Ya I knew that, I guess I should have bought one when Kyle first told us. I just didn't think that many people would be going to Spooky.

Posted by hypronix on Oct-23-2001 02:35:

big, big, very big shit!
tix are 75.. my gf went 2day to see and she told me they are now 75... hell, I didn't have money anyway, so I don't think I would have gone, but I feel sorry for her.
I guess 75 bux I'd only spend for BT.. but sometimes much is too much, no matter who.. I wonder how many ppl will go, and how cool the party will be...

on the other hand, for me Halloween is more an oportunity for parties than anything else. stupid holiday!

Posted by apri_peel on Oct-23-2001 06:46:

buy tix for ubc/sfu pub crawl, only $25 and they go around whole bunch of vancouver clubs on 30 buses on the 27th and the halloween night. saves ya 50 bucks

Posted by hypronix on Oct-23-2001 21:11:

I saw there's another party in the area... check out www.ravesite.net, at upcoming events.
oh, and they took out the Spooky 6 flyer...

apri-peel, what's the thing with those tix? cause my english did not understand yours... my mistake, I know, don't flame me too hard (just a little so I'll learn better, pls! )

thanx anyway!

Easy for you to say, you probably flyer for them and you get in free. If I had one more paycheck before the weekend I would, but I spent so much money on records I'm broke. I am sure some of you out there understand that. But let me know how it was.

Posted by Special_K on Oct-25-2001 18:29:

just for the record i got my ticket for 58 bux 4 days ago....no free party for me

Posted by patticus on Oct-25-2001 20:51:

still, too much for me too. i spent $850 on records last month. gotta make the visa payment.

trainspot for us, if u can..

I was just kidding about that comment , but $75 is out of control.

And Pat, $850!!!!! how many records do you have in you collection now? I spent $300 last month and I thought that was alot. I am jealous.

Posted by patticus on Oct-26-2001 05:21:

i dunno man somewhere btw 310 and 330.....

but when i try to make new sets its annoying.... cuz im guilty of buying a lot of old stuff, stuff you know. you name it, i probably have it, cant get it, or dont like it.

i swear, i can recreate parts of many famous mixes... haha.

so its tough to be original, i suggest instead trying to find underground quality tracks...

which is hard, i know how it is cuz all i wanted at first was the classics and big hits etc... but that's way too taxing.

shit, I wish it was so easy for me... but again I will have to ask for stories from this...

but I guess even if I had the money I wouldn't go.. keep'em to travel to Ontario whenever some big and bad is happenin'.. no need to sleep there, just go, see and get back..

but anyway, for who's going, have fun!

Ya I know what ya mean, when I first bought my decks I bought every song that I knew the name of that I have ever liked. Or at least what I could find.

Now I just buy newer stuff, some more underground and some stuff all the great DJ's are playing.

I think just buy what you like.

I heard the same thing too...

I think here in Vancouver we're all getting pretty used to the fact, that on the rare occasion a big DJ from Europe gets booked to come here(or the promoter says they're coming here), they just pull a no-show.

Posted by jesten on Oct-29-2001 00:14:

That's funny because I bet my friend 5 bucks that Signum would no show. Whats with the Vancouver promoters???

Posted by patticus on Oct-29-2001 00:30:

haha, just like dumonde eh?

of course, that sucks for ppl who spent the money though..

sorry, taking a while to respond, but basically, the first 500 (or whatever the number) tickets were $35, then the next whatever (500? 1000?) were $50 or something, and so on
so did anyone end up going or what?

Posted by Special_K on Oct-29-2001 03:13:

I ended up going. Shitty that Signum was a no show but we went with a group of almost 20 people so it was a really good time.

One of my friends waited to get a ticket at the door for 125 bux or somthing. The bad part is that when she went to go buy the ticket they were all sold out......so she snuck in

The music was pretty good all night. Dave London and DJ Miss Behaving(the new tidy girl) spun really good sets.

