One of my buddies had an Intellivision and a TexasInstruments TRS80. We used to play all sorts of crazy stuff on those.

My favorite home video game was River Raid on the Atari 2600.

In the arcade it was all about Galaga and Pole Position and later on, Rampage.

I remember trying to get my parents to buy me the original Nintendo which was 350 dollars and came with the gun, and Robby the Robot to use when you played the non duck hunt game it came with. I ended up getting my nintendo at the age of 8. Hell, I bought Zelda two days after the original release date and got screwed by the power surge memory erase glitch that they later told you on the games to "hold down reset while pressing power".

Ahhhh the childhoodness.

i had a Commodore 128 and i used to play Law of the West 2 all day long... I always used to bitch the doctor up real bad, so he wouldnt come and help me if I got shot OMG i had like 3000 games or something for that huge box... All pirated :P The original Vice City rocked as a bitch... And i remember the "pure","clean" qualtiy sound when i played "kung Fu Fighting" which actually had sampled the song "Kung Fu Fighting"... omg that was an awesome time.. AFter that I got Sega Mega Drive, and I played SOnic 1 till my fingers bled :P

Good game....the Esper system was very nice I thought.

I was the Final Fantasy 2 and 3 (US numbers) speed demon.

The best thing about 3 over 2 was the Experience Egg. Thought the Atma Weapon equipped with 4xCut was pretty wicked too.
