hmm i think i must have been at a different show...
PVD WAS TERRIBLE! WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! there was absolutely NO FLOW whatsoever btwn the tracks just train wreck after train wreck (did anyone notice the periodic really loud train sound i thought it was fitting) did pvd just leave his computer playing winamp on random or something? the decks were just for show eh?
he played some decent trance but w/o any flow it just wasnt the same at all
imho pvd should stay in the studio
did anyone notice the commercialization factor with the motorola logo continually on all the projection screens?
pvd was playing such soft trance with no flow and he has sold out to commercialism it seems he is well on the way of goin in the path of paul oakenfold commercial bitch extraordinaire....paul oakenfold, paul van dyk i am beginning to see a trend here of djs named paul hmmmm...
what a waste of time last nite was -- it was so not worth the tired factor at work today (and this having slept in an hr by accident hehe)
i have also come to the realisation that the docks really is the new hotness for trance in toronto -- when i saw johan gielen there (thanx for the v.i.p. justin styles) there was room to dance and to breathe and i had an amazing time the guv was packed maybe not like by tiesto but it was full enough that standing right in front of the main sets of speakers (i stood in front of both at different times) i barely had room to move
i was sort of confused by the ole ole as well, when did the guv move to quebec?
This was DEFINITELY my best party at Guvernment.
Main reason: THERE WAS LOTSA ROOM TO DANCE !
I think many people got scared away from going to PVD after hearing how packed Tiesto was. Which, is of course great for the rest of us cause Guv was probably "emptier" than on a regular saturday night. There were still lotsa people, but the amount was just right.
We got to the club around 11:30PM as Mark Oliver was spinning some sweet trance. His opening set at Tiesto was better IMHO, though he did play some amazing music for about 20 mins before PVD's arrival.
Overall people seemed to be more socializing than dancing until PVD came one. 5/10 for Mark's set up to 12:50. 10/10 for Mark's set from 12:50 till 1:15
PVD was a bit late and came on at about 1:15. His first track was Digital Pressure - Aftershock(at least I thought it was that, in any case it was a very familiar track) and I thought to myself - "O NO ! PVD is gonna play the same set he already played a hundred times". Well three tracks later, I realized that PVD had something else in mind. I barely recognized any tracks in his set, except a few already mentioned in the thread(Crush, Voodoo People, naranja). His set was indeed very different from his usual sets. Almost no epic tracks, just pure driving techno/tech-trance(with a couple of noteable exceptions). Awesome ! Some of my friends who came with me were a little dissapointed as were excpecting a more melodic set. To me; however, this set was very fresh, innovative and obviously great sounding ! 10/10
Mark's closing set was decent. Again not as good as his closing set at Tiesto. Mark played really good for about 40 mins after PVD, then started playing some shit house. I think he even played some disco track.. wtf ?? Finally he concluded with PVD - The Riddle and PVD - For and angel. Never heard Riddle live - Absolutely incredible ! Everyone got kicked out 6.
Sound System was configured really great this time - sound quality was awesome. I was very very happy PVD didn't play Time of Our Lives or Nothing but you. It seems he finally realized that it's time to let go of these tracks. BTW, I was surprised that PVD didn't get the same crowd reaction as Tiesto. Also the crowd was different from Tiesto's in the sense that Tiesto night featured a lot of clubbers, whereas this night seemed to feature a lot of people who normally don't go clubbing, but who like PVD and decided to come. Overall, I've met lotsa people I wouldn't expect to see there. First of all LOTSA Russians ! Holy cow, I've never heard so much Russian speech at a party before. I felt like I was back in Russia, LOL.
I feel sorry for all the TAs who came to see Tiesto, but the for reason missed PVD. Big mistake 
As a result, there weren't too many TAs(probably the lowest number in a long long time), but those who were there made the difference !
BTW, Artem where were you all night? I was looking for you so many times. You've just dissapeared. Sorry for waking you up, I had to call you to see if you were still in the club. You never said bye to anyone.

