My first computer;

i remember playing some game where "0"'s rolled down the screen and u had to jump ure box over them.

You still got that... you could sell it for a fair bit I reckon. A collectors item.

But don't try and compare old-skool-ness to what we had... it wasn't commercially available (dad used to work developing the first computers) it used the first 'transistors' and was running off ferrite core memory

yep been waiting for this and hl2 for some time now! however i need to get a new vid card before i'll be able to play it :|

now the hard choice.. x800xt or 6800ultra

Us mac users dont have a choice of cards atr the moment really

my new dual G5 normally come sstock with a Radeon 9600 XT, or you can option it up with a 9800 XT 256MB or a GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL

I thinK I will go the 6800, coz it is the only card available that is from teh newest gen of cards. I just have a feeling that I will get this, then the X800 will arrive for mac and out perform it!!

Who else had a commodore 64???

How awesome was wizard of war (the original cartridge version u plug in the back!!)??

Holy crap! screens cant even begin to show the insanity that is doom3! And that was a year ago too! I'm now officially moving Christmas to august 3rd

will hl2 becoming out on xbox? i know doom3 is, which is good because i cbf upgrading my comp again

my excitement for new computer games coming out is dropping as the length of time we keep this computer rises...
so i dont really care hehe

Yes this is going to be awesome, just hope its a bit different to previous two.

Anyone played Driver 3? looks nice oh and Splinter Cell - Pandoras Tomorrow came out, ugh damn looks nice.

If you people want a FPS, then you should get Morrowind, it's like Lord Of The Rings setting but FPS with RPG features.

this game looks fucking unreal, i hope i wont have to buy a 500 dollar video card to play it tho

Most top of the range cards are about 250

get the Radeon 9800 256mb XT for like $250 or close to it, graphics that looks so real, but they havent even made games to show the cards full power.

Oh yeh my bad, i think i was looking at a US site, but even at this US site they had it for around 250, which i guess equals about 350 here.

but that 9600 is good enough, my old graphics card was the 3200 RIVA TNT 2 32mb and still ran some games beautifully.

I got a new Gigabyte Radeon 9600XT 128mb video card for my birthday w00t!

Now I need more RAM and a new monitor.

This game should be an excuse to go out and buy a new video card!

Mmmmm I wish I had the money to get an x800....

Does anyone know if the game will support Pixel Shader 3.0 (A unique feature for the new Nvidia 6800 card; a patch has just been made for FarCry)?!

Better than doom3 easily, might be contender against HL2 even.

September issue of PC Gamer contains the first review of Doom 3. They give it a 94%!

PC Gamer says:

Highs: Extraordinary graphics and sound; incredible tension, atmosphere, and mayhem.

Lows: Some stabs at humor fall a bit flat.

Bottom Line: Just as we'd hoped, it's a non-stop ride of tension, carnage and terror. A new classic.

I doubt it mate , the Doom series has it's diehard cult following and the anticipation has been incredible. IT OWNZ!!
