in the summer sun as i cruise the beach

8/10

Cookie-cutter remix of a pop song how original.

Oh crap, I forgot that this is a flame forum. Why was I so stupid as to voice my own opinion. But then I noticed you're from Washington State a place where your opinions can get you killed.

Your flame was so convincing that now I think G&D should remix more pop songs, doesn't Britney have a new one out.

Posted by Romain on Jul-15-2004 15:42:

i like the remix, but it probably doesn't do justice to the (great) vocals... mainly due to that lead sound that doesn't fit very well...

Posted by DeleriuM2K on Jul-16-2004 01:31:

I like it a lot, I'de change a few things but all in all good remix

Posted by Muhcow on Jul-16-2004 12:45:

What is it that makes this song so weird?
A totally untypical Gabriel & Dresden "style".

Everyone listening to this song will not really "hear" its Gabriel & Dresden who remixed this track. They used kinf of totally different synthesizer sounds and other sound generally, so why bothering its bad? The best Artist is the one who masters enough styles.

I dont think this sounds like an 80's track, definitely not. Sometimes a track which is depressive needs a happy meaning, well done!

Its the simple thing that can be most impressive

Remix is totally okay, another interpretation of this sad song. Vocals kept very well, no real bad thing done.

Its not sounding like "happy happy joy joy" really not.. its a rhythm and rhyme! I like this track

8.7/10 (mindcircus remix has 10/10)

4/10 here. I absolutely hate this remix. It sounds totally amateur as if farted out of a 386 while on the pot. And what is worse for me personally, the lyrics only add to the horribleness that is this mix. Corny and cheesey gay lyrics that made me feel ill. Immediately Shift+Del

Posted by davedresden on Jul-17-2004 22:46:

hey, we're all entitled to our own opinions, and remixing dido is one of those things that will probably get you "flamed" by people on this board without them even hearing it.

this track was actually very hard to remix. the original tune clocks in 172 bpm and he had to time-stretch the vocals down to 140 bpm. we tried 135 but the vocals sounded like shit. so we had to go with the 140 bpm, which is the only thing in hindsight i wish i coulde change about this track is the tempo.

as for the "happy happy joy joy" that's just the song and the chords surrounding the chorus...any song that sings "and i will beeee your safety...ooh oh oh doon't leave home." with major chords around it is going to sound happy happy joy joy abba/erasure jumping bean music.

is it our best work? no. but am i still happy with the outcome? fuck yeah!

- dave

I thought that really uplifting buildup was the best part of the track, its nice to hear something really uplifting and 'happy happy joy joy' as dave puts it in a G&D production

dont listen to the elitists on this board

Not bad after listening to it for the first time. Very retro-disco sounding imo.

I dunno what you people are smoking but I love this track

I have weird taste sometimes though but I heard a vinyl rip yesterday and thought it kicked ass.

Smile Tongue

I think people just want G&D to top some of their best stuff, and why not.

Posted by websley on Jul-19-2004 12:15:

I don't like this remix. Jurgen Vries has done better on his remake of: "Take my hand", which appeared on her first album as a bonus track.

Did you get to meet Dido? If you do, shag her....she's stupidly hot!

Posted by Ricksta on Jul-19-2004 21:37:

This remix is absolutely GASH!

Ive VERY rarely deleted mp3's due to the poorness of them but this was one!

I usually quite like g&d but this can just forget it.

I can say no more.

Posted by umes23 on Jul-21-2004 05:45:

after reading a good bit of negative comments, it took me a while to bother checking this out. to my pleasant surprise, i liked what i heard. i guess this is the opposite of overhyping that has taken place.... too much trash-talk against a decent remixing job. i think the overall sound is interesting and catchy and makes for a good tune. i agree stoned was better, but that wasn't g&d so who cares?

Posted by Protege on Jul-21-2004 06:12:

I absolutely love this tune. Not the typical G&D style but still very good.
8.5/10

What a damn shame, you don't delete mp3's, ever considered buying CDs or records or seeing deejays live?

This is the gayest song I ever heard. It sounds like some childish mickey mouse song.
