I'm not offended. But i really don't think that liking the stones over the beatles, indicates that I am only accustomed to american-sounding music. My tastes are very diverse and are actually more european if anything.Almost all of my favorite music in high school was rock from the UK.

here is a list of my favorite non-edm music and where it originated.

the beta band (british)
suede (british)
stone roses (british)
the smiths (british)
the cure (british)
belle and sebastian (scottish)
my bloody valentine (irish)
wire (british)
creation (german)
St Etienne (british)
Spiritualized (British)
Slowdive (British)
Pixies (US)
yo la tengo (US)
neutral milk hotel (US)
Love (US)

you guys do realise that being Scottish is ALSO British?

For the record, British refers to English, Scottish and Welsh people who, along with Northern Ireland, make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain. It just really grits my teeth when I see people not referring to Scots as British but then saying the English are British.

Charmscars has the band "belle and sebastien" listed as Scottish, but all the other UK bands listed as British. I'm assuming those bands are English. So, what I'm saying is that all those bands are British, except the Irish one, because British refers to all English, Scottish and Welsh people as one unified nation and people. You'd be surprised how many people fuck that up.

well that's very incorrect. The term British is becoming very outdated anyway, as nationalism in all three countries is gaining ground. It's just not right to call English people British but then differentiate the Welsh and Scots when the term applies to all three. I'm bored and nitpicking...so sorry.

Songs:
One after 909
Rocker
Save the last dance for me
Don't let me down
Dig a Pony
I've got a feeling
Get back
For you blue
Teddy Boy
Two of us
Maggie May
Dig it
Let it be
The long and winding road
Get back (reprise)
Across the universe
I me mine
Dig it
Can you dig it?
Get back
All I want is you
No Pakistanis
Across the universe
Child of nature
Every one had a hard year
The walk
All things must past

Though, After researching a bit more. I found out that the Beatles made the song as a satire to a political activist who wanted to get rid off immigrants from England during that time. I have the song, if anyone wants to listen to it let me know. Its 1.9 mb I could email it to you guys.

Abbey Road + Sgt. Pepper = Two greatest albums of all time.

I went to Liverpool last year and did the whole Beatles tour. And it ends off with a drink at the Cavern (I think that's the name)...the place where the Beatles played their first gig. It was really cool. Seeing Strawberry Fields (an orphanage now owned by the estate of Lennon, Yoko still phones it every xmas), getting drunk and stumbling down Penny Lane. There is also a giant yellow submarine just beside the river mersey. (coincidentally where Creamfields is held every year)

Not to mention I have a pic of me crossing abbey road (which is located here in London)

ANYWAYS, I'm a huge Beatles fan, but not a fan of their early hits (well their covers). The Album of no.1's makes me sick. I despise it. And most people think of that cd and that sound when they think of the Beatles...brutal!

I love any sort of british rock - even the new british bands that are out are wicked.
Have always been addicted to THE SMITHS, the doors, led zepplin, the beatles, The Animals, and the Rolling Stones. wicked! For recent british bands I think coldplay takes the cake

thanks a lot for doing this research.

i figured it was going to be something like that since The Beatles were involved in politics at times. and their views were never anything of that sort. i was going to make you eat your words this week after coming back from WEMF.

Hey, what can I say, I actually took the time to find more information about it, but the next guy who might listen to that song might not do so.

Apart from that, YOU CAN MAKE ME EAT MY WORDS ANYTIME!!!!
