Saw the movie.

YOu have to be open minded about shit like this and not let your own beliefs cloud your judgement and at the same token don't take everything literally.
Michael Moore is obviously a liberal and obviously this movie is gonna be biased. His depiction of the casualties in Iraq, aid his crusade against Bush and the Iraq war.
However there are some irrefuitable facts throughout his movie. Such as the connections w/ the Bush and Bin Laden families, the 2000 election...etc.
Facts are Facts!!
You can't dismiss these facts based on Moore being a leftist a "bigot", or "liar"

Bush has proven to be an inadequate president who can't even hold proper interviews. Never did I see Jay Leno or Letterman make fun of Clinton over how arrogant and clueless he appears in interviews/union addresses.

It makes me laugh that people criticise the movie without watching it. Go watch it first. Some of you need to take your lips away from conservative bottom at least for once.

lol...i was in a bad mood until i read this thread.

politics is hilarious. no one has listened to anything anyone has said. people just want to back up their own assumptions.

as a libertarian who believes in a small government and liberal social reform, i just laugh at the partisan crap being spewed on both sides. funny though, this is supposed to be nothing compared to the flames dished out in the jacksonian era, where politics was a much hotter issue.

this thread can dance around forever. Someone could say take those facts and prove them true

I dunno. I just dont think its going to do anything but polarize. If you dont like moore and you see it youll probably just hate him more and dismiss the film. Those who like him and his politics will just like him more.

Not many people say "it was alright, I didnt really care about anything in there"

I can remember one `twisting of the truth` that Moore was claimed to have done. It was in Bowling for Columbine. He made reference to a Lockheed Martin Factory that is situated near the school. Lockheed Martin is the worlds biggest weapons manufaturer. Moore tried to make a connection with this and the massacre claiming that it could have a had an influence on the general mentality of the townsfolk. One of the killers parents was reported to have worked there I think. Anys it turned out that the Lockheed Martin factory was only making booster rockets for communication sattelites or something. Not weapons like he suggested in his movie.
I believe this has been verified and can attest to CNN`s continued quoting of it. I don`t really think it has too much of an impact on his overall argument in the movie but thats subjective i suppose.

Other than that i can remember mention of a `twisting of the truth` in Farrenheit 911. Moore is trying to enlist senators children into the army to serve in Iraq to make a mockery of their willingness to send other peoples sons and daughters. One of the senators that he questioned gets pised off at him tells him to go away and what not, but after a while caves into Moore`s continued antics and yells at him something along the lines of "i have a nephew/son there" however only the first part of the footage gets shown in the movie. I dont know how true this is but have heard several reports of it. That i must admit is a big fuck up on Moore`s behalf if it is true!

any others?

smart guy...i'm not pro-moore nor am I against him, but like digital stated, moore offers his opinion of the events and how they were handled. as humans entitled to our own opinion we can not agree or disagree with what the man has to say, those who strongly agree or refute his message tend to have a closed mind. people don't like thinking outside of what they know to be true, possibilities are only evident if you are open to a different truth. the truth that isnt followed by a social norm, any deviation of such retains the conveyer as a liar, "twisting/bending the truth" remember, what you know to be the truth is a belief that you solely possess. anyone who tends to differentiate YOUR belief is labeled a "liar" in your eyes. think outside of your social norm and simply consider what other people have to say and not necessarily follow it, but understand that people can have different points of view. open your mind =)

well if historians and scholars think so i'm convinced, after all, if someone i think is smarter than me says something it has to be true

Provide us a rock solid evidence of that and it'll be added to the movie's flaws.

Go see it for yourself. The flames that go on in this thread will not describe you what you will see.

I dislike Bush and I dislike Moore. So you want a falsehood in Fahrenheit 911? How about when Moore talks about how the bin Laden family was granted special permission to depart the USA while airspace was still closed. In an interview on Dateline, Osama bin Laden's brother--a wealthy Saudi national living in the USA--stated that it was not until Thursday, September 20th that he and his family were on a plane after being cleared by the FBI on their way out of the country.

Take Moore's words with a lot of skepticism. However, come November, get Bush's corrupt self out of the policy. If for no other reason, make it the reason that the representative of the USA should not be a man with a 3rd grade reading level and a Christian fundamentalist attitude. God told me to kill my ass. I thought we were supposed to be better than the "evil-doers".

I'm to arsed to express my opinions on that guy anymore. I've already done it in 2 or 3 other TA forums ... and the COR is too jeuvenille to discuss issues such as these.

I can stop reading at this point.

quote:
Rep. Mark Kennedy, a Republican, is a little annoyed at leftist film maker Michael Moore after an edited version of an interview between the two appeared in the trailer for Moore's upcoming U.S. release of the film "Fahrenheit 9/11."

More right-wing propaganda.

Besides, I stated rock solid evidence. That is for those who did not understand, video or stfu.