I can't even find the words to explain how good that was.....I am totally in awe....he was beautiful and that was one of the best sets I've ever heard....he is God..
My night at the Guv!
Well all I can say is, what an amazing night. 
I started liking PVD in 2000, but was into house music at that time. So this was the first time seeing PVD, and I had always wanted to see him in the past but he seemed to come down the same weekend as AVB and we always ended up seeing AVB instead.
Started the Journey from K-Town (With PartEgurl, DancingQueen and iDream) and drove though some mad ass rain. Arrived at the Guvernment about 10:30pm and was really glad to see NO line and no rain!!! The Guvernment was a little less crowed than it was for Tiesto. I found Mark played some of the same songs (for his opening) as he did for the Tiesto night. I was hoping he would play Inner Warmth � Lightscape (my favorite song at the moment) and he did. He also played Under The Sun � Whirlpool, Satellite (which is so ironic because when we walked through the doors for Tiesto, Oliver was playing that song, and when we walked in last night, YES the same track was being played again. What really surprised me, was that Mark played Forever Waiting � Mr. Sam and Fred Baker (and I haven�t heard this since Tiesto played it at Aria last year).
PVD was late coming on he came on at 1:17am and spun until approx 3:50am! K-Towner�s and others made our way upfront. It wasn�t as crammed as I thought it was going to be. I was impressed that he didn�t just spin the two hours as expected. I knew a few songs, some have been already mentioned and the only one I haven�t seen mentioned was Summer Sun � 4 Strings and Amen � Flash Brothers (Original Mix)---> What an amazing track 
! Last night was the first time I ever heard it and it�s awesome. The guitar part in this track is wicked. When we were driving home I hummed a song that I had heard last night to PartEgurl and she said it was Crush. I realize it�s an older song, but I had never really gotten into it before, and now I LOVE IT! It will now always remind me of this night.
I wasn�t overly impressed with PVD�s set (maybe because I�m a little Bias towards Tiesto 
and am still impressed with Tiesto�s performance from two weeks ago) but I�m not saying PVD�s set was bad. I think he only played two of his own songs, and when you see PVD for the first time you want to hear his classics. What made the night really amazing, were the people that I met. When we go to T.O. for parties we usually hang with just the K-Town crowd, but last night we hung out with a lot of TA�s and others that weren�t TA�s. I�m not overly great with remembering names but I met DJ Amps (awesome guy) thanks for the CD and it was really nice hanging out with ya, Ken (who I called Kevin all night�SORRY ), Rabbit Joker � You are an amazing guy, awesome sense of humor and genuinely nice guy . Met up with StarSearcher again, looked like you had a great time! Met up with some guys who weren�t TA�s--->Jeff, Jeff, Rob and Ed (awesome guys, really enjoyed hanging out with them) and I�m sorry, as I have a really hard time remembering names but I met a lot of other really nice people. I can say this was one of my favorite nights out because of the people.
Mark Oliver�s final set wasn�t as good as his performance after Tiesto. He played a few good songs, and one I really like (I don�t know what it�s called � �Just won�t do, without you�) Female vocalist and an older house song. I was happy that he did play For An Angel as I didn�t get PVD to play it.
Other notes:
The whistlers weren�t that bad, and didn�t notice them as the night went on.
The Temperature wasn�t as bad as the Tiesto night.
I was impressed with the dancing space up at the front.
I didn�t want to leave, but one of us had to be home early.
PVD � 8/10
Overall Vibe � 10/10
I had amazing time and thanks to all that made it so memorable! Sorry if this is lengthy as I�m probably rambling on!

Personally the style of music was not my favourite, I guess I am too much into "cheese" trance/ vocal, and sometimes hard pounding as well....Tiesto's set IMO was 100 times better, however the fact that the guv was not packed was awesome.
I agree with that other dude who was questioning the use of the Laptop? and what is with the Motorolla logo? I guess the more money the better right? but makes someone of his status look like a cheese ball for having that on his video.....

Capacity 10/10, for once the guv was nice to be in...not packed at all....
The two chicks on the stage with the short flared skirts.....ya they looked pretty good....but they need to learn how to dance.....same move over and over again.....BORING!!.....did they even know who was on the decks? LOL!
Someone who made an impression on me that night...
A girl who was dancing near the patio door, about 5,6" redish tube top, jeans, light brown hair tight in a bun or pony...can't remember...gorgeous girl, who danced really well IMO, moved with the music, she looked like she knew her stuff...

the only pvd productions he played was wir sind wir (only once) and crush.
no repeats of any tracks, and an absolutely banging set from beginning to end. no sleepers...it was FANTASTIC. totally worth the trip.
huge thanks to nathalie for having the balls i don't have when it comes to approaching paul. i never would have taken advantage of the opportunity, i hope the picture comes out well! also for letting us shower and rest before the horribly painful drive to syracuse.
off to nyc in a few minutes...

i met a lot of TA's last night as well, that was incredible. thanks to the TA's i met and made it an even better experience. who spotted me? i was the black dude with dread locks and a sleeve less adidas top.
once again PVD blew me away. overall a great night, glad i quit my job so i could sleep in today.
DVD2004 pretty much summed up the night for me
The set wasn't the greatest, but the people made the night for me! I met a bunch of really great TA's, met the usuals again, and even met a few great guys from Buffalo
RJ - you mentioned something about helping me host my pictures...PM me when you get a chance to help me set them up.

PVD wow. I knew his style was different the Tiesto, but last night was like a 2 hours of seamless hard pounding trance leading up to Naranja. Amazing time, room to dance great, great energy from everyone around.

The Guv was comfortable, Loved it, Room to dance, GREAT party atmosphere and cleaner then I have seen. AND IT WASN'T TOO LOUD!!!!
PVD - Good stuff. Expected more like his other sets (I Kinda would have liked to here more like that) but the new stuff was a treat.

Mark was a little dissipointing towards the end, cause at tiesto he played uplifiting vocal and he didn't play any this time (disco house). He finished with PVD - Tell me Why and For an Angel for those that were still there at 6am.
Quick shouts to all the TA's. Starsearcher, well get you another CD. All the Kingston Crew, Made the night very enjoyable!
ps. Got PVD my Demo, one of the highlights of the night, reached over and picked it off me in the middle of the set

Awesome night! The music was hard and pounding, the way I'm finding I like it much better! In terms of the club, much better than Tiesto! Much more clear, more room to dance. Left a little early, but still had an AMAZING TIME! PVD did NOT disappoint!

Good to see most of you again, Happy birthday to Sally, hope you had a wikkid time! Sure looked like you were, and everybody else who I saw. See you all on the boat!