Posted by patticus on Oct-29-2001 04:12:

so are those two djs you mentioned are both hard house?

what did tell ya....the chances of seeing a decent european dj in this city is getting worst & worst, fuck i cant wait to get out of here

Posted by jesten on Oct-29-2001 16:05:

You called it Koss, As far as I am concerned the scene here is now dead. Promoters promise and can't deliver. Yep I gonna start thinking about moving to Toronto or Holland.(I wish )

Posted by Special_K on Oct-29-2001 20:13:

WARNING LOOOOOONG POST

first of all for Patticus Dave London spun trance and DJ miss Behavin had a blend of hard trance and hard house. Both sets were pretty freaking good.

Honestly Twisted productions is your best bet for seeing good talent. There by far the most trust worthy company. There could be a million reasons as to why Signum didnt show that wern't twisted's fault. For all we know they missed a flight or somthing. There were 5000 people at this party which made it a complete sell out, like i said my friend had to sneak, so money probably wasnt the reason Signum didnt show.

sweet god people have some freaking faith in your city. The Tronto scene my be bumping right now but it could be dead in two months. up untill about 3 months ago me and my friends were going to partys every weekend......and they were GOOD partys. In under a year here is a VERY short list of some of the talent we saw:

Agnelli & Nelson, John'00'Fleming, Judge Jules, Tim Lyall, Olmec Heads, Ian M, Fergie, Anne Savage, Lisa Lashes, Tidy Boys, Tiesto x 5, riched Mears, Marc et Claude, Lock'n'Load, Les Hemstock, Deep Dish, ollie Jaye x 4, Jon the Dentist x 2, Irish pete, BK, Nick Sentience, and Ed Real

Man these are just off the top of my head and i got a shitty memory plus there are like 100 more i dont feel like typing out. And these DJ's are just Trance and Hard House If your into breaks and D&B then you've probably been in heaven for the last 5 months or so.

Just because the scene is slow right now dosnt mean it will be slow 3 months from now. Honstly what do you all expect. so far right now there are only two legel venues with the capacity need to break even let alone make money for there next partys these venues are Riverside and the PNE Colliseum. If you factor in the fact that the PNE probably cost MINIMUM $70,000 plus the price of about 150 PNE staff working Plus the MASSIVE sound system, Lights, police, and talent. Man thats Hella cash. Man if Azim didnt sell that thing out he would be f****d right now.

Rumor has it that the Plaza of nations will be opening again, this will provide a venue with tons of capacity with a much lower price, plus night clubs are going to be able to stay open till 5am i think. Both of these will give the scene the kick in the ass it needs.

As for Spooky, That was one of the best partys I've been to. EVERYONE was there and it was a kickass social night if anything.....no regrets here.

Posted by jesten on Oct-30-2001 16:13:

Seb Fontaine, Paul Oakenfold, Timo Mass......

I understand what you are trying to say. I was only blaming Twisted because is seems way to often promoters promise and don't deliver. He could have come down with the flu for that matter. I am not totally ignorant.

Before the Summer, there was high quality DJ's all the time I could not go a 2 week strech with having to go to a club or a rave. The first half of the year was excellent for Vancouver. But then what happened....

I go to teamhardcore.com and I can't find a huge party anywere. Besides that PVD and Tong tease. That's why I was dissapointed when AMP not having a Sweet gets Wicked. I give Twisted credit they have had some huge partys that I have enjoyed.

As for Spooky6, the line-up was pretty weak for the the amount of money the were charging. No way I would pay mor than 50 bucks for that. Apart from Signum(no showed) they didn't have much to see. I just seemed like they were bringing people from the UK so the people who know less about music than we do think they are huge names. I am not saying they suck, I am just saying just because they are from the UK doesn't mean they are great.

Peace

Tong is here on the 20th at Sonar, don't miss it =)

Also, you'll want to check out November 12th at Voda I think, or Shine. It's the Benson & Hedges BIG DJ/small club event, in the past they've brought in the likes of Oakie and Tiesto, so they're going to have someone equally large for this. Definitely come check it out.
