Oh boy, I can't even spell it. I just go by "Torley Wong" for all intents and purposes, but part of the whole shebang is Thorranittchongsiriwatanaarcus . . . yadda yadda yadda 
Thai names are really long for a number of reasons. One of them is the influence of East Indian and other related ancient cultures, so yes, Apu's name on "The Simpsons" isn't necessarily an exaggeration. Names often carry ancestral information and "predicted" personality traits, as well as other descriptors (if you were born in a field of lillies, that might qualify)... and soforth and soforth. An extended description, if you will. So it's similar to this Welsh name in that regard -- people all over the world!
