-- MTV Swearing censoring

It's a big joke, innit? Everyone knows what's going on and what's being said behind the scenes, and instead of actually "censoring" anything, it just becomes a silly way to layer the sounds of gunshots and cuckoo clocks in time with the swearing. By blurring out, what kind of censorship is that -- they're just turning everything into a classic Sierra game a la King's Quest V. Remember that? Next thing you know, they'll be decreasing the framerate to match. :P

Utter bollocks.

MTV will have to be even more careful after what happened at the Superbowl...

Posted by davinox on Jul-20-2004 19:49:

hahaha who cares?

go back to watching your "mature" TV like HBO!

i'll be reading a good book and ignoring the tv intirely.

FCC tightens up... but only temporarily. It'll all come back. It has before, and it will again... look at what kind of movies used to be rated "PG"... POLTERGEIST, for cryin' out loud :P

What do you expect?

You get shitty things from shitty places.

It's not rocket science.

That's what happens when people realize they have free speech. They get easily offended and bitch about the smallest things. "Fuck, Shit, Piss" will not ruin our minds. Europe isn't censor crazy and they turned out just fine.

I dunno the policy, but I doubt there are many regulations after midnight or so. I say that because Comedy Central (basic cable channel here) shows the South Park movie unedited and in its entirety every now and then at or after midnight.

thanks for the correction. but what exactly is the entire purpose to all this censoring, etc. is it all really just for the kids?

You should see it over here then *lol*. Biggest steaming pile of dogshit excuse for a music channel EVER!

Some shows are pretty good, but that's about the only good thinh about MTV

Beavis & Butthead
Jackass
Dirty Sanchez (British version of Jackass, even crazier)
Viva La Bam

MTV's and the other music channel's censoring is getting ridiculous!

In Eminem - Stan practically the whole of one verse is blanked out

See Slim, {screaming} shut up bitch, I'm trying to talk
Hey Slim, that's my girlfriend screaming in the trunk.
But I didn't slit her throat,
I just tied her up, see I ain't like you.
'Cause if she suffocates, she'll suffer more,
then she'll die too.

is heard on MTV as

See Slim {*********} shut up ***** i'm trying to talk
hey slim, that's ** ********* ********* in the *****
but i didn't **** *** ******
i just **** *** **, see i ain't like you
'cause if she **********, she'll suffer more
then she'll *** too

But the funniest has got to be

"I was doing ** on the freeway"

in case anyone was wondering, it's "doing 90 on the freeway"

it's like they're worried kids might get the idea of going over the speed limit! if thats the case they might want to take off the constat worlds wildest police chases etc.

LOL... isn't it even MORE dangerous to insert a blank space where ANY number, for that matter, can be inserted? Imaginations run wild and sometimes the scariest stuff is what hasn't already been filled in for you!

But really, like has this been said: is it really MTV, 'cuz the FCC just won't let them be

"Oooh a nipple! BAN IT."

"Awww, you can show that, it's just more people getting killed."

How very strange and sad
