Too much caffeine

When I'm depressed I play really emotional sets, when I'm happy I play very uplifting.

Never had a problem with heat. And while playing at parties I always find the room to be cool, even though it might be 30C+ in there .lol

When I am pissed off, moody or stressed.

1. Getting too much sleep, like 9+ hours -- something about it just makes me really bad at beatmatching.

2. Not knowing the tunes well enough to know when to start mixing into/out of them

3. Hunger!

1. my first mix isgood -if i start witha good mix its all gravy
2. if my bird upsets me - then i throw the best set on earth
3. if i have a brew next tome

changing genres, when you've mixed rnb for a week, and then you want to go back to trance. I forget which beat to cue on.

Heat really gets to me... distractions, not so much.. just yesterday, my mom came into my room while I was just starting the transistion and while she was talking to me, I was EQing at the same time and listening to what she was telling me... All I know is that it was a good transistion and I did what she asked me to do after I was done mixing.

1. Heat
2. Tired
3. Not interested in mixing (I can ALWAYS feel like listening to trance, but for some reason there are times when I just can't be assed to DJ)... its wierd.. if that feeling was to hit me on a night where I had a gig to do, I think I would be fucked cuz I would spin an absolute shit set.

Worrying too much about what the end product sounds like instead of having a good time...which is when the end product sounds best!

exactly. THinking too much for me will actually screw me up.

Hmm when you say it like that, its almost like saying the best DJs are dumb....*cough* Tiesto *cough* j/k

You just gotta have a good time.

Speaking of thinking, shouldn't you be paying attention to your job... 2:30pm, I know you are at work man...

Now get back to work...

I had another *cough* break. *looks around suspiciously*

1. Tiredness
2. Stress
3. Generally not being in the mood

Strangely though, it always seems that I'm best at mixing the day after a big night out, when I'm on a bit of a comedown

Alcohol. Definetly.

Posted by djsaryn on Sep-02-2004 17:26:

1: being tired.
2: taking too long to match them, then the transition is al out of wack and it sound horrible.
3: having my parents tel me to turn the bass down, then i cant hear it and i say screw it.
4: despressed is really not too good either.

1. Something that no one has touched on - Playing on decks and mixer that are way too low. Can the set up be higher than my waist? My back just gives out after about an hour.

2. Not having any beer before playing (I find a pint or two takes the edge off).

3. When someone tries to come and "help" you. Put records away, help you pick records, give commentary. Two words: Fuck Off.

I'm going to invest in one of those shirts. I know people don't do it to fuck you up intentionally, but they always start talking to you when you are midway in a transition. It's annoying and most of the time I just pretend not to hear them. If I had the shirt I would point to it and hopefully they'd get the hint.

The phone. I was 3 tracks into a mix the other day and both transitions were pretty good. Then the phone rang and of course nobody else is gonna answer it, 'twas a telemarketer. I get back into the mix and my next 3 mixes are HORRIBLE. The beatmatching sucked, the transitions sucked, the mixing just plain sucked. I gave up after 5 tracks.

Fucking telemarketers.
