EAC + Lame is the best.
never use audiograbber cuz it's really bad.

Beta is just fine. Works better than "stable" Windows does :-D

sweet, didn't know that,

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Audio Catalyst. Yeah its a bit old but its uses Lame encoding, has a nice CDDB button you can hit to fill in all the track names, and ripping your entire CD to one giant MP3 like you pointed out you wanted to do is a snap. Its so straightforward and works perfectly, I've never needed anything else.

sorry to say but all the replies are wrong...

there is a FREE, and excellent way to back up your music in mp3 format

use the EAC/LAME combination

EAC (exactaudiocopy) is a program that can rip your cd's into waves securely...its the best ripping program for free, hands down, no argument

LAME is the best free mp3 encoder around...fairly fast, and because its open source and optimized and tested by audiophiles, its good

i'm not sure if it's okay to post links...so here it is

www.exactaudiocopy.de

for a FREE copy of EAC

for the LAME codec, you can find it here:

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?showtopic=478&

the rest of hydrogenaudio has a grip of mp3 related stuff...so if you need more help, i can write a quick tutorial here for you...but hands down this is the best FREE combination out there...and i personally use it to rip music i own =)

later

thanks dude. could you help with installation/usage via a tutorial or something? i want to get started backing up all of my cds to 320kbps mp3.

cheers,
keith

depends on how many cds you've got! i've ran out of space totally, but i've got other shit taking up space too though and i don't even rip to 320 though! but my cds that i've ripped take up a HUGE part of my total hdd space

no, not in EAC? anyone?

Cdex it uses Lame encoder.
It's free (last time i checked, a long time ago)...

One that will rip entire CD to 1 mp3 is... EXact audio copy... and its fairly easy just go to the menu's and fairly easy to figure out. Coming from me and i'm just completely ignorant about burning/ripping as a monkey would be able to do it better than me...but i figured it out but havent done it in 2 years now so i forget

you're all wrong. EAC/lame is the BEST solution for high quality mp3.

i wrote down a step-by-step guide on setting it up to churn out HQ mp3's from your collection. If you are interested just let me know and i'll post the URL.

damn i should read the rest of the pages first before writing something down...anyways...

keithos27, please give my tutorial a read

http://www.hypnotika.host.sk/index....tutorials&tut=5

WARNING: using IE will generate a ton of pop-ups...(i'm sorry but it IS a free host ) so use Firefox or something.

if you have any other questions, let me know.
