but I like house...kinda

It's a trance night.

We also need to figure out what is up with that Battle of The DJs thing. Maybe we can get Carlos or Julio Steve out there again. Everyone should be going this time. Seems like we'll be the ones figuring out the time slots. Oh well, I trust us.

I just finished listening to Carlos' set for the first time. I was really impressed with what I heard. I was Digging the mixing and track selection.

Nice as If anyone wants Carlos' (Scorpio) set, here's a link. Be warned, I'm hosting this on my webserver from home which has a maximum upstream bandwidth of 48kb/s, so be patient. I'd host the other sets from the night but as you know this was the only recording that wasn't screwed up (except for Sir Jackon's).

EDIT: PM me if you want this set

More the merrier I say. We need to get ourselves a huge ass table to sustain us all. What time are you guys going to arrive this week?

Posted by Rememberence_ on Jul-20-2004 05:36:

seeing as set times are still far from organised, I'd like to get there about 8pm at the latest (got there at about 8:30 last friday). I think there are enough of us coming up from SA to warrant 2 cars, in which case I think I will be driving again... so if I do, I'll be there by 8pm.

Posted by zenbudda on Jul-20-2004 18:13:

sorry, i edited out something really stupid that could get someone in trouble. i wasn't thinking when i first posted it. if you care that much ,you can ask me in person. :-)

Posted by DJ Hoyt on Jul-21-2004 03:58:

I had several people asking when I was going to spin and I think I should get a time slot later in the night since I have some "fans" but not too late. Like around 10 or 11. Too early or too late, people won't hear me.

Will we have that many DJs there every Friday??

And yeah, I have no idea what was up with all the trainwrecks and diva house being played in the beginning.

It's a TRANCE NIGHT! Not diva house night.

Posted by Rememberence_ on Jul-21-2004 21:47:

Yeah, good thing Carlos (Scorpio) got on the decks and royally tore the asshole out of Nuno's.

Posted by DJ_Octane on Jul-21-2004 23:13:

We definitely need to set up time slots between us and rotate. I don't know what this Battle Of The DJs thing is, but its kinda cutting into our time. Between 10 and 1, there are 4 45-minute spots. I think whoever has to play before 10 gets an hour to make it fair. We also need to stick to the rotating schedule so everyone has a chance to "headline".

If all else fails, maybe we can rotate nights so the residents play twice a month. That means one-hour sets for everyone. This is going to take a bit of sacrifice because I've been bringing people from day one and had to tag every time and play early, so we need to pull together so we can all be happy.

I say we add one more resident and have 3 residents play each night. That doesn't mean you don't have to show up if you don't play. We need to support each other at all costs. I think the DJs are going to make or break this night. If we can work things out between us, we will all enjoy it. Everyone else is too busy running the club to deal with pleasing the DJs, so Let's put our heads together.

Shit, well if I can go up there and tear it up, I would be FORCED due to my work to only go 2 fridays a month, since I work every other Friday. So I have no complaints with that system. That is, if there's room for me to spin I mean, I know there are already DJs on the lineup.

Posted by DeviantxPete on Jul-22-2004 00:07:

*calls dibs on the gimpiest times possible*

I don't need an audience.

Posted by Rememberence_ on Jul-22-2004 00:09:

Well first I think the existing DJs need to come to a compromise if it doesn't happen via Jojo, and then new DJs can be considered if appropriate. The problem right now is that there's already 5 of us, so hopefully we can work it out. Talked to Jojo and he'll have a plan when he calls back tomorrow apparrantly.

Posted by DeviantxPete on Jul-22-2004 00:12:

Understood. We shall see what happens.

Posted by Rememberence_ on Jul-22-2004 00:17:

still, even a rotating resident DJ lineup doesn't rule out guest DJ spots at the begining of the night, so there's still hope.

ps: it'd make sense to move this discussion to the 07/23 nuno's thread :P

Posted by DeviantxPete on Jul-22-2004 00:25:

I'm pretty sure you can all have an hour set. 5 resident DJS = 5 hours from 8-1. Since the place closes at 2, all time that goes over will probably add up to an hour or less. Besides, not too many people are going to be left by the time the last guy finishes. Just my two cents.

EDIT: Just read Jameses post. Forget what I said above. I thought Nuno's closed at 2 now, since Hoyt apparently spun until 2:15.

I also nominate Andres to be the 6th Resident DJ (if you guys do that). We need some more progressive in the lineup. Nothing wrong with diversification.

Posted by DJ Hoyt on Jul-22-2004 05:20:

From what I heard, the Battle of the DJs thing hasn't even started yet. Nuno and JoeJoe are still working on the plans. I was surprised to see it on the flyer. Plus, I think DJs need longer than 45 minutes. That's a stupid length... no offense. Here's how it should be:

8-9: DJ #1
9-10: DJ #2
10-11: DJ #3
11-12: DJ #4
12-1: DJ #5

How can that not work? That will work fine! Won't it... ?

Posted by DeviantxPete on Jul-22-2004 05:58:

That's what I meant by my first half of the message. But, Battle of the DJs is 7-10. So residents work with 10-1.

Posted by DJ Hoyt on Jul-22-2004 10:17:

Yes, but that hasn't started yet.

I agree 100%, 1 hour is ideal for most djs to build something, but time is something we don't have a lot of. Maybe breaking up 8-1 will work now, but when Battle Of The DJs starts, we're back to square one. Also, if JoJo throws in a guest, we're screwed AND I think it would be rude to invite a guest DJ and make them play an early slot. I have ideas for a 6th resident, but what if the 6th was the rotating resident and when we don't have one, we can have one of us take the slot. In the end we'll be back to 3 hours to work with. I am all for the rotating residents.
