I switched to Firefox about a month ago after IE was hijacked and it took about two weeks to get rid of the crap using various tools. I now love it and it's the only thing I use.

Side note: If you're looking for a great FTP program, try FileZilla, found on Sourceforge, another great open source free utility. Beats all the commercial ones IMO.
