As for Goldeneye... hopefully no explanation is needed. Goldeneye changed first-person and multiplayer gaming forever. And Sony never had a rival for that. (If you call the Bandikoot a rival for M64.)

All the first playstation had for itself was the quantity of games to choose from, playable on an all but stable machine, and lack of cartridge. As far as quality Nintendo was changing the industry while Sony was milking it. And speaking of quality, the Dreamcast owned them all.
