anyone who says Tiesto's album is good has fallen into the commerical mindset.

Ferry has proven himself with a mess of arrangements that he still loves to produce trance. Has Tiesto? NO. So either Tiesto has to get busy like Ferry to regain my heart, or i will repeat myself: "tiesto deserves no say in gouryella"

Since when is Corsten NOT commercial??? Without Tiesto Gouryella would have been too shallow!

Read This! Just to get things straight...

Gouryella would never do anything but uplifting... when producers go under an alias, the alias is what they can be known for... I.E. Gouryella = All Uplifting, System F = Harder Trance, Moonman, Veracocha etc. etc. Tiesto and Corsten would not do anything besides uplifting with Gouryella because that would be straying from their alias.

That's why for a while everyone [including me] was wondering where all these groups were coming from that were producing amazing songs, but in fact it turned out to be a lot of the amazing guys we knew already but they were under an alias so their name wouldn't matter... it's like authors do sometimes because they don't want to be labeled under a certain style.

yeah, i used to think that there were hundreds and hundreds of talented ppl out there, in reality it comes down to about a dozen

Yeah, I don't think a lot of us got straightened out until we had that HUGE discussion about alias' a few months ago... and I see a lot more TranceAddicts out there are just finding out some of that stuff since that new alias thread is on the top now with 100+ replies.

Thats not the same thing...cause Tiestos album sticked to trance....just different styles of trance...... To change from rock to Country is not the same thing as to change from Uplifting to Progressive.....

Just because ppl don't like Tiesto's album does not make it shit. I love the WHOLE album with no exceptions (which is a first for me). There are a lot of albums out there which i don't like but i don't claim them to be shit?! Music is a matter of taste not standard?!

did he say when?

Posted by chewd0g on Sep-21-2001 19:16:

heheh

to each his own?

by that directed post to me you aren't letting "each have their own"

look tiesto has been lacking, look he's still spinning that damn utah saints track i mean WTF?!?!

it wasn't even produced by him and he's killing it!

I haven't liked anything tiesto has put out lately cept for maybe flight 643 or urban train

And with you saying "tiesto still reigns the king of trance" LOL dude this is his first album completely produced by him...I can't really say who is the best trance artist out there but with paul van dyk putting out fully produced albums since early 90s and also singles in the limited amount of time that he has i don't see how tiesto comes close to pvds credentials

look tiesto has skill...but he's not using it.

:)

Ok, ChewdOg you win...but before you start smiling to yourself, considering your praises about Paul Van Dyk, please....right about now, go put on the 45RPM, Seven Ways or OutThere and Back CD or LPs. Take a close listen to them...Ok...

Next, from my point of view, after reviewing all three albums, I find nothing sensational except for For An Angel, Another Way....and I am sure many other great and overplayed tracks..You see here, there is no doubt that PVD came out and started producing trance anthems first...well, a long history since the late 80's if you wanna be specific. There is one reason for that, that is Germany(his hometown) embraces trance way back than any other country...even The Netherlands...therefore, the market is in demand of trance tunes....well, there you go, Paul Van Dyk. Phew, that was long...btw, Paul Van Dyk has gone mainstream (also known as COMMERCIAL) long time ago....

Anyways, my point in asking you to take a listen to PVD's productions is to ask yourself....is he churning out the same progressions or is it a total different kind of feel each time you forward onto the next track? Well, the reason why I think that you think that Tiesto is so over-rated is because: 1) He's Talented (Just like PVD,Corsten)
2) He generates new progressions of sounds

Back to point of new sounds...ChewD0g...please I want you to go grab a hold of PVD's Columbia EP....take a listen....and then throw in Tiesto's In My Memory.....and vice versa again...this time....please take note of the progression....and see if you were behind that program...will you be able to think of sequencing that beat...chances are you will be able to produce more PVD tracks than you could ever with Tiesto's tracks...One more point I would like to add is that Tiesto's works from way back, his collaborations could easily surpass PVD's 2 albums in the 90s....it's just his choice on whether to flood the market with trance tunes.

Ok..don't be mistaken, PVD in my opinion, is still an alright producer...but I really regretted spending 20 US on his Columbia EP when all I hear is 1999's sounds..seem all too familiar now, doesn' it...

I rest my case.....you win

Maybe he didnt put out full lenght albums cause he did the trax with other producers each time? I mean just take look around..?
All the kamaya painters trax?
All the Allure trax? Gouryella trax?
And the Trax produced in his own name DJ Tiesto thats ALOT to...not talking about all of his remixes!
