LOL... Im in a farming community of about 4900 people. Just seniors and farmers around here.
So dont bitch. I can't even FIND any trance radio or nothing without going online.
I can't say Trance, EDM, Techno, or anything!

I always have to say I produce Dance Music...if they still don't get it I just shrug and say don't worry about it.

No one has an opinion about it cuz they've never even heard of it.

Some of my friends call it "Jungle music" or "Computer music"... so even the ones that have at least heard some EDM tunes are completely ignorant.

Such is life in rural Ontario. Thank God for the Dutch!
A recent visit to Holland and I was believing that their national anthem must be Trance music! That would be cool!

My favorite pothead LOVES trance. Honestly, I've found that the best response to the goofy looks and dumb questions is to yell at the top of your lungs for no apparent reason. People stop asking questions EVERY TIME. And for the record, I'd just like to say that I'm having a really hard time imagining Aussie's rapping. In my head the accent doesn't work.

Some Classics

Here's some interesting ones:

1) Once I was at a friends place, he was heading overseas for a year, so he had a party. I cranked up DJ Tiesto- Magik 6: Live in Amsterdamn... Someone made a comment: Dude.... I'll make a 3 second wave file for u on Windows 98 sound Recorder, then u can loop it and go have fun for the rest of the day.

2) Her: "Trance... what's that?"
Me: "Errrrr..... Techno...."
Her: "Techno? ohhh.... Boom Boom Music!)" (refering to cars with subs)
Me:.... Yeah....
Her: OMG, u actually like that crap?

3) Me: I'm into Trance...
Him: man.... Trance.... some of the stuff in clubs, you mean, Techno .... Everyone I know that's into trance was only into after they took Eckies at some clubs... then all the sudden they started to get into Trance.

4) "THe only techno is that stuff like gatecracsher and shit, everythign else is gay and repitive"
- Jason (good friend, lover of Hip-hop and Rap)

5) Her(Hip Hop and Pop Fan): "Turn ur headphones down, I can hear a bit of the music, and it's really annoying, It's just repetitive crap"

Me: "this reptitive crap is a lot better and more orignial to me than the Top 50 on Video HIts"

Her(Hip Hop and Pop Fan): Excuse Me, all of us (refering to the grade 12 class in my school), listen to REAL music, not stuff that a computer made.
(The class agrees with Ms. Popularity)

Is it not true? Gays were/are a fundamental part of it.

Actually they are a part of almost all human activities...

LOL.... AUssies rapping... lol....

Nahh... mostly I find the ethnics and gangsters here are into hip-hop. Most gangs here are usually Lebanese and Vietnamese in Background (they're allright people if u ask me). In my humble opinion, Australia hasn't done any great music in the global scene in the rap department, and certainly nothing in EDM, in my knowledge. This makes it REALLY hard, just to be HEARD, if ur wanting to go global here, and are into EDM. Besides, if ur own country won't support ur music, who will?

It's interesting to note that I find people here try harder to dress like rappers than Americans (spent 4 weeks in NY and DC)... as in PAYING so much money for brands.... What's even funnier is the number of white guys here that wear FUBU... I laugh ever single time....

People in the states LOVE trance.

Wait... no.

I just tell them to bugger off. If people are going to sit there and bash you because of the kind of music you listen to then they really arent worth talking to. People need to be more open.

Very true... My friends often think they know what trance is after listening to Ferry's liveset which is running through my audi system. At the point where ferry makes a transition and there are only beats.

I always suggest them
System F - Out of the Blue,
Midway - Monkey Forest and
Christian Rusch and Greg Murray - Epic to get a true impression of trance.

Usually, people here are just listening to what everyone else is listening to... I get ragged by rockers and Rappers the most for my music preferences. EDM (no-one knows what that is) here is called "Techno Shit". I'm told it's repetitive crap... and it's not music at all, just stuff made by a computer... I'm told to "listen to REAL music, not stuff made by computers". People will make all kinds of fun out of ya down here...

those people are fuckheds simple as that.

and theres nothing worse than saying you like electronic music...

If I say that I like electronic music when I just happened to get stuck talking to a musically challenged retard, theres always a pause and then they'll say "...and what type of music is that?"

ahh that fucking kills me.

just the "...and what type of music is that?". fuck sake dont these people step outside the square they live in?

Hmm, still can't get it - Global DJ Broadcast is so popular, do other radio stations play trance?

Posted by lim f(x) = f(a) on Aug-04-2004 04:09:

Internet stations do not count because they play almost livesets and no new singles like the usual radio in prime time

well we have no trance radio station in houston, and there aren't many clubs that play it either.

I see... Then it is difficult for you to 'present' trance music to your friends, and they really might think 'Techno and Trance are gay and repetitive'

That's when you bust out the Ibiza and Dream Trance.

Why? Ibiza compilations always include that tribal latin groove, percussions, ethnic sounds etc, not just the synth sounds
Dream Trance was in the middle 90s, when the Dream Dance series were something worth listening to, now they offer 3 min music cuts

Because they use real instruments. Ibiza trance - Most likely guitars as in the case of say, Seven Cities, and Dream Trance - Most likely piano melodies.

Most likely standard synthesizer presets...

Hey I live in Chicago and its the same SAD story. All I hear on the radio is hip hop and GHETTO House Music. No one in chicago knows of Progressive House, Trance , or ANY EDM!! The clubs play cheesy dance msuic unless they bring in some BIG DJ and charge you $100 to see him/her. The States are horriable musically and artistically!! I think I am going to move to Europe
