God words can't describe how horrible this world can be sometimes...

rest in peace mate...

see I always think of in terms of that person not being able to deal with problems effectively. there are millions of causes, and things to blame, but it happens.

I guess I don't get all caught up in it unless I know of the person.

I know that we are living in a fucked up world and I think that a lot of people will think/have thought about killing themselves (I know I have, not really out of a last resort kind of idea but more a what if kind of deal) but the difference between them and us is that we just THINK about it.

Suicides are sad yes, but I do think that, with all do respect but I have to be blunt here, suicide is a rather selfish act. Obviously killing anybody is a selfish act, but you know yourself how much your death will affect your community. There are, of course, exceptions such as where a person truly has "nobody" anymore and therefore feels that by commiting suicide nobody will care, but that is not the only way out.

Of course this is just my way of viewing at it, and there are exceptions to all scenarios, I know.

It's ok, at least he doesn't have to put up with the struggle of life any longer

Posted by Mattsanity on Jul-26-2004 00:51:

What's the point in suiciding? Is it because you have a horrible life? There's always an upside at some point in your life so you got to just perservere even if you want to suicide which is a dumbest idea.

Perhaps those in that kind of inner turmoil don't see it that way. Things can get pretty bad...bad to the point where non-existence would be preferable over an existence of pain and suffering.

Hey...if someone hates their life that much then wtf...end it

Posted by Lira on Jul-26-2004 02:35:

R.I.P.

Those of you who are saying things about the dead guy hopefully never experienced depression, and I actually hope you never do. But have some respect, please. It's a hormonal/chemical/behaviour imbalance (sp?) in which one doesn't think like an ordinary person, therefore you can't judge him as if he were a healthy person. This is a far more selfish act than taking your own life. In fact, if we all just stopped judging, life would a much better place, and maybe this person wouldn't be dead after all.

Not to mention the cultural aspects...

I say they go into another life, or into nothingness, non-existence.

I opt for non-existence.

most women who kill themselves like the idea of "dying gracefully." They want to look pretty in their coffin at their funeral, and be remembered how they normally looked, that's why they either OD or slit their wrists. Guys who want to kill themselves don't care, so usually they'll just shoot themselves in the head or hang themselves.

Thats because most women are rather foolish to care about something as trivial as "looking good" when their dead. *shakes his head*

HIPPIE ALLIANCE!!

lol. a vibrator alliance and a hippie alliance in one night might be a little much.

but werd.

The guy acheived happiness. More power to him. Some people choose life ... some don't. Even if his rationale appears insignificant to you, you're not him. You value life enough to make more of a concerted effort than he did ... he didn't. I don't understand why this is a tragedy or an issue.

Because only God should have the choice of when a person should die, not us. I thought you knew.

LOL well so much for free will I guess. So God should ONLY have a choice about whether a person dies but not about what when a person chooses to do evil that hurts or KILLS another innocent person? Ahhhh I love religious explanantions.

If God is omnipotent like religions zealots tend to believe, how could you believe in free will to begin with? To believe in God is to not believe in free will.

Btw, I was being sarcastic in my first comment. I know Occrider caught on.
