Those Chicane beatless pieces, like "Overture", sound oddly Moby-ish... I think one of them has similar harmonics to "God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters" or "Hymn"... can't remember which one ATM but I once listened to them back-to-back and was like, WHOA!

Ambient ain't what it used to be...

it has beats now. Ehehe... some even classify Schnauss as "melodic IDM/Braindance". Whatever, a label is a label, and I use it for accessibility and convenience but if you wanna toss some more adjectives and call it "warm" and "chimey" and "bellodic" and "mellifluxopontificating", I'm fine with that too.

If anyone hasn't heard it:

Tangerine Dream - Love On A Real Train

From an earlier generation, but beautiful. The tree's got roots.

See you have opened a box that you cannot close now

If you read the actual reply and got the context of it, I said they were chillout in the threadstarter aka david's opinion. See you have to take into account that I was talking in his context. Elitest BS? I have'nt told you off have I?, I have not provoked you, so don't go around trying to call it that.

I do happen to be in regular contact with all 3 of the artists mentioned and I asked each of them to describe their style because I WANTED TO KNOW!

Biosphere said Ambient
Namlook said Ambient
Schnauss said his label says downtempo but he makes music that he feels in his heart (check ivibes.nu's interview with him if you don't believe me)

I never said I knew more than others, I just simply stated that David's list, I did not view that as chillout (meaning ambient, downtempo or chillout). I think I've reviewed enough of those CDs for labels to understand the bloody difference. So have a nice day, you tried but I don't have the time anymore to waste on people who want to attack my non provoking opinions.
