Re: PVD @ Spirit

Hey Dan! good to hear from you. I didn't see you at Spirit or the Park - it's not a party without you I think they brought in a bunch of JBL stacks and some active equalizers (those block boxes hanging from the ceiling). I thought the sound was good that night. My favorite track of the evening - Amiel - LoveSong!

Line was quick, at least for ticket holders, and the place was crowded as expected, but not packed like sardines (except maybe in the middle of the floor).

I see that Spirit has changed its sound system - used to be Funktion One speakers, now mostly JBL. Lights have been added to the stage (where the DJ booth is) and other parts of the club.

So that was his second to last track! I was trying to figure out who that was. Most of the TA's I met were at the middle left. Good seeing you Liz at the Park.

Pretty nice venue, although the bass was killing my ears. Did anyone else notice that in the background they were showing clips from earlier that night at summerstage? That was pretty cool.

The highlight of my night was

Schiller Mit Heppner - Leben...I Feel You (Humate remix)

I DIEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!

i loved everything about this after party!!! for me, it was just awesome to be in that location and have pvd be standing up there in so much control like he always was in twilo..... good times and memories.

down side was having nothing to show for it after dying at central park....withstanding the cold freezing rain really kicked my ass. thank god i was able to dry up and change somewhat. his set was awesome, pounding and driving...all the particularly good new tracks were played at both events, but summerstage's sound didn't do them justice and i was happy to hear them again. for me its all about summer dream and 2 IDs. anyway, thank you paul van dyk for a spectacular effort.... im glad he saw just how much he was appreciated with the crowd withstanding 4 continuous cold rainy hours. i couldnt hang past schiller,i feel you (which is a pvd edit for whoever thinks it was humate). i loved everything.

i HATED the trendy bullshit that has been setup in the sacred space of twilo. the only good things were the location, pvd, and the crowd....decent sound.

they had no lights whatsoever, twilo's massive dance floor had been ruined... and please dont think shining whats practically a fuckin spotlight in my face is going to make think you have good club lighting

a GREAT time...

I LOVE PvD

posted from the SS thread...

wow!!! what a night!! liz and i ended up getting to summerstage at 8:00!!! we left baltimore at around 12:30 and were LITERALLY stuck in lincoln tunnel traffic for 1hr 45 mins. 7 damn hr drive when it normally takes 4!!!!

but we got there when it was nice and rainy, thankfully saw brian (vtec) right away to hook up with him and other ta's. got soaked in about 5 mins, but i was totally feelin the rain. liz and i ditched our shoes behind a trashcan and just went barefoot in the park!! waaay better than slippin on my flip flops. the set he played at SS was pretty good, too bad i missed half of it. i think it was better that he played more of his classics at SS and harder stuff at Spirit when the sun went down.

after SS, went back to our friends place and showered/changed...then headed over to spirit at about 12:30. totally feelin the club setup! i thought it was gonna be a lot smaller than that, but for a pvd crowd i actually had a lot of room. i was a little "out of my mind" that night so i can't remember too many of the tracks paul played. oop! BUT i do remember that they were hard and bangin and totally awesome...great buildups, and a LOT of new shit i had never heard.

shout outs to:

liz: you're my best girl, i know you read TA, join FFS!!!!
vlad: you truly are the TA bodyguard. i never knew you were such a sweetie...thanks for taking care of me and liz all night and warding off weird ethnic men who didnt speak english, we love you!!!!
Brian: great seeing you again...you definitely are my boy and i missed you so much! we need to hang out more
ryan (djslantzz): so good to see you and trish again!!!! i missed you guys! and congrats again to SEAN TYAS!! (his brother!)
rachel: FINALLY got to meet you! next time i want to actually hang out where we don't have to scream over each other.
indy: glad we settled the score
daniela: hey girl!!! you looked AMAZING!!! your ass is def hitting up glow when it opens
lee (sandstorm): you aren't such a bad guy after all...so happy to meet ya!!
john and alisa (frost and miss bliss): you guys rock, wish you could have joined us for SS...but there will be other times
joey (bitchboy): again, great meeting you too..and thanks for my present!!!
brianna (sunshine): you and your sweetie patrick are so forking hot together! wish we could have hung out more...
sean tyas: so great to see you again...good luck in germany with your music!!!! say hi to dumonde and cosmic gate for me! and i'm still waiting on that autograph! btw, i was really digging the blonde hair

also great seeing: avikonen, pacha4life and his ATL friend, rachel (holycow), liz (ny1004)--my girl for gettin the ID!!!!, colibri, sot, dirtydave, skytrancegirl, amy and anyone else i saw/met that i forgot!! i love you all though!!!! you helped make this an incredible nyc trip

SAL!!! how in the hell did we miss each other AGAIN!! i looked all over for you, but could not find ya. and at summerstage i was standing right next to john, alisa, vlad, brian, rachel and all them. hope you had a good time hunni but i missed meeting you...
also missed meeting bubblerave, dr86, eyesofextacy...

aight ya'll, my butt has got to get back to reality and start studying again. oh yes, one more thing...

does anyone know the song PVD played right before Ride?? it went something with female vocals about the sun and the moon and the stars??? please help, it was sooo good!!!! thanks!!!!

ahhh that song was sooo hot too!! sooo good to hear in a club...same with "love song"

Posted by 531.am on Jun-28-2004 02:16:

wtf was the first track that he encored with..and the last track he played during his set at spirit. FFS I was going nuts with Brian, Rach, and Vlad

Posted by PVD_S11DJ on Jun-28-2004 05:05:

I was so suprised that Paul spun Lostep - Burma! that was a nice suprise. amazing set @ Spirit overall - minimal cheeze, maximum intensity spirit is a joke tho - Id rather see him back at Roxy next time. good seeing everyone that I got a chance to say Hi to (john&michelle, lee, chris, scott, leann, bri, indy, brian, etc) I agree that Sean Tyas - Remember sounded amazzzzzing

Posted by VisionsofPVD on Jun-28-2004 05:32:

Arrow good times..

It was nice seeing some of you guys at both SS and Spirit, and I thought that both sets were great, with the SS set being a little more interesting and rememorable...

For me, the hightlights of the night were:

Final Encore: Condor II - You can Kiss My Ass (Light of Day Mix)
I was surprised that Paul picked this 4 year old track out from his track database! (memories of EM from Home in London 2000)

Sean Tyas - Remember (When is this Getting Signed Sean!!!)
Pvd & Peter Heppner - Wir Sind Wir (Club Mix)
Sensorica - Few Days Away (Askew's Red Square Mix)
Castanada - Floor Control (Askew Mix)
Mojado feat. Mr. Sam - Naranja (Dimitri Andreas Vision Mix)
Illuminate - Montevideo (PvD Rework) <--- Bangin!!
J.L.N.D. - The Sound of Nothing (Unknown Mix) <--Great track!
Paul van Dyk - Buenaventura (Vinyl remix)

Again, it was an unbelievable 24 hours for me, and the day brought hope to the notion that Paul brings his "A" game when he comes to NY...

I'll add more tracks later...
