Both Lange & Dumonde were amazing! 8 Hours non-stop of the hardest, most intense trance tunes ever made. There was never a dull moment. Dumonde played tons of new stuff, but he also played all of his original remixes that were on everyones favorite list between 2001-2003. Stuff that you will never hear in a club again. |

. she also has nice legs.

GREAT TIME
I got there at 12 - Mike Bugout was on ripping it up. He warmed the crowd up perfectly...would love to see him with a NYC resideny soon.
Have to admit, I did get a little lost wondering around from room to room. I was chillin in the 'rave' room for like 20 minutes..very lost and confused.
Once I found the main room upstairs, that's where I was the rest of the night. That and the rooftop.
Lange was having technical difficulties earlier, which must have really pissed him off. Looked like a lot of things weren't working. HOWEVER, once things got settled he absolutely ROCKED it out. Crowd was really vibing to his set, I was really vibing to his set, and it looked like he was vibing as well.
DuMonde came on at 3:30 and just owned the night. Relentless, pounding beat after beat. INSANE. I cloed it out and have to say this was one of the most beautiful nights I have experienced. The music was on point, the sound system was thumping nicely (especially towards the back stage) and simply said IT WAS DIFFERENT.
I was on the rooftop grabing a beer and actually had an awesome conversation with Lange (Stuart). He's really an awesome dood. DuMonde was signing autographs, taking pictures with people's phone's, EVEN listening to people's requests ALL during their SET. I have yet to see that anywhere!! Not to mention how cool BOTH Lange and DuMonde were with you creeping into the DJ booth to catch a peek and just say what's up.
As I think everyone was, I personally was very surprised and upset with the outcome. The crowd that was there was a pure JOY to share this night with. However, I feel like there was a lack of energy due to the small #'s.
I did notice Jan Johnston, and a few other pretty big DJs. That's very cool!
I think this club/party has a lot of potential if they build upon this Friday night. From what I know, Shelter doesn't have a Fridy night party - thus explaining the lack of people in the club. Like others said, the night did have an ARC feeling to it.
My highlights are of course DuMonde + Lange. This was some of the best music I have ever heard in NYC. The people that did make it out were true supporters of DuMonde and Lange and the vibe was strong. Lots of unity. Most importantly, I realized all the DJs - while superstars in their own right - are just people. Talking with Lange on the roof was so awesome. Explaining to me how he got in to all this, what he likes to spin, etc.
I hope the promoters continue to do SOMETHING with this night/party. It has the possibility of being the kind of place where you not only hear the BEST music in NYC, but you become educated by the DJs/producers themselves by talking and chilling with them.
Well, that's my review. To those of you that didn't make it out, I don't think you'd understand where I'm coming from. For those of you that WERE there - you must see where I'm coming from.
I hope both Lange and DuMonde come back soon. They are WAY too talented to not be in NYC regularly. Perhaps the other clubs will wake up - but then again, I don't know how I feel about the other clubs. Maybe shelter was the right place for them.

) I know where you are coming from.
please welcome .....DUMONDE
WOW!!! what a weekend!! I am kinda glad for all this rain cuz i can now get some zzzzzzz. I had to go to my pop's 60th birthday party which had the gayest band ever, well the old ppl liked it. The party did have free coronas but knowing dumonde wasn't going on til 3:30 meant drinking had to be curbed.
I got to the city around 1-1:30 and walked to shelter from msg. I was surprised to see no line. i don't know why but when i heard about the "rave" and dumonde i figured ..well.. more ppl. I saw a few TAs that i haven't seen since WMC MIA (great fukin time) which was cool. I caught the last hour-hour/half of lange. I must admit i don't know too much about him but he played pretty fukin good. alot of energy and a great prequel the dumonde. At exactly 3:30, the german phenoms came on and it was OVER!!!! they fukin KILLED it. I mean this is why i club. hard bass, great synths, plenty of mids. they would break it down to just bass or some creepy ass mid then keep addin and addin til ....the fukin roof blew off. Wow! dumonde was everything i hoped for. I was starting to doubt what they were gonna do when i saw that that the place was nearly empty ( turned out great b/c all the room to dance) and the fact that there was so many candy ravers hahahaha, Man its been awhile since i seen ppl like that. i just have to laugh, not that i have anything against them just well i was kinda one back in the day and ... it makes me laugh aahhhahah. The only shitty thing was that there was no where to really chill or to change vibes. one room was dumonde, the other was the roof (man, did anyone else feel all those eyes on you when you left the stairwell and came out for some fresh air), and well that was it. at about six i felt like leaving eventhough was really in no condition to walk. My legs were killing me from dancing so much in the begining.
Big shout to the TA's that were there. I seen alotta them but i still feel wierd to interupt their groove just to say hi. I got a chance to chill with lange after he spun -cool fukin character. Alex langae and tek? were chilin with him upstairs for like a half hour. I mostly sat there dumbfounded that here was a kick ass dj and such a down to earth chill fuker.
Tom good seeing you, sorry i couldn't raise your enjoyment, you're still rockin like no other
Jenny-when did you leave, see you at zabiela
alex i luv ya you big lug
sorry to other who were there, we really have to do better to identify us or maybe a meetup before or during?
Negative shout out goes to John for not going- YOU BROKEAZZ BIZNATCH hahahaha, see you at Zabiela and at tae's partae

Dumonde was awesome on Friday. They played hard and epic trance all night. Not too much variety, but they're Dumonde so, whatever. The turnout kind of sucked for some reason which was a bit of a downer, but like everyone said, the music was great and made the night worthwhile. Personally, I really like Shelter as a venue, especially for that type of event. I really hope the kids throwing the party don't get discouraged by the turnout, and keep this thing up. If they keep bringing in talent like last night, the numbers will follow.

New To TA
Im new to this forum and to the NY trance scene. I went to shelter friday night and was kinda dissapointed by the turnout. On the website link to buy the tix for lange and dumonde, didn't it say it was sold out, or that they were out of tix. Anyway the turnout sucked but the night was amazing.
