omg, of course, 'Filler! CJ Bolland - The Prophet is just amazing. You can't do anything to make it better. It's quite a few years old though, but I still love it.

It was a completely different track though. Same chord progression & that's about it. Rank 1 could've released it as their own tune easy as.

I thought the original was utter balls imho & Rank 1's take kicked seven shades of shit out of it but opinions, schmopinions.

In answer to the thread... nothing, in the EDM genre. I don't believe whatsoever that any tune shouldn't be touched, providing it's done well. Kinda get annoyed when people say otherwise too but again, prolly just me. Although obviously if they're done badly then it's easy to say they should never have touched it (case in point: A&B's mix of Delerium - Silence, which almost had me in a rash i hated it so much)

Silverbath especially I'd love a proper remix of since the original sounded like a messaround which took about an hour to produce... haha, damn I'm feeling harsh tonight, sorry if i've offended any mike fans

don't mess with the original!!! you cannot make it more perfect than it already is

Yeah, yeah. The original is a very simplistic and dull track to be completely honest.

Check out the Farmatronic Genetic Mix and Moonwatchers Remix. They bring the track to a whole another level.

BT - Dreaming (Lucid Mix)

BT uses so many layers it becomes hard to come up with something better, he uses up almost all the frequency bands (All Channels) and layers them up to perfection.

Me Out.

Solar Stone - Solarcoaster

allmost all remixes has been mieh, especially the steve murano remix, (i still can't believe that lost language didn't reject that remix), the midway remix & that breaks remix are the only versions that has been ok

Three Drives - Air Traffic
original is very unique and all the remixes that i've heard is just mieh or cheesy

uh.. i did a little bit of a mix of it, airdrawndagger-style, and even if the overall production quality is shit cause i suck, it feels like it could turn out quite great if it was done properly

Not questioning your musical knowledge or anything but are you sure you mean the original & not the Miro '99 version? (The one with the "Wherever you go, I will follow..." lyrics.) Just that most people seem to think that's the original when it isn't. Cos if so then I'd agree that mix was relatively simplistic/dull, but the original is mindblowing in comparison, imho.

But if you definitely mean the original then forgive me, and well, tastes I guess. I agree about Farmatronic being the best remix though (not heard moonwatchers, will check it out.)

moonwatchers remix is a chillout remix that was first in those chillout euphoria compilations that was released on telstar, but then when three drives released their 2nd album, it was the first track on the 2nd disc. and yes, it is very very good, also for another brilliant take on greece 2000 is the man with no name remix, released on hooj, it's a psy/goa take of it and really comes out mint

I agree with that, and most M.I.K.E. tracks. His productions just have this certain magic to them that any remix would just take away. Except for Journey of Life, which sucked so I didn't have anything against it being remixed

I also thought the same about Scott Bond vs Solar Stone - Naked Angel, but obviously their label didn't share my opinion

True, never ever should have been fucked with.

He did... and it didn't sound butchered because he kept most of the original flavor in the song while at the same time adding a slightly different touch.

An untouchable that comes to mind is Nu-NRG - Free Fall. I don't think Whiteroom - The White Room could use a remix either. They're both extremely good productions already.

Mr Sam vs Fred Baker pres. As One - Forever Waiting - the m.i.k.e remix is a joke, the original kicks ass

m.i.k.e remix is better than the original!

Posted by Matty V on Jun-26-2004 13:26:

Remixing a classic is only a bad if the remix is crap.

I wouldn't have thought a tune like skydive should be touched but Mara's remix is decent (only remix ive heard of it)

though sometimes a remix can be better than the original. I would argue Ferry Corstens remix of Push - Universal nation is better than the original

oh please, he hasnt even kept half of the melody, it just sucks compared to the original imo, one of the worst remixes by mike ever
and I guess there isn't any reason why most dj's have spun the original mix instead of the m.i.k.e remix...

yeah i know it sounds not even remotely closer to the original. i like it for the punchy kick, the evil atmosphere, the synths and the energy. the original is pretty cool too, but i prefer the mix. and it's one of his best remixes ever, cause most of his remixes are pretty poor compared to his original productions.

this of course, in my opinion.
